Ron, You need a 1024x768 or bigger but the price goes up disproportionately when you go to the next level. If at all possible make sure that the res of your computer matches the projector res and try to avoid a widescreen laptop. This topic has been discussed before but I can't remember exactly when. For the slide that you wish to add text to: Click on "Object Editor" - Text ikon - drag text box into position - click on properties to edit the "text text text" and OK when finished. Alternatively add the text in photoshop etc. Best wishes, DG.

A MAC running virtual PC is able to open and run exe files. I hope that helps. DaveG

hi Ken, I did not try a three way crop. I don't think you will get rid of the blip and it would annoy me probably more than it would annoy the viewer. I will take another look to see if it can be done. It might be possible without music but every time I try to set a gap of less than around 300ms with music it does not like it. Likewise the the MIDI - never used it. Perhaps you or someone else could comment on the amount of compression you use when creating MP3 files? DaveG

I agree with Bill. The text editor is adequate for all my needs and any work spent on upgrading it would take valuable time away from other, possibly more urgent, refinements. DaveG

My first reaction to Jaz' post was that he had "overlapping" slides. If you look at the timeline you should be able to see a little "daylight" between all slides. If you can't then try creating some daylight and try again? DaveG

Hi all, I have tried this effect (all combinations - right to left; top to bottom etc) with some slides of my own and can confirm that it works with synchronised music. I reduced the gap between the slides to the minimum possible (<50ms) and it still played OK with NO glitches. I used the 1024x768 format and divided each picture into 4 equal parts in PS CS and there were absolutely NO joins visible - magic! I have burned a DVD (using ROXIO EZ7) and still no glitches. Hi all, I tried this method of creating a panning panorama on my computer with 1280x960 LCD monitor. I then told PTE to create the show in 1024x768 format in a window. This solved the problem of the black bar and allowed the panning panorama to work very smoothly abeit within a 1024x768 window on a 1280x960 monitor. Presumably this will now work on any size monitor (including a 1024x768 but no smaller). I have, in the past, had problems with setting anything less than 300ms duration of slide (when synchronised to music). I wonder how setting a 1ms duration AND synchronising to music will effect the smoothness of the show??? More later. DaveG

jevans: I don't fully understand your comments but, SYP will give you the total duration of your show and allow for the choosing of a piece of music of the correct time. Another way around it is to keep adding music files of silence to your show until finished, at which time you can choose your music to replace the silent files. I hope that helps? DaveG

Why use Photoshop - simply add the text as an OBJECT to a series of blank slides in PTE. I find that as easy as using Powerpoint with the added advantage of better transitions. DaveG

Hi Severn Bore, I tried downloading a number of times and there was no difference BUT I have now solved it. Because of the way some of these files are Zipped I sometimes get offered the opportunity to "Extract" into a seperate folder or to "Run". I usually accept this offer to extract (as opposed to "Running"). At the extract stage this one asked for a password. However, when I clicked on "Run" all was well. You live, you learn! DaveG.

To Bill, Just a small point: If you use the yy/mm/dd format instead then your Files/Folders will show in a more orderly manner in Explorer. Best wishes, DaveG

The last time I tried SYP it did not recognise the new page curl transition and threw a tantrum. Has anyone else had this experience? Or is there a new version? DaveG

I don't know if that can be done but with some applications changing the date on your computer works. If you know the date it expired set your computer to a date one day before expiry? It might work, DG.

I don't claim to understand all that has been said about the workings of the Custom Synchronisation interface but here are my experiences with the current beta: I have a sequence of 35 slides with music and with the Custom Sync option ticked I have each slide showing for approx 6 seconds (2 second transition). Step 1: I added a new side between slide one and slide two (dragged from left hand panel to right hand panel and dropped between 1 and 2) Step 2: In the Custom Sync interface I added a new transition at 2.5 seconds which had the effect of pushing the original number two slide onwards by 10 seconds - I do not understand that. However, by clicking on the last transition button (which is almost off screen) and shift/clicking on the third slide I am able to pull the third and all subsequent slides back to where they originally were i.e. number two slide at 2.5 seconds and number three slide at approx. 6 seconds. Can anyone explain the 10 second jump? DaveG.

I wish I could suggest one which is good enough for this sort of work, but I can say that you should avoid low end models such as the Hitachi CP-X275 and variants. They refuse to show anything near what you see on your monitor especially in the Yellows and Oranges. I suppose you have to pay that bit extra for quality. Like Ed I would welcome any reviews of projectors thought to be good enough for this sort of work. DaveG

Butterflies: Superb photography and excellent presentation. If I were being hyper-critical I would like to see all of the images a little bigger. I reset my screen resolution to 1024x768 and even then they could have been a little bigger on screen. The music issue: if copyright were not an issue a suggestion would be Dolly Parton's composition of the same name. Thanks for sharing. DaveG

I agree with Lumenlux. Excellent use of both PTE and Photoshop(?). I can see that the new PTE effect is going to become a standard opening effect! Well done. DaveG

Nothing wrong with that Leif. If you have a copy of the previous version of the .exe stored safely you can easily revert to it if anything goes wrong. DaveG

Hi Cici, Neither can a transparent GIF (other than in OBJECT Editor) - unless I am mistaken. Apologies, I was merely making the point that as far as Transparent images go GIF was not the only option. We can even produce transparent TIFs these days. I do all of that sort of manipulation in PS so the need for GIF or PNG does not arise very often. But on those occasions when it does (Powerpoint etc) I find that PNG is the better option. DaveG

GIF is not the only transparent image option. Depending on your application the PNG24 format is perhaps a better option from the "save for web" dialogue. There are no choices to make! The down side is that the files are larger. I now use this format almost exclusively for transparent images in Powerpoint Presentations but would agree that the file size makes it perhaps a non starter for PTE. DaveG
