  1. The Beechbrook Cottage site seems to be down at the moment. Anyone know why? DaveG P.S. Forgive me if this appears twice - I did not put a title in first time.
  2. Well done Al, That's why I couldn't get a hyperlink to run a video clip when answering MissyD's query. Many thanks, DaveG
  3. Same as Ron plus I find the multiple formats extremely distracting. There is enough material in there to do 2 or three individual shows on different subjects. With the variety of monitor resolutions being what it is I set my shows to play in a 1024x768 window and crop my JPEGS to suit (keeps the total file size down). I have tried to avoid portrait shots ever since I started doing AVs and this helps to keep the aspect ratio uniform. Your images are ranging from (around) 1024x768 to full screen on my 1280x960 monitor and I suspect that some are fit-to-screen? On the positive side the photography is excellent. I liked some of the macro/close-up stuff and the jumping fish was well caught. I am presently engaged on a project to photograph a river and for what it is worth I have formed the opinion that it is better to shoot up river than down river. Likewise it is more interesting if canooists (?) are coming toward you than going away. Well done, DaveG
  4. You can create a HYPERLINK in Object Editor to "Open Application and/or Run File". I have just tried this with a .WMV file and got it to work. However, I had to disable synchronise with music in order to do this. The slide from which you are linking needs to be set to run for the duration of the video clip or longer (I think). When the video clip finishes the Application (Windows Media Player for instance) has to be shut down manually. A second Hyperlink needs to be added to go to "next slide" when you return to P2E. There might be variations on this but those are my findings so far. DaveG
  5. Consider a USB/Firewire External Drive like the Iomega which comes with Auto Backup software - you don't have to worry about remembering to back up it does it every hour / 2 hours / daily etc. (USB is slightly faster than Firewire but the advantage of Firewire is that you can daisy chain them). When your HDD starts to get full you can delete the files which you haven't touched for a while and the USB Backups become your primary copies. When the USB drive starts to get full you can back up to DVD all the files you haven't touched for a couple of years. Do frequent Defraggs on ALL drives even if they only contain data. File naming: My prefered method is to file by DATE first in the yy/mm/dd format - that way they come out in a logical order - followed by any other reference you wish to make. DaveG
  6. Come on guys - you either want protection or you don't!! If you do, then Igor's method makes sense - you should be the only one to unlock it. If you are going to send it to someone who might want to unlock it with your permission - don't password it in the first place. Isn't all this going to take up Igor's valuable time which could be better spent on providing us mere mortals with the features we really want. In my case that means pan and zoom and more bells and whistles in the Object Editor. DaveG
  7. How many slides? Total duration of music? Auto sync or Custom sync? In the Timeline did you try clicking on Auto Sync and then in Timed Points: Arrange all points? DaveG
  8. See my original answer to Richhaas regarding the Timeline above? DaveG
  9. You are correct - you don't need to delete. We can all learn here! Glad it worked, DaveG
  10. Go to the timeline. Click on Timed Points Click on Delete all transition points Go back into Timed Points Click on Add Arranged Points Try that? DaveG
  11. Apologies! I was looking for something entitled "Versailles" or similar - silly me!! I agree - superb photography in almost perfect conditions. I was unable to view the pans because my monitor here is set to a higher resolution than 1024x768. If "Windowed Mode" had been used it would have worked, even on my setup. Well done Daniel, DaveG
  12. Excuse me if I am missing something, but where can I view this show? DaveG
  13. Perhaps Igor could put a real time clock in the bottom right hand corner counting DOWN to the end?...................... DaveG
  14. In vertical view: In the bottom section of the middle pane you will see: Show Image Comment Sound You can attach a different sound to individual slides here (the backing track is added in Project Options / Music). DaveG
  15. Hi Andy, Whilst I agree with your original suggestion about running time and also, possibly, about screen resolution etc I wonder if the correct place for all this information is not in a readme file contained within a zipped folder together with the show? A lot of people do this and it is common practice in a lot of shows downloaded from Beachbrook. However, how many of us read the readme files? On your other point about the resolution of shows mine are made at 1024x768 because that is the current "standard" sensible size of projectors currently available (larger resolutions available at much higher prices). But I always set my show up to play in a 1024x768 window and not "fit to page". I recently saw one of my shows on a friends computer set to the maximum res of his 19 inch Sony monitor - it looked rather ridiculous in the middle of the screen but I think it would have been really gritty if I had not fit to the 1024x768 window. The other point is that to maintain the same quality at higher resolutions will bump the file size up considerably. So, to sum up, all of this info is valid but where is the correct place for it - slide 1 or in a readme file? I'll go for the readme file. DaveG
  16. Welcome Tim, I believe you are the Tim whose m/c also wanted you to install Quicktime when you loaded the demo version of P2E? It sounds as though your m/c is the culprit in all of this. I would certainly try running your ten slides with a silent soundtrack to enable you to use the timeline. That way you can ensure that your settings do not give you overlapping slides and haven't done something silly there. Silent files are easy to make in AUDACITY. Bottom line, though, it sounds like your "tweaked to perfection" m/c is maybe a tad too tweaked? You ask if Admin ever look in - see the "Is Quicktime Required" thread. Best wishes, DaveG
  17. I recommended P2E to someone over at the NIKONIANS forum and he gave it a try. However during the installation 'he says' that the programme insisted on having to install QUICKTIME as part of the package. I don't recall having to do this when I installed a year or two back. Anyone have any knowledge of what might be happening here? He says he will not even try P2E if it means having to install Quicktime. (I don't think he likes it!). DaveG
  18. I'll second that! Who needs words when the images of Andalucian scenery are put together in such a professional, interesting way? Top marks, DaveG
  19. I have used this effect a number of times since it was first brought to the attention of the forum and had no problems with white lines etc. Perhaps it is to do with the way the two images are being produced. My method is to start with a 2048x768 image and then set my crop dimensions in photoshop to 1024x768. I first do a crop from the top left and save the result as the "a" version. Then I go back a few steps in the history pallette and do a crop from top right and save as the "b" version. Never had a white, or any other colour, line and never had to adjust for an extra pixel. Magic! DaveG
  20. Hi Ron, Possible answer: Most Mini-Disc Player/Recorders have an optical output. (My Sony has). Edirol (Roland) make an Optical to USB adaptor which I use to transfer audio from my Mini Disc or my 16 track to my computer keeping everything in the digital domain and with no impedance matching problems. I then use either Roxio 7 or Audacity to create MP3 files of whatever compression ratio suits the audio. I hope that is of some help? Dave G
  21. Guru has some music at his site for download: http://www.guru.to.it/en/summary.htm DaveG
  22. Zipped Folder: If you are using Windows XP you can right click just about anywhere and create a "new" - " compressed (zipped) folder" - then just drag and drop your exe file onto the new folder and it is done. DaveG
  23. Like Ron I can also recommend EZ CD Creator. However I would strongly recommend that you save an IMAGE FILE in the first instance and then when ready you can double click on the ISO file and this will open "Disc Copy". I have had far more success this way than trying to do it all in one process. The quality of the DVD (regardless of the software used) is nowhere near as good as the EXE file on your computer. DaveG
  24. Using your audio editor (I use AUDACITY) you can create a library of "silent" MP3 files of 2sec, 5sec, 10sec etc for future use. Alternatively and preferably, the length of silence you require could be introduced into your single MP3 file. Bear in mind that, as with JPEGs, if you re-open your original MP3 and save it again you apply more compression. I think I am right in saying that you should always start with your original WAV files when editing to produce the final MP3. If I am wrong about that I am sure the kind people here will correct me.
