  1. Igor, very sorry but I've resized the images back to 1024 by 682 and the problem has gone away. exe is now half the size. Regards, Dave
  2. Tom, If I use F9 I don't seem to get the problem; if I use "Publish" I get it sometimes - it's intermittent. It is a very large show with 100+ 1620 by 1080 pixel images; the first show using this size image instead of 1024 by 682. Since this is a new version thought Igor might want to see this error, Yes, it's just this one show - the 40+ others made in earlier versions have been recompiled in v7 without any issues Dave
  3. When creating an .exe in v7.0 using the "Publish" button I have experienced the following error several times: I have never had the error when using F9 The only way out is to give P2E the three fingered salute P.C. runs Windows 7 32 bit and has the latest patches applied. Have I found a bug? Regards, Dave
  4. The .pte file can easily be edited in Notepad. This is what I did when I swapped to a new computer and the shows, pictures and music changed from C: to D: Cheers, Dave
  5. O.K. chaps, I've solved the problem but don't ask me how! I have been very careful throughout my testing to ensure that the date/time stamp of created .exes was updated. Tonight I deleted the .exe and recreated it - all went fine. So I went to my backup and brought back the exe from Tuesday and that ran correctly as well. I don't suppose I will ever get to the bottom of it - but many thanks to you all for your help and ideas. If somebody can come up with an answer .... Regards, Dave
  6. Peter the .pte file was opened from within v6.0 Opening the .pte file is notepad shows CreationTool=PicturesToExe Deluxe 6.00 PteVersion=6.00 globalversion=1 minorversion=15 Regards, Dave
  7. I can confirm I was running v6.0. Did a bit more analysis and this is what I found: A show created new in v6.0 has the correct startup screen, A show created in 5.6 that has never had a startup screen has the correct screen added, and A show created in earlier versions, had a startup screen that was removed in the earlier version exhibits the issue described above, which leaves me wondering if there is something slightly out of place in the .pte file Hope this helps, Regards, Dave
  8. Not sure if this is relevant but this show did have a startup screen as one point; this was removed a while back when I switched to 5.0; could there be a hangover in the pte file? Dave
  9. I've just installed v6.0, having not tried any of the betas. Opened a show created without a startup screen in 5.6.4. and it runs fine. Decided to add a startup screen, I went to Project Options | Advanced | "Customised windows" button and checked "Show Startup Window", edited the window and inserted a title. I then ran the show in "preview" and got what I expected - my customised screen - pressed "run" and off we go! Compiled an .exe and tried to run the file. Got the attached screen instead albeit with the correct caption. Have I misunderstood the function of the startup screen or forgotten to do something please? P.C. is running Windows Vista Home Premium with all latest patches installed. Regards, Dave
  10. Mike, Before leaving home I always disable wireless networking for two reasons: Some public wireless networks have been compromised, you don't want to connect to those! e.g. DNS cache poisoning In the UK if you do connect to an unknown network in theory you could end up having your collar felt i.e. being questioned by the police. When I give a public show I always disable auto updates and close down all the odds and sods that run e.g. Toshiba stuff. Regards, Dave
  11. What a marvellous group, as always, - no sooner do I ask a question than I get the answer Yes, I was using The Dom's templates, I loaded them originally when he published them. I've downloaded them again and all is well. In Vista the location of the .ini file is: C:\ProgramData\PicturesToExe\Versions\5.6 Again, many thanks to you all, Dave
  12. I've just updated PTE from v5.1 to v5.6.1 and have come unstuck on a change to Objects and animations. Created a new project and added the slides, music, timeline etc. Have opened the O & A screen on a slide and added a text object. I then went to the "Common" tab, checked the Drop shadow box and pressed customise. Clicked the templates button and expected to see the list of built in templates e.g. Neon etc. Instead it's a menu to save the shadow template or edit a template. How do I get at the old built in shadow templates please as they met my needs? Many thanks, Dave p.s. the upgrade was brought about after my old laptop failed - got a new laptop running the dreaded Vista - less said about Vista the better!
  13. I would find two small improvements to the file panel most helpful: Slides selected in the timeline have their names shown in bold. However those used in O & A as child images are not flagged. Could they be marked in some way please? When I have completed a show I delete all the unused .jpg's using the file panel since I still have the raw images. Would it be possible to have the delete key working in the file panel, preferably only on images that are not used in the slide list or O & A? Thanks, Dave
  14. My Evesham (MSI) laptop has the same problem, the ATI drivers (dated 2004) are the only ones that will work. I look forward to Igor's fix so that I can use my Spyder to calibrate my laptop and projector. Regards, Dave
  15. I have no experience of programs such as the one linked in the URL, so I cannot really offer any advice. I have never felt the need to obscure my IP address, I power my router down overnight so I probably get a different IP address each time I power it on. Regards, Dave
