  1. Ron, Try http://www.speedgraphic.co.uk/ I have found them excellent for all sorts of photo bits & pieces. Cheers, Dave.
  2. Forgot to attach the file!!!! Dave Sample.zip
  3. Igor, In the attached .zip is PTE File containing just the startup screen and the first slide; I've also removed the music. A screenshot of the startup screen; both the image and the screen is 1024 by 768. In 4.48 this startup frame would fill the screen. An .exe of the project Regards, Dave
  4. Igor, The startup screen is now resized but there are still two differences from v4.48: The resized screen is smaller than the desktop; my image is 1024 by 768, the same size as the screen. In 4.48 this used to fill the screen, now the desktop is still visible. Once you press "run" it disappears, the desktop returns and then the slideshow starts. In 4.48 the screen went black and the show started from there. Would it be possible for the startup screen to function in exactly the same way as it did in 4.48 please? Many thanks, Dave
  5. Dave, I raised the orginal question with Igor, but it was never resolved. I am in the process of converting several shows from 4.48 to 5.0 and have taken to removing the start-up screen. With the oversized startup screen I found pressing the spacebar started the show. Regards, Dave
  6. Keith, You might try temporarily disabling your anti-virus software as a test - make sure you are disconnected from the Internet when you do so! The first time you run the .exe the AV software may still be scanning it whereas the second time it's already scanned and runs! A longshot but simple to test. Dave
  7. Ron, To be honest I prefer the 35mm 3:2 ratio to the standard p.c. 4:3 ratio and it's what the D70 shoots anyway. I've only made 3 slideshows in 4:3, the other 20+ are 3:2, not counting 30 years of dual projection. On a slightly different note your v5 tutorials are excellent - I've mastered Scrolling, panning and zooming thanks to them . Dave
  8. For 35 mm slides downsize to 1024 by 682 pixels - 1024 - 768 will result in some cropping of the original image - sorry if I am telling you how to suck eggs! Dave
  9. Paul, Thanks for the info. My laptop screen runs at 1280 by 800, and I project my shows using a Plus Projector at 1024 by 768. I don't see the buttons on either! Hitting the spacebar does start the show. I understand Igor is fixing it in Beta 10. Regards, Dave
  10. Igor, Still have a problem with the custom start screen in Beta 9a. The screen now shows but the "Run" and "Exit" buttons are missing off the bottom (I always untick the "Help" button) so there is no way to run the show. The area appears to be behind the taskbar, but even hiding the taskbar does not allow it to be seen. The startup image is a 1024 by 768 .jpg One slide show without music attached. Regards, Dave Test.zip
  11. I haven't done much with v5.0 so I decided this evening to try Beta 9. Opened a 4.48 project and previewed it. The Custom Startup Window did not show, much to my surprise. So I generated an .exe and ran that - still no startup screen. The Project Options screen has the box ticked for a startup screen and the .bmp file is shown in the startup customize box. Have I missed something? Regards, Dave
  12. I switched to digital AV from dual projection about 18 months ago. When I lecture in Camera Clubs I use a Rotel Amp and a pair of B & W speakers. When projecting my show I use an Evesham laptop (near top of the range) and Plus U7 Projector. The sound was ok with the amp plugged into the earphone socket of the laptop. I've always been fussy about sound quality - this just wasn't up to my standard, However I made a huge leap forward in quality terms when I plugged a Creative soundblaster card into the PCMIA socket - card costs about £50 GBP The card I use: <http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=244&subcategory=250&product=10769> Certainly worth a look! Dave
  13. Igor, Can I second that? I suspect I may speak for many when I say my preference would be have v5.0 released and things like variable zoom rates in added in v5.1. If things keep getting added the much anticipated release of v5 will just be delayed! Keep up the brilliant work
  14. I found the way to get rid of that black bar is in project options - instead of a Full screen select a window, make the size 1024 by 768 and remove the border. Not very pretty but useful for seeing if an effect works without changing resolution. Dave
  15. For my shows in the Camera Clubs I use the Creative Audigy PCMIA card about £50 see http://www.soundblaster.com/products/produ...4&product=10769 This connects to the amp with a mini-jack to two phone plug lead - use a quality one not the cheap one thats little better than wet string! I plug this into a standard Rotel Stereo Amp and a pair of B & W Speakers, together cost £500. At home I use the Augigy card into a Quad bi-amped system with large Catle Howard Speakers - quality is excellent. Does this help? Dave
  16. Spyder PRO comes with a sensor you plug into a USB port. Running the supplied software you place it on the monitor as directed, it runs test patterns and creates a profile. For projectors you set your projector up and run their software. This time the Spyder device is placed on a tripod facing the screen about 12 inches away from it. Again the software runs tast patterns and generates a profile. The software has comprehensive instructions. Make sure you buy the PRO version; the cheaper version does not include the ability to create profiles for projectors. Dave
  17. As a relative newbie to Digital AV having done anaolgue AV for over 30 years I decided to walk the digital route with a laptop last Autumn - settled on an Evesham machine. I would offer three key areas for consideration: Sufficient memory - I went for 1gb and happily run Photoshop Adobe Audition and PTE on the machine. Ensure the grahics is not an onboard chip - these have a habit of carving their memory needs out of the main memory. A giveaway here is 1 gb machine where "My Computer" shows considerably less, usually 64mb 128mb or 256mb less - guess where that has gone. Whilst laptops have soundchips onboard I found a ~£50 Creative Audigy PCMIA sound card gave better replay and better recording. I use the output of this card to feed a quality amp and speakers when projecting in camera clubs. One other accessory to consider - I bought Spyder PRO calibration software. The PRO version not only calibrates the monitor, it can also be used to calibrate the projector via the laptop. I have two profiles, one for the monitor and another for the projector. Hope this helps, Dave
  18. I always disable the wireless connection before showing my AVs. Go to Network Connections on the Start Menu, right click the appropriate connection(s) and click "disable". It stays that way until you re-enable, even over reboots. Dave
