Dennis, I held off my answer, thinking you would have received a better answer by now. If I assume you want 6 seconds viewing per slide, your 150 photos result in a PTE show of 15 minutes. My experience, on slow (750mhz) pc with DVD burner, is it takes much, that is much longer than 8 minutes for me to make a DVD of the PTE show. I'm sorry I don't have documented times to give you. Ken documents well many of his efforts and may be able to come up with some actual times that might be helpful to you.
-
Alan, I will just butt in here and suggest you may find very helpful the tututorial of Al Robinson which is posted on Beechbrook. Al's PTE Tutorial 101 is on page 5 of the presentations. That should answer your sound sync question and many more that you haven't even met yet. Enjoy

Thanks Guido, the dropload.com would be fine. Every email I have ever had should still work. Do you have any idea about the "speaker" ikon? And anything re Granot?
-
Certainly no need for apologies bjc. In fact what you have found is quite interesting to me. I think probably Igor might also be interested. What do you think Guido?

Granot, are you back? From vacation? From bad health? I do hope you are doing well. I decided today to try MultiPlayer and MultiPlayer Tool to put together a "baby sitter" for a grandchild who was "working" with me here. Both your utilities worked slick and quick for this momentary need. I chose 5 of my own short family shows and then wanted to include your (Dancing) Skeleton. The files I came up with, don't do what I remember! (Surely, the files have changed, not my memory. ) When I run the file I have, there is no audible sound but only a speaker ikon appears in the upper left of the screen for the first few seconds while the skeleton is dancing. Can you explain this? I can't find a cursor willing to click the speaker ikon. I am sure I had previously run your Skeleton.exe file that had the skeleton dancing right to the music! The file I have is Skeleton.exe 2277kb, 9/22/02. The only other version I find is apparently a screen saver only, that is still available on your web site. Did the conversation of a few weeks ago end up with anyone having the non-screensaver version with sound?
-
You have also turned over another diagnostic idea of trying the "problem" mp3 file in your show but do it with Version 4.2.
-
I think I would try first to convert your wave to mp3 using a different converting program. I use Accoustica but dbPowerAmp (mentioned recently) is popular and free. If that is what you already use, then try another. Also, can you re-create the problem with any other wav file?
-
Brian, I think it would be very nice of you, if you would post a zip file on Beechbrook which could contain your "Setup instructions, the Template of your setup, and the short demo exe file. I'm quite certain Beechbrook Bill (Cottage) would welcome it on his site. If for some reason that would not work, I could store it on my site, at least for a while, for interested parties to download.

I think the copyright situation for the music in your shows is absurd. Does the music composer or even a CD publishing company think they would lose potential revenue by letting you show your presentations to scattered individuals around the world?! If I don't hear their music, I am sure not to buy it. If I do hear the music in the context of a pte show, I might be a potential customer for the music. I think this is absolutely a different situation than a world wide sharing of music through peer-to-peer setups. I certainly am not blaming our forum members or any PTE users. I understand that you are just explaining the situation as it is. But it is simply an absurd result from presumeably a good intent. -

I second the congratulations expressed by Al! I think many forum members would like to view these high caliber shows. I also think it a shame that such fine work finds such stunted distribution because of the copyright issues. If any creator can figure a "safe" way to share, please do. -
I can of course only speak for myself, but I doubt that your show has offended viewers. I think the few comments in spite of 140 dl's is not unusual. I almost always encourage more comments and try to offer comments, but as you can observe, I had not commented on your show. I guess none of us always do what we think should be done. I think the three most common reasons for no response are: 1. Viewer feels his thoughts would be repeats of comments already made. 2. Viewer feels presumptious to comment on obviously well done shows. 3. Viewer is "normal" person who wants to do more than he ever gets around to. On the other side of the coin, if a creator is looking for comments, they can be so helpful - from critique of techniqe to opinions that build or shatter egos - all are worthwhile. And, as I have said before, "Silence can be so easily misunderstood! So after that lengthy generic comment, let me mention your show. I enjoyed your show. I thought it was well done. I think it encourages a thoughtful moment. I would hope no-one would understand it to be an offense. I would say your show reached me but I don't know if I felt it as strong as some other viewers did. That is not to mean any less the value of your show. I think with any show, the viewer sees it through the infinite experiences that have shaped each viewers life. I think your show should have meaning to everyone and as evidenced by other comments, has deep meaning to some. Important: Comments or not, please share some more of your productions.

I have never heard this before. Would this apply only to scanned images as opposed to digital camera originals?

Welcome to the forum. I and most users prefer using the MP3 and don't complicate life by going with the WMA format. It is my impression that Pictures to Exe does indeed handle wma just fine, but the problems are inherent in the "features" and characteristics of wma. To my knowledge there is no setting in PTE to effect whether a wma file works or not. Realizing that you already have the desired music in wma, you may be able to use a sound editor/conversion program to convert your tracks to mp3. Things are typically a little quiet on Friday-Saturday in this forum. But you will probably soon receive more specific answers from those who have dealt with wma. In the mean time, using the search feature in this forum may yield the exact help you need. And when you find your solution, you can report back here what worked for you. Good luck.

I think Curt, that with a "job" like that, you don't need any advice from anyone! Seriously, welcome to the forum. There will be some answers better than mine. I have never owned a digital projector but have used 5 or 6 different ones. My only advice would be to do as you are trying to do - either view the projected images by each one or at very least ask for personal experiences. But even with honest answers, it is hard to get accurate estimate of how you will like any given result. In your case, it might be worth finding a dealer who can do side-by-side comparison demos for you.

Good news about problem with Ulead DMF 2 and 3
LumenLux replied to Igor's topic in General Discussion
Thank you Igor. This may be the same bug that was wrestled with in 4.20? Nice of you to still go after it - now you will get it! -
I think I may have dl'd before you updated. When I read of Ron's success, I dl'd again and found the file date was more recent. With that most recent file 9/15 5:15 p.m. there is no problem with the "continue". You got it cleared up.
-
Thanks again. Now another path to explore - sometime.
-
Thank you Igor, for such helpful info. I don't suppose there is similar capability with the Palm OS used on so many PDA's?
-
Another get-well card: The fixed version still won't move from Step 3. Although Tool is not yet ready, I am already forgetting how to use MultiShow Player without it. Tool will really be quick and slick for Player.
-
No, I did not run into the problem Ron described. (If I understand where he means.) But now the Continue button refuses to work from Step 3. (It works fine from Step 2, which you just fixed.) Really, though Granot, we can all wait until your health returns!
-
I can confirm Ron's experience. In your latest version Granot, after creating the .ord file (step 2), the program will not respond to the "Continue" button. I tested with the same 72 shows that was previously producing the "recurse" error. This latest version handled the 72 shows with no "recurse' error window, but now will not "continue." Of course working from your sick bed is not required. But knowing you, this kind of problem might help get your mind off uh -
-
Very fascinating. Held my interest. Great execution. Please come forward and accept your prize.
-
Come on Granot, just get a chair like the rest of us.
-
Guido, I too don't have it on my current machine. I may have it on a cd, or another pc. I would think that Ken Cox probably has it in his well organized library.
-
Ken, I am glad you enjoyed this glimpse (and glimpse is really all it is. ) Related to another topic you recently originated, I really enjoy most of the "personal" shows that are posted. Among the many members of this forum are many diverse talents. Not all of us have the same artistic talents nor geographic opportunities. We all do have an excellent program from Igor that allows us a way to share what we think may be interesting. Many shows won't appeal to everyone, but I think we can be sure that every show is meaningful to at least the creator. Whether it be the pure artistic creativity of some, a new use of PTE, or a glimpse into life in Lithuania, I think it is great that we as viewers have such a grand opportunity.
