  1. Chappers, There is a way of doing this ~ but you have to exit the Main Show to a Secondary Show ~ then 'Auto-Return' to the Main Show. I have done this with some of my 'Bavarian Shows' where I exited the Main Show to do a Manual Data Show and then returned to the Main Show. (The Manual Show included Pdf Maps, Food Menu's, URL Database). Select 'Project Options', select 'Advanced Tab' now Tick 'Run Application after Last Slide' now Click.on the small Green ? Question Mark and a few script options will open up ? Select what you need and accurately type it into the small Window beside the ? Mark. Save it.(It takes a bit of practice) This little known facility dramatically expand the "intelligence" of the PTE Program beyond recognition. It makes the Presentations become "inter-active" with the Viewer and most are "agog" when they see what it can do. I must say thanks to Igor again, as he instructed me in this Process. It would be really nice if others took up this little facility and used it more often. Brian.Conflow.
  2. Stuck Counter, I give up ~ there is something definitely wrong with the 'Counter Incrimental Logic' My findings are:- 1) If you make a Reply within the 'Posting Window of a Member' the counter will not incriment. 2) If you make an immediate Reply using the 'Reply Button' at the end of the Web page ~ No Count. 3) If you make a Reply directly after somebody else's Reply ~ bingo it works! 4) If you quit the Program and re-enter it and make a Reply ~ it works. (I have just done that and you will note the Count is 376) It looks to me as if 'Invision Board' have got their logic mixed up ?? Brian.Conflow.
  3. Counter, Al thats very strange, because I replied to Igor by both methods (non-counting), viz:- 1) By using the 'Direct Reply Button' at the bottom of 'Igor's Posting Window'......Thats a genuine Reply 2) By using the 'New Reply Button' at the bottom of this Web Page.......That also is a genuine Reply Neither method works ~ So I am trying this 'New Message' again this Morning and hopefully it goes to Count 375 ? I have used the "Add Reply Button" at the end of the Web Page. Brian.Conflow. Counter Test No:2 I am now replying to my 'Previous Post' above and wish to see will it go to 376 ? Brian.Conflow
  4. Hi Igor, I am just replying 'directly' into your Post (above) to see will if it incriment the count. I am also replying 'outside' of your Post 'No2 reply Button' to see will it incriment. Brian.Conflow Hi Igor, This is generated by the No:2 Reply Button as I indicated before. Brian.Conflow
  5. Hi Igor, It seem's that the 'Posting Counters' are stuck again ~ mine is at 372 for the past month ? Brian.Conflow.
  6. "Now the reason for this post.... It gets to about the 3rd slide and skips, and seems to be like a record where it justs repeats between slide 2-3....No probs delete slide 3, just pushed the problem a little further down"...quoted. Atlas, The above is much too vague ~ what are you doing ?, what are you trying to "add" to your EMail and how ? 1) A Show pt.File with/without Music ? 2) A Show Exe.File with/without Music ? 3) A Show Template File with/without Music ? 4) Whats the duration of each Slide ? 5) Whats the duration of each Effect ? 6) What format of Music/Comments are you using ? 7) Are you working off the Hard Drive ? - or from a Copy on a CD ? - or an EMail Attachment ? These questions will need answers before anybody can help. You may need to read up on some of the excellent 'Tutorials' available elsewhere on this Forum, a simple request for same will get a response and will get the ball rolling for you. Brian.Conflow.
  7. FDB15 Frankie, I appreciate your dilema, the fact that you are a 'Newcomer' to the PTE Program and this Forum. The previous contributors have given you good advice so I would save their Postings for future reference. Picture Size(s):- There are 'generalised' International Standards adopted by many Countries who provide ISP Services to millions of people. These would not necessarily be those used by PTE Forum Members but would be sufficient to 'get you going' so you become familiar with PTE. 1). Should you wish to send a few Photos to friends as EMail Attachments in such a way that delivery is nearly 90% certain. Restrict your Images to 640 x 480 Pixels (more later) Won't work with 'Free EMail' such as 'Hotmail', 'Messenger' etc etc. 2) Should you wish to send a small PTE Program as an Attachment to an EMail:- Restrict your Images to 800 x 600 Pixels in JPeg Format where each image is less than 100kB in size. The 'Sound File' should be an MP3 File made at FM.Quality Sound. Restrict the Show to 20(megabyte). This will guarantee that the 'Viewer' can see it on 12" ~15" ~17" and Larger Screens and on smaller Laptops and PC's as well as the "Big Boys" and on '98, ME' XP' 2000 and nearly all Windows Systems. YOU NEED 2 PROGRAMS Both Programs are 'Free', the first is "Pixresizer 1.07" from www.bluefive.com This will re-size your Pictures automatically and you can create a 'Holding File' for the resized Images without changing the size of the origionals Photos. The 2nd. is "Audacity" which can convert your Sounds into MP3 Sound Format available form:- www.audacity.soundforge.net Both Programs come with good 'Help Instructions' Finally, for PTE Presentations the 'Adopted Image Standard' is 1024 x 768 Pixels with MP3 Sound Format and picture sizes about 150kilobyte. These Images & Presentations can be 'burnt' to CD-Rom Disc which you can distribute to Friends. Hope this gets you on your way..... Brian.Conflow.
  8. Any DVD Thats a nice one Lin, many thanks. Brian.Conflow
  9. STONEMASON. Geoff, You are absolutely correct ~ I had diagnosed that particular problem some time ago but did not want to contribute my findings to the Forum should I cause more 'grief' that what was going on at that time. 'Windows Media Player 10' does not use a Lame Encoder nor an equivalent device nor does it use a Frauendofer type device. The New MP3 Codec/Encoder within WinPlayer 10 was "imposed" on Microsoft by the 'Digital Rights Management Association' (A la Copyright Association) of America. Its nothing to do with Microsofts WMA Format, you simply convert that to WAV ~ Its all to do with inate greed and 3rd Party Music Sources, such as Sony, Warner Brothers, etc,etc..... My simple reading of the 'Tech Data" is that 'Win Media Player 10' recognises hidden Tags within the Music stream, somewhat similar to the 'Sony Rootkit' Tags which are dropped into to your PC and when one tries to "copy" or "rip" that Music, those tags go over into the Copy to prevent its re-use in other Music Engines. To get around that one could use raw PCM Format (A La Audacity) or just the simple Analog Music Stream and convert that back into a Digital Format. (I use Sound Recorder Pro) (I'm sure there is somebody on the Forum who will give us a more precise interpretation of the facts) The new version of "WinAmp" also suffers from this 'Mogul Disease' ~ much to it's detriment as it was an extremely good Multi-Media player before those draconial impositions. Hope this helps somewhat.... Brian.Conflow.
  10. Just an Experiment.... There are 2 Reply Buttons at the end of the Page...Quote/Reply...and lower down...Add Reply beside New topic. I have selected the ...Add Reply Button for this Post and I wonder will Kens Post be added on top of my Reply. Brian.Conflow. Quik Edit:- The Post above is standing in it's own Window
  11. Program Auto-Installers Hi Guys, The following PTE Show "Auto-Installers" are quite good but like all new Programs you will need to spend a little while becomming familiar with them. 'Clickteam Install Creator' from:- www.clickteam.com 'Setup Stream' for those who want more control, from:- www.virtualzone.de These Programs and others are also available from:- www.snapfiles.com Hope this helps, Brian.conflow.
  12. Carlos, "Running off a CD" can creates many problems which have been discussed on the Forum many times before. The major problem are that you don't know the "Set-Up" of your friends Computers ~ What Operating System is being used ? ~ Whats the Processor Speed ? ~ How much 'User Memory' is available ? and whether or not the CD-Rom Drive has its own Cache Memory ? Apart from Desktop PC's ~ Most all 'low-cost' Laptops have slow CD-ROM Drives which don't like 'live' running Exe's. After a few years, we finally gave up on sending 'Autorun PTE CDs' to friends ~ Now we only send out CD's which have an 'Auto-Installer' in the CD package. You simply place the CD in the drive and the 'Installer' does the rest automatically. What are the advantages? ~ Even the slowest PC can run the PTE Show properly as it's coming off the Hard Drive and the PC itself creates enough 'Virtual Memory' to do the task asked of it ! Another advantage is that its virtually 'idiot proof' - no human intervention required except press the 'Run Button'. You can Uninstall-Install as often as needed and you can circulate the same CD amongst Friends with a very high confidence that it's going to work 9 out of 10 times ~ Thats not bad ! Brian. Conflow Services.
  13. Shik Lee, Thats a very unusual fault as you appear to have done everything that Ken suggested ~ may I ask, does your PC play an ordinary CD-Music Disc ? ~ or is it likely that your 'Sound Output Plug' has become disconnected ? ~ if you are having problems here, simply plug a pair of Headphones into the 'Sound Socket' on the front of the CD-Drive Unit and see if you can get sound there? ~ if you do it means there is sound on the CD then the 'fault' is most likely due to a set-up problem (missing driver) or your Sound Card may have gone dud, or indeed the Pte program may have been corrupted. The reason I make these simple suggestions is because we all take 'things for granted' ~ and because 'No Sound Problems' are usually associated with simple things which are often overlooked, so before you start doing something drastic make sure you haven't overlooked something. 14. Hi All, I just spent the afternoon exploring a fasinating New web Site:- "Simply the Best" (link) http://simplythebest.net/ Its very unique in that it offers Public Domain Utilities such as: Downloadable 'True Type Fonts' ~ 'A/V Utilities' ~ 'Drivers for all Monitors and CD-Rom Devices' and much more.... Its a lovely clean site and well worth a visit and you may pick-up that hard to get utility. Brian.Conflow.
  15. Shik Lee, First check this:- Double Click the 'Loudspeaker Icon' down to the lower RH.side of your Screen. Check that the 'Output' and 'Wave' Sliders are not muted, and they should be at least ½ way level ~ its likely to be as simple as that ! Brian.Conflow.
  16. Hi Lumenlux, Yes, your comment is quite true, many people use imported 'True Type Fonts' (and others) and then find that they do not reproduce on other PC's as they had intended ~ particularily if they were imported into Web Sites. Problems arise when users unwittingly import 'Font Types' origionally intended for another Operating System such as '95, '98' '98se, Me, etc etc. To make it simple, its very difficult to forward engineer old Font Types to suit modern Operating Systems such as XP, 2000, 2003, conversely you will find that modern Font Types will reproduce differently on the older OP.Systems. Here listed are some of the 'truly' Universal Font Types which seem to work on everything,in particular "Verdana" is specially engineered for WSeb Sites, the other are:- Arial, Garamond, Tahoma and Microsoft Sans Serif. You might like to check out this Link:- http://simplythebest.net This site is an amazing repository of Font Types and other Public Domain Utilities. Brian.Conflow
  17. Al, You're probably right about the Trial version ~ I simply responded as she said she was having 'invalid code errors' and the Program wouldn't Load coming off a CD-Disc, and Barry not being back till 22nd. Hope she got sorted out without having to wait too long. Brian.Conflow.
  18. Felicity, Why don't you 'Log-On' to the PTE.Website and download the most recent copy of the PTE Program ? You will find a "direct link" to PTE shown as www.wnsoft.com up - To the very top left side of this 'Screen Page' just under the "Invision.Power-Board" (title) - click that and it brings you directly to the site. And yes, your current 'Registration Number' will be acceptable ~ Brian.Conflow.
  19. Hi there, Did you 'Synchronise' the Slideshow to the Music Timeline prior to making your CD-Disc ? If not, there will always be timing differences ranging from 'slight' to 'severe slip' depending on your Operating System, available user Memory, and the type of CD Drive in use. Automatic Synchronisation or Custom Synchronisation will sort out these problems provided you forgot to use the 'Synchronisation Utility' which is part of the PTE.Program Brian.Conflow.
  20. BJC, Yes, the 'Template' option will archive All Images & Sounds that were used in the PTE.Exe Production. However its not a complete 'Archival' answer to all the materials that were used during Production. In my case, I create a 'Master Folder' with all Images & Sounds contained there-in. I 'drag' the Images into PTE as well as the Sounds. I run PTE. and Save As the .pt File. Now if I wish to 'edit' anything I revert to the Master Folder, select an Image, call it:- Image-01, edit that and save the edit as Image-011 and use that in the Show and of course make a Template of the Show. Now my Master Folder contains the 'Origional Images & Sounds' plus the 'Edited Images & Sounds' as a PTE.Template, plus the Show.Exe. I 'burn' the whole Master Folder to a CD-Disc ~ this allows me to use the Master Folder as the Source Folder for an 'Autorun Utility' and also for an 'Auto-Install Utility' and as a 'Master Archive' to burn off additional copies as I want them. It also means that I can go to a Photo Studio and get a set of Prints from the CD-Master. It means that I have a 'Hard-Copy' of everything used during the PTE.Production ~ which free's up space on the PC. This technique may be of some help to you.... Brian.Conflow.
  21. Bill, I completely agree with you ~ but I think it's 'wishful thinking'. There are those that crave attention and are hell bent on getting it from their peer's by fair mean's or foul. It wouldn't dawn on them to do a fair days' work and get paid for it ~ what a waste of talent !! Brian.Conflow
  22. Ken & Larry Thanks again you Guy's for those little 'timesaver-tips'...most important ! I shall let you know how things proceeded. Brian.Conflow.
  23. Pete,LumenLux and Ken, Many thanks Guys for the information. Yes, I have S-Video Output from an installed Video Card with Mini 5pin Din Socket, and yes again, I always use 'Full-Screen' with PTE for my own Presentations. I take the point about S-Video compared to Composite Video and in Ireland we use the PAL System. I also have 2 x Nicam Stereo Mitsubishi VTR Recorders so it looks as if I am fairly well set-up in the Hardware Department. Last question:- Is there anything special I have to do when making the PTE.Exe, do I need an AVI File of this ? The Background:- My client requested a number of Copies of a 'PTE.Instructional Presentation' on Video Tape as it was the most common Universal Format available to their Students. Absolute quality is not an issue as these VTR Presentations are for Data Training purposes and must withstand the "rough & tumble" of Engineering Students and in that theater CD-Disc didn't stand a chance.....we were all Students once upon a time ! Again many thanks to you Guys for your prompt courteous help, it's most appreciated.... Brian.Conflow.
  24. Granot, Yes,the one you have is the current version. Let me explain:- * For Security reasons Microsoft release a brand new version of the Program each December with updates during the Year. This is the 3rd Program of Beta-1 so I call it Beta 1.3 ~ sorry about that. * Microsoft also "upgrade your PC.System for free" as well as upgrading the Microsoft Anti-Spyware Program during the Year. This is all part and parcel of establishing the "Spynet Community" with Norton, McAfee and other's. * Design Intent As you probably know, many years ago Microsoft had an internal secuirity leak at their Headquarters and lots of 'source-code' was stolen. They corrected the breach and for the past 2 years have been changing their source code to prevent 'Hackers' from gaining access to their Software Systems. The 'Job' is now done and to stay ahead Microsoft Beta-1 was designed and it keeps on changing, so also the source codes keep changing. Now the 'Hackers' are trying to gain access to Norton and other Anti-Virus Systems which is being foiled by the 'Spynet Community. I think they have done an excellent job ! and I for one am grateful for the advanced security features it offers. Brian.Conflow.
  25. PTE to VTR Tape (PAL System) Recently I have been asked to convert a small PTE.Exe Show to (PAL) VTR Tape ~ In other words can I record a small PTE.Exe to a Video Tape Recorder/Player ? Hardware is no problem but I have failed to find a Software Utility that can do this. Hardware SKART Connections are available. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Brian.Conflow.
