What exact problem you have? No music, or show stays on first slide only, or you don't see even one slide at all? What version of PicturesToExe you have? Try this slide-show: http://www.wnsoft.com/apr/show/v445_Per_aspera_ad_astra.zip

Dave, For PTE v5.00 any CPU enough (900 Mhz and higher). I'm not sure about your video card. Please wait for the first beta very, very soon. We polish last small moments to release beta #1. GeForce 4 MX 440 for desktop PC has fine performance in PTE v5.00 and can gives about 140 frames per second.

I highly don't recommend to buy any laptop or PC with integrated Intel video solutions. Like i855 or i915 They have not enough performance. Intel even said that those video cards will not support new 3D Aero Glass Windows Vista interface. Ideal video cards in laptop for PTE v5.00 are: NVIDIA GeForce - 5700, 5800, 5900, 6600, 6800, 7200, 7800, 7900 or ATI Radeon 9500, 9600, 9700, 9800, X200, X300, X600, X800, X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900 For PC: NVIDIA GeForce 3, GeForce 4, Geforce FX or any higher described above. ATI Radeon 8500, 9200 or any higher described above.

Please send me to int_support (AT) wnsoft.com .pte project file only and let me know total length of slide-show. And time moment or slide where the problem happens.
-
Tom, Don't worry, please! Of course, .pte project file will be open as usually. We will only compress project file embedded to EXE file which you never need to modify.
-
In v4.xx we convert project file to special format and you're right it's impossible to compress this data. Especially if you have 1 MB .pte project file. But in v5.00 we will compress project file with ZIP like algorithm.
-
PTE engine in EXE file already compressed. Images and music in EXE file can be compressed. For example, if you add BMP files and create EXE file, it will be well reduced after compression to ZIP archive. I checked this moment several times and all works as I expected.
-
Yes, very soon. We have only several minor moments to do for the beta #1
-
Does this problem happen if you create EXE file with slide-show and run it? If yes, please say me about file size of this EXE file.
-
JPD You're right, maybe it will more fast for loading of slides to add BMP32 and compress all EXE to ZIP archive. Overall file size will be maybe smaller that EXE with PNGs. By the way, in case of simple text label with shadow (787x152) it has 45 KB in PNG format and 467 KB in BMP32 and 42 KB in ZIP archive with BMP32. p.s. concerning EXE file size of that slide-show. 36 images - 18 821 19 bytes 3 sound files - 11 451 046 bytes 1 project file - 38 565 Total: 30 311 230 bytes Final EXE file with (PTE engine - 254 464 bytes) = 30 564 774 bytes

At last we have internal alpha version of v5.00 and it show any sequence of slides with various transition effects and Pan/Zoom/Rotate with highest quality. Now we're working on beta #1 Also I've already created example of slide-show which will show some new features of v5.00 It will be published with beta #1

Thanks for letting me now. I'll fix it in v5.00
-
The Image Suite It's true. Really, I also found this bug several days ago and it exists in all versions. If you paste slides to empty Slide slide or insert to the end they appears in reverse order. I don't know how to better fix it - as updated v4.46 or v4.47?
-
Maybe you have old version of PicturesToExe? This problem occured with PTE v4.43 and earlier with images processed by Nikon's CoolScan program. And problem happened with Preview mode only. Please downloaded newest v4.46 and all should work fine.

You're right. It will be fixed in v5.00
-
A good idea! I've added it you my TODO list. Maybe in v5.00 or later.
-
Absolutely any Windows. Win2000, XP (Pro or Home) no difference for quality of slide-show or PTE. Even you can use old Win98.
-
So it works fine now on with VirtualPC for Mac? Ken, Please add this moment to your FAQ.
-
Mike, Thanks. We also have many ideas concerning plug-ins and even more for more fine customization of slide-show and usage of objects. But all after v5.00

Bev, I've sent you yesterday a letter with a key, but it seems that you didn't receive it yet. I suppose you mailing program or ISP just blocks all letters with attached files, or with particular files. I again sent you the letter to your another email address at gmail.com
-
Please write me to int_support@ (...) wnsoft.com if you still didn't receive the key and I'll immediately send it again. Apparently attached file with the key was blocked by Outlook program.

How to run PicturesToExe under VirtualPc on MacOS X. Solution. (This tutorial I've found on AsProtect Support Forum.) ---------------------------------- Start the Virtual PC session as normal. In the Mac Finder, navigate to the 'Documents' folder in your 'Home' folder. Open the 'Virtual PC Scripts' folder. Open the 'Toggle Compatibility Mode' script by double clicking it. The script opens in Script Editor. Click the 'Run' button at the top of the script window. Click 'OK' to the informational dialog that appears. Click 'Enable' in the next dialog. Return to the PC session, which is now running in compatibility mode and will be slower, and run the PicturesToExe as normal. When complete, close the program and return the Virtual PC to normal mode by re-running the script above and selecting 'Disable' at the appropriate time. Note that this "compatibility mode" is not the same as the Windows 2000 and XP Compatibility Modes, which PicturesToExe is generally incompatible with. Hope this helps others --------------------------------------- p.s. as I said earlier, it's necessary for main program of PicturesToExe. Created slide-shows works fine without additional steps.
