Thank you Harold, I am glad you enjoyed. I am sure my presentation is more meaningful to you since you have some experience there yourself. As you may have guessed, the main purpose of my presentation is for a "souvenier" and "memory jogger" for those that were with us this time. Our organization has been going on similar expeditions over the last six or so years. But each trip involves different participants and every experience is unique. The music is partly (mostly?) by groups that I have been able to hear in person down there. But with my lack of Spanish language, the titles don't stick with me. However, the specific piece you ask about is actually Greensleeves - which I presume is from jolly old England. (By the way, where are you located?) I was surprised to hear this Peruvian rendition but some of the more "touristicated" groups have also displayed great skill in rendering classical classics in the Andean flavor.

All very interesting. Unfortunately I have not been able to DL the presentation. When I tried your direct link, the dl was very slow and then stalled completely. Then on Beechbrook, on your show only, I get a message that my presence or my action is not permitted. But I shall try again.

Granot You get more done on "vacation" than most of us do at "full speed." I left town for a day and now will need a week to catch up with all your improvements. Amazing. I am pushing on a presentation for a tomorrow eve gathering. Until then I must restrain myself from testing your very intriguing work. Meanwhile, thank you.

Granot - In the wee hours of the night/morning, I tested briefly Version 1.0.0.1 Though not a thorough test, it seemed to run perfectly. I like the way you are shaping it up. I will run 1.0.0.2 when available, but don't rush it for me, as I am taking a day detour.

For your viewing pleasure (at least I hope ) I have uploaded a personal experience show to Beechbrook.com In the meantime, you can download the presentation here: Peru2003 - A meeting of hearts (38 mb, 17 minutes) Of course any comments are welcome!

So Granot, here is my latest test results - (using Test5 version of your MultiShow) Summary - mostly simple to use, runs fine. Exceptions I experienced are as follows: 1. On one occasion I was running all shows. I pushed your "stop" button between two shows. Then I loaded a new list which had been previously saved. The new list was then showing, but the program continued to play every show from the previously "stopped" list. After closing the program, I could never duplicate this problem. I don't know if the stop button was pushed at some in-opportune time, or what may have originally happened. 2. If the viewer person pushes the "Run selected shows, without first actually selecting some, the program gives a Windows error message of not finding the file. It would probably be better if your program gave it's own error message to instruct that files must be "selected" in the window, before pushing the "Run selected shows" button. 3. The text file window that pops up is very good, easy feature. Minor problem is the text in the opened window is partially obscured (covered) by the "Close" button in the window. 4. I still think it would be best if running MultiShow would, by default, create and save a list of all the PTE.exe files in the Shows folder. If that is a problem for you to program, then it certainly is functional the way it is. But I think it would save a lot of questions. It would avoid the visual loss of all the files if the viewer forgets to save the "all files" list before composing and saving a partial list. 5. The most troublesome feature for me is the new button "Select a list of shows." I spent a lot of time trying to understand and use this feature. Most of that time is probably due to my own lack of knowledge, but I may not be unusual in that regard. After going through several levels of learning, I am able to get the button to bring up the window full of .ord files that I had to list in the ordList.ini file. But once the .ord files are in the window, I can not get the proper shows to run. I have tried double clicking on the .ord file. I have tried the butttons to "Run selected .." and "Run all .." - but I must be missing something as to how to make the program respond to desired .ord file only. (Maybe Ken can guess what I am missing or perhaps confirm a similar difficulty.) Please let me know if my descriptions are not clear.

I think it may be better if you make the program automatically save a list of all shows. The way you now have it, if you save a list of some files and then load that list, you can not get all the shows to once again appear in the window, unless you close the whole program and start over. Another feature to consider: Option to install to hard drive the selected files to run, and then remove automatically from hard drive after running?

OK, Granot, I was not joking, I didn't realize you are so much like the rest of us. But since my last post, I have DL'd and tried out the Multi CD you are working on. It may even be a "cleaner" approach than the CD Menu programs to which I referred. My problem right now, is I can't tell if I am testing your most current version of the last few days. The MultiShow.exe I have is 653KB. But from Ken's last post, I think I may not have the latest. Could you email me your latest version or repost a quick link so I can be evaluating the most current prog?

Wow, Andre! Well done show! I just happened to have the sound cranked up, so I really felt the scene. I don't know how much work was required by you on the sound track, but I think it was perfect. The color saturation of the photos seemed also very appropriate. Were the files edited to add saturation? Or do you or other photographers shoot with the saturation setting increased in the camera? I think it would be interesting to hear the oppinions of you and others about in-camera options for saturation and sharpening. Thanks for a fun presentation.

Welcome back Granot! (I think you came back while I was gone.) I certainly understand it must be frustrating - so little feedback - when you labor on your own ideas or respond to others' needs so kindly and quickly as you do. There are probably many reasons for this - among which might be - a PTE user does not see the need right now for the utility, or, a PTE user feels unqualified to enter the arena, or as is usually my case - I can seldom make time as readily as you do. And on those occasions where I push all else aside and try and evaluate your programs, I end up having to struggle to get back on track with all the things I shoved down deeper in the priority pile. I say this not to justify my situation nor to criticize your situation. My point is, there are probably many who do appreciate your work but who don't find a way to let you know. On those occasions, where I have devoted time - it is always enjoyable and stimulating. Now, shifting gears briefly, I think just before your vacation, there were a couple of us trying to help you refine one of the versions of CD Menu or to combine features of a couple of your related programs. I hope I or someone else might remember, or maybe you do remember, where that project was when you were leaving. I personally, think that is one of your programs that has yet the potential to be useful to many and perhaps even capable of bringing a few dollars into your pocket. I will try to be helpful with further testing on that one. Actually, I would enjoy testing all of your offerings, but I just don't manage to do so. Hope you understand.

Craig, your website is very nice and I look forward to viewing your PTE presentation of your fine photography. I might suggest (and you may already know), that you don't upload your entire show to Beechbrook. Just upload the link to your show as you have it available on your own site. Of course you will need the link working (as I too have not been able to download it from your own site yet.) Bill of Beechbrook is very generous and helpful in allowing us to post shows and links on his site. I and several others just send him the link and the small photo for him to post on his site. This takes some burden off his bandwidth expense and allows for him to post more shows from users who do not have the ability to disburse them from their own site. I expect we will soon be enjoying your presentation.

Well Ken, as we often say in the forum - I think we need a little more information before we can help.
-
Brian, thank you for your always knowledgeable contributions. As you suggest, many of us perhaps need be concerned with the XP-SP2 beyond the interaction of PTE. Do you have advice regarding the installing, not installing, or "un-installing" of the XP-SP2?
-
Thank you Igor. I have waited long enough now all the specifics have been highlighted. Please just know that every user of PTE very much appreciates your effort, your skill and the results. May I add thanks also to your official programming team and also the Forum members who have been instrumental in bringing this latest version to light. (And I recall Bill, your early encouragement and counsel on the waveform addition.) Looks like a winner.
-
Hi John, welcome to this forum. You must have a real "in" with Igor - if you indeed are using version 4.5. The rest of us are just very greatful to have received now version 4.30. As for cool edit, you likely need simply to "save as" your sound work as an .mp3 file. Then you can easily enjoy the fruits of your labor.
-
Brian - If you have already solved, you can ignore this possibility. I have not read this whole thread, but you might have a situation similar to one we solved a few weeks ago. Take a look here, to see if the procedure will solve your trouble. http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index...t=ST&f=4&t=2052

I thank you too David and Al. Myself, I would not have the courage to ask such a question! (But, Andrew, I think you are one who can probably accomplish your desire.) I think the answers given are very valuable to many of us. I hope any follow up on the subject will not be taken off-board. Because when it is here, many can benefit from both the questions and the answers. My first computer, Commodore 64, was chosen for the sound (chip?) capability. The first software I actually purchased for PC was Adlib and their soundcard. I remember being at Comdex and trying to decide between Sound Blaster and Adlib. I decided Adlib sounded better and would be better for music vs Sound Blaster that I felt was more novelty and games. Well, I am curious whether anyone who reads this even remembers Adlib and we all know what Sound Blaster has become. Meanwhile, as PC's have facilitated my photographic interests, self-made music has been sifted lower on the long list of fun things to do. Good luck Andrew, and yes we will look forward to hearing your sounds and your reports if you will share.

Michel, you are definitely one of the masters with PTE and your photography. You are doing so much in a sequence and it all works so well. Music fits perfectly with your impressions. May be more accurate if I say your music is important part of my impressions as I view your photos.
-
Scott, I too like what you are suggesting. What you suggest as the "logical" next step seems like an excellent implementation of several wishes of PTE users. If Igor can make this an option, I think it would have widespread appeal.
-
Ron, thanks for finally posting a show for us. I think your show points out that good photography can make interesting viewing whatever the subject. I mean I have no particular interest in auto headlights, but your photos in the proper presentation provide good viewing. Well done.

Thank you all for the constructive comments! I want to discuss further but am headed to the hills right now to see if I can find a moose or two who want to pose for me . Thanks again.
-
Glad to hear you are still able to have some fun. I was afraid they might have to bury you after that virus/malware attack! Where are you headed? Maybe you can check on Guido, I haven't seen much of him lately either.

Igor this Beta3 is looking and feeling good. I have just used it now for a couple of hours and am quite enthused. I do offer the following observations and ideas for you. The presentation I am working on is 30 minutes long. The sound track is 5 mp3 files that are not yet spliced together. I am trying different order of mp3 files and exchanging maybe one at a time. The waveform only works for one mp3 file at a time. So when mp3 #2 starts, I must push the button to "load" the waveform of mp3 #2. Meanwhile the slides are continuing and may be several slides advanced before the waveform appears. Would it be possible for you to have the waveform for each subsequent mp3 to be "loading" before the prior mp3 ends? Also, when using the waveform, it would be helpful if you could add another spot of information in the bottom line of the custom sync box. The name of the mp3 file that is playing would be helpful. I would think this would be very simple but would help when using multiple sound files. If you could implement both of the above items it would really help, because as it now is, with the waveform not always displayed, and no name of music file, it is difficult to know where the show is as far as music and where it begins and ends each new piece. Thank you for all your great work. If the above is not clear, please ask me to explain better.

About a month ago I posted a little "Linger" show on Beechbrook. I thought I would try an experiment by not mentioning it here - and see what comments it might get just from the posting. Well, almost a month and 200+ downloads, and 0 comments. I'm not sure what my experiment proves, but perhaps it's time to grovel for comments. Does anyone have any comment?

Just for the record - Igor had told us a while ago that the light-table sort was on the way.
