  1. Igor, Just a suggestion that your team has most likely thought of. It would be very convenient to have a set of grid lines that could be turned on or off in the visual editor display window. This would be nice for more precisely locating multiple objects within the display scene at their starting and ending key points...maybe at spacing of 10% horizonal and vertical inclusive of a cross hair at the central point. Not of much consequence at this point but as you more nearly finalize your product. ken
  2. Igor, I am so very pleased that you decided to make this early BETA release. I know your team has been extremely busy to bring the new graphics engine to this point. I'm sure that most of us PTE users had no idea as to the potential capabilities that your endeavor would produce. Your very early release is highly unusual for a developer. Most finalize their development before releasing...which is too late to obtain useful input from the potential users. Now that we've seen the potenial that lies ahead...we should be able to offer you many suggestions that you can consider as you finalize your developments. PTE is an unusual product in the support you give to it. Please continue with your unusual mode of operation...and I think I speak for the majority of us that use your product and participate in this forum. Onward with your PTE development...and we will hopefully provide you with an array of ideas that will assist you in making PTE 5.0 the "Leader of the Class". Very Sincerely, Ken
  3. Andrew, Very nice. Ran extremely smooth in all your pans and multilayered transitions. On the third re-cycle of your show, it began to stutter on the second image transition as the shadowy mountains began to appear. I had to escape and restart....and the stuttering did not repeat? Hope all is safe in Newzealand... ken
  4. Hello Everyone: For the benefit of those that might use Paint Shop Pro. Create your text on a colored background, of your choosing, with the Text selection tool. Then copy the selection to the clipboard. Follow this up with a "paste as new image". You've now got colored text with a transparent background. Using "3D effects", you can then add a drop shadow. Save your result as a .png file. You are now ready to put into your slideshow. Make sure you create your text of a reasonable size for use in your show...but you can adjust the text with PTE's zoom capability. ken
  5. Igor, I concur with Adda. This would be a nice feature. ken
  6. Richard, Just viewed your test sequence several times. Very, very nicely done...and using "first time out of the box beta software". Your sequences demonstrate the many possibilities of looking at images from an entirely different perspective. Ran flawlessly on the first pass but seemed to have some difficulty as it cycled through on the repeat pass...had to escape and restart. Thanks for the superb demonstration. ken
  7. I'm starting a new thread here because you might miss a very nice Beta 5.0 show that was created by Adda. Hello Adda, Superbly done! What a beautiful city. Igor's software causes one to look at photos in a very different way..doesn't it. Worked very smoothly on my computer...there is one or two places that I might slow the pan down just a small bit...but in general the timing was excellent. I'm going to post this in a new thread so that everybody gets a chance to see it. Hope you don't mind. Thanks for sharing. ken

  9. Hello Lumenlux: I noticed the same thing...but didn't spend any time on that...suspect if I had done a slight amount of gaussian blur on original it may have fixed it....although you must admit that it was a pretty extreme zoom starting at 1 pixel. I was more interested in learning how to use Igor's new stuff. In my original PTE Panorama I had to slice the photo up in precise quarter segments and used five individual slides...fairly complicated. Igor's new software makes it a breeze once you figure out how to use it. The photo is one of my heirlooms of my mother-in-law...top row first girl on left...she's gone now. Kind of neat to pan around in...you know holes in the britches, bean flips, fancy shoes, and quite a spectrum of faces. I also noticed on my system after I had uploaded...the midi hangs up on one note at the end? I would normally use a MP3 but tried to keep file small. Did it have a prolonged hangup on one note on your system? ken
  10. Igor: I think you've got a real winner going for you. Not had the time to put it through all it's tests but will do my best...once I figure out how to use the expanded functionality. I've noticed one minor thing. I noticed under Windows XP, when I select Large or Xtra Large Fonts, PTE's control button captions don't adjust accordingly and the caption is lost at the buttons edges. ken
  11. About a year ago I posted the PTE Panorama at the cottage. I spent a brief time with one of the photos I used and did a quick redo.....not anything like the quality of Lin Evans nice work. I've uploaded to my Yahoo Briefcase...it's the file called KenBurns.zip. You must have PTE Beta 5.0 installed to used it. It includes one photo, one midi, and a KenBurns.pte file. Something for those who wish too play around with beta 5.0 to start with. It's located here: http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/sknickles@sb...ic+Data&.view=l You may have to hit your browsers refresh several time to get it...only 600 kbytes big. ken p.s. When I noted "Not a very good one" I'm not refering to Beta 5.0 but my show.
  12. Hello Lin: Very nicely done..indeed! Keep working with it and post a few more sample shows...I love your ideas and usage in this demo. Please answer one question though....What were those darned coyotes digging up? sincerely, ken
  13. jeveans, Click on start button, then run and enter dxdiag shoud do it. ken
  14. Ron: You've got me worried...I've been using the drive on two lap tops and two desktops with no problems so far. A couple of my acquaintances have be using one also. Thus far we haven't experienced that problem. What brand of external self powered USB drive were you using? The WD Passport I recommended consumes 1 amp or 5 watts.
  15. John, I converted over to shooting RAW a couple of years ago...and very pleased that I did. You've got lot's more latitude if you need to correct a bad shot. I store both the RAW and converted JPG. I treat the RAW as though it were film. I've used several external hard drives over the years for storing my photos. But I recently bought one of these about four months ago and since bought two more: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=110 Very small and compact and ruggedly built. It's also self powered from the USB port, thus requiring no AC cords, power bricks etc. I think they now make a 120gb model. Approximately 1"x3.5"x5.5", rubber base, and very ridgid aluminum body. If you've got the spare bucks, I highly recommend based on my experience so far. ken
  16. Just a comment: I've watched the demo several times....and more amazed each time. Did every one observe the effects with the two superimposed post cards. It appears almost like a simultaneous 3 way pan and zoom with a title simultaneously crossing overall scene. Very cool! Hats off again to Mr. Igor. Hey Igor my wife loves it also...and is curious as to the musican who is playing Greensleeves? ken
  17. Hell Again Igor: Tested on an ATI Radeon 9250 AGP card and works great! Anxious for v5.0 now! Thanks for demo. ....ken
  18. Hey Igor!!! I LOVE it....I knew you would come through...worked perfect on a ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 card. When I quit the show I got some kind of diagnostic window having to do with memory leak? with counters... I repeated the show several times but only got the message once. cheers.... ken
  19. Welcome Tom, You may already know this but under Project Options (Main), if you check the box for under show settings to permit the control of show you can pause, forward, backup, and resume the show with the pause key and left and right arrow keys as well as ESC the show. I always enable this feature when I create a show. The <pause> key isn't as nice as the space bar as you have to search for it on your keyboard...but it works after the slide transition ends. The <F1> key will pause the show and bring up a help that explains the control keys. Sometimes at the start of a show I put up a message that tells the user to depress F1 for help. ken
  20. Hello: For those that might be interested...I've uploaded years 1980 thru 1985 to the above link. ....ken
  21. The administrator can remove...but it's sort of interesting...although not photographic. http://cgi.ebay.com/Elvis-Presleys-1956-Ho...1QQcmdZViewItem ken
  22. Lumenlux: I definitely second what you said!!! Bill: Thank you for your invaluable support to all the people that participate in PTE activities!!! By the way...I noticed your DONATE button isn't working yet...I'm assuming it will be active in the near future...once you get things working. Thanks again. Very Sincerely, Ken
  23. In my experience, MPEG1 (same as used by VCD format) seems to be the most compatible across most machines and Windows operating systems variations....I think in my neices case she chose the MPEG1 file I gave her for the Powerpoint presentation. Maybe you've had similar experiences? ken
  24. Lumenlux, My memories a little vague as this was a couple of years ago...but to the best of my recollection...... I have a niece who had a Powerpoint college assignment which involved a .mov file of 911 that she couldn't get to work in Powerpoint. She called on her trusty old uncle for help...a lot of good that did her! In order to get it to work I had to convert the file to an .avi or mpeg1...and I'm sure I supplied her both. The real kicker was that the only means I could find to convert to and avi from a .mov was to purchase a licensed copy of Quicktime Player (the free version would not do the conversion) which cost me $20-$30....ahh...what the heck the neice was worth it. There may be other solutions now...but at that time...that's the only one I found. maybe this helps..... ken
  25. Lumenlux.... A nice documentary style slideshow of I assume a missionary trip to Peru. With so many photos...I'm assuming you didn't have any time to participate in the actual work as others appeared to be doing. I'm sure the many participants appreciated your photographic documentary....I can tell...many memories for many people. What a photographic opportunity. So many happy smiling faces. Such a colorful world. One could make an interesting slideshow of just the faces of the people. Definitely a different world than we live in here. I didn't keep count but you must have put at least 400-500 slides in this show. thanks for sharing... ken
