During several July and August strolls, I discovered this small area of provencial France. No or very little crowd, even fewer tourists but the motorway which crosses this country was saturated with tourist cars goeing southwards to the overcrowded Mediterranean region. Do you think a tourist seeing this slideshow on Beechbrook Cottage, would stop to admire these first footsteps of our civilization?

Ray I think that the word "wedge" is the good traduction of "cale" in english ( I opened my old dictionary ) . The idea is to stabilize all the children pictures positions when modification of the screen . But , wait a little : JPD and Peter are doing an adaptation to english . Regards daniel

Yachtsman1 I cannot imagine the problems for the laptop users .... Where the buttons to substitue the pedals ? Peter I think that you see the problem with a good manner . Personaly , Audacity is a good way for me , but why not arrange music files ? The important is that a beginner have the posibility to put 30 slides with a music and do in three hours a synchronisated slideshow ; after , he will tent to do better seing the "stuffy old duffers " productions ... The facility for the first time is a very important point for the future of PTE . Best regards daniel

Yes , Xaver , I know that it is the good way ... But I think too that a second translation is a dificult thing to do ( russian to english , and english to german or french ..). After , when you announce , Igor , a new fonction : added : xxxx , please , a minimal explication of the use . Each one is not born as a genious and ones , as me , need a few wroten explications , even if I use PTE since november 2002 ... Here are ones profesionals , but the majority is users for pleasure ( all my friends users ) and it is important to communicate with the basic user : it is him who speaks about PTE to future beginners ! Please , Igor , continue your way , but have a look to the basic users a little far of you ! I hope to be undertood easily ...

Igor Just my account, as a basic user, with no special knowledge about computers... Since 2002, I have used PTE ; like d67, quite satisfied with the practical side ; trouble came with object stability, depending on addressee's screen parameters ; problem solved with JPD's use of transparent Gif. Lately, I have begun to use V5 ; following the « cale » technique recommended by JPD, objects are stable whatever screen parameters of the final addressee. Which is obviously everyone's demand, as expressed by d67. It is unimaginable to ask the viewer to modify his/her screen parameters following the author !! In case I see this demand, I move to something else, considering that the author has little consideration for the viewer... and some technical uncertainties. One should be able to integrate the « cale » technique into PTE, at least I imagine so. Igor, please take five minutes and you will see that it works ; too many complexities puts off new users, and they will produce the future experts... Too elitist software will deprive PTE of new users... I therefore advise my friends to begin with V4,49 ; they are no experienced computer users and most of them are far from their young time, but they have time to use PTE. !!! If they are pleased with the result, they are quite willing to evoluate, or they go on with V4. I do not use video or you tube ; HD tv is in my opinion ideal for slide show ; my dearest wish is that PTE remains a slide show software !

Barry I am happy to see that you admit the possibility of other ways than international competitions, and that slideshow is not a photographic salon . I wholly agree with your opinion about lightening shadows for a picture, but can understand the willingness to not respect a rule by an author well known as Patrick ... and I think that here starts the author style, or he stays a conformist ... What worser than uniformity ? Happy to have this exchange with you in spite of my langage problems !

Personaly, I think that it is not necesary to use beautifull elements to do a good slide show ... As you spoke about the practice of slide show and as I know your work, considering you are a very good photograph and sell methods , I asked you your comments ... and if you think that slide show is a good way to share something else than beautifull landscapes or flowers ...Do you agree the principe ? Technicaly, Eric is now a very good user of PTE, but I didn't give him enough time to put the Vista patch ( happy to see that XP will stay more time that it was said !). I am ok with you , Peter ...if the critic read the announce done by the author ! If I didn't have the skills necessary to realise my images in Photoshop, I would consider myself an incomplete photographer. OK with you , Barry !!!!!!! It is evident and I am happy to read it ... I am vey interested to see your opinion and Xaver's one about this slideshow done three years ago by our friend Eric Legallet ; the pictures were done with a little compact , with imposibility to choose the weather and choose the hour ... My opinion is that a slideshow can be great and of an other class that an artistic one ... Thank you for your opinion .

Do you like slideshows whose images do not have the reputation of being good isolated photos? As in a cocktail : one elements may be indiferent or bad , but the result is good ! It very subtil to use ...and everybody does not like , but , please , admit that the perfection is not the same for all the planet ! And the word "krematorium" is not a good sound here ... MODIFIED = has lost the original feeling and appears flat The wanted effect to show the hard ligth effect has disapeared ... We are speaking about slideshow and the transmission of an impression , not about an isolated photo ... It is a good thing that the sensations are different , as men are !

Always the same problem !!!!!! Patrick : I said you that I loved your slide show ; I said you that it was for this good presentation of the contrast beetween these two ligths of these two days ; I think that doing harder the contrast of the first day and more smooth the one of the second day it is a good manner to show the variable weather of Amsterdam . I know your usual manner to do photos and understand your idea in this slideshow ... Barry is a good photographer also , I love very much his pictures ; but perhaps he did not understand your idea and thought only as a photographer seing your slideshow .... Every one has his perception of a slideshow ...This one is not in the BB sensibility , but many others love it ! Perhaps the next will be more in his sensibility and not in the others one !!! But, excuse me , if anybody explains me how to use these new tools , I am happy , how I am happy to drive my car within an idea of its construction ... I have no doubt about the utility of the members collaboration , and I am very admirative of their work ! But, I think that a new column for this subject would be a good idea : the commun users with their ordinary problems and recipes and the advanced members without troubles ... All is OK, Al, just my english does not allow me good explainations !

Dear Igor I understand very well your message and the marketing reasons for this new version . I think that all members will be happy with it and the new effects. My surprise is about the processing manner you used . Usualy, conceptors are working, and summit the result to a pannel of well known voluntary members; I think that it was before your usual way of work . This time, you show directly your work evolution to all members . I can understand this way , but here is the problem : why not to create a new column for this important subject ? I honnestly think that 90% of PTE users do not have the possibility to well understand or interest for the mecanic of the new effects. They expect your solution , your explication about the "to do" and, as still now, will be happy when done . Since 18 monthes, as said Patrick, the PTE users did not exist ; only beta testers ! No commentary about new slideshow with the actual version . Each day a new member is surprised to see that the only discussion subject is the future .... As a french, I love to go to a good restaurant ; the important is in my plate ..The cooking way is too difficult for me ! But I say a great "thank you" to the chief if I am happy ! Patrick esta muy conocido desde años aqui ; ha producido mucho y esta pensando, como muchos que se callan , que las animaciones quitan una de las caracteristicas de nuestra aficion : la succession de imagenes fijas. Estas pueden ser utiles para titulos , unas transiciones de cuando en cuando, pero no ser la base de un diaporama ... y es lo que muchos tememos mucho !!! Desearia que mi castellano fuese mejor que mi ingles !!! PS: su ultimo Teide me gusta mas que el anterior ...
