Kruger is a great place. They had a lot of rain a few months ago with flooding. You might find it a little greener than we did. Looking forward to your AV show when you get back.

Thanks Lin The script is always "fun" to do. Say what you want in less than 6 seconds and then move on.....

Don't get too carried away Ken :D Thx

Bill is kindly hosting another show of ours on Beechbrook. This one is entitled "African Safari Experiences". It is intended to show the differences in Safari experiences between Tanzania and South Africa. It is not on YOU TUBE, as YOU TUBE took issue with my not having the full rights to use the music. You can download it from Beechbrook Here

Thanks for hosting, BIll !!! Those are the only two "educational" shows I have (other than PTE/AV tutorials from the old days) that I did. I must admit that I like doing those. Most, but not all, of my shows are travelogues, which one could call semi-educational. I'll post more shows in "due course"

Glad it was helpful. I should look at my shows and see if there is something I can put up from South Africa, in addition to "the Dance" and "African Flowers" that are already on Beechbrook.

You're welcome Lin. Up here syrup producers use a production of one litre of finished syrup per tap as an estimate for a "normal" year. The featured sugar bush has been in production for over 40 years. In 1998 a very bad 3 day freezing rain storm hit this bush, and many others in the area. A lot of trees had extensive damage but came back in a few years. As a result of the storm, and so much damage caused by downed limbs, all new collection lines and pipelines had to be installed.

Ken there are still a number of sugar bushes that still collect by bucket and sleigh. And still a good number of wood burning evaporators around as well. I have a friend (the person who is the beekeeper in the last AV) who has buckets on 12 of his maple trees around his house. He boils the sap down on his kitchen stove. Glad it brought back memories Jim

Eric: It is liquid sugar, but some research has a lot of good things to say about it read here

Following the Beekeeping AV recently posted on Beechbrook... Another re-working of a 35mm dual projector show from 13-14 years ago. Started out as a 14 minute AV and when digitized 9 years ago (at 800x600) three versions were produced: 14 min, 10 min and this 5 minute version. This is a 1440x1080 version with some updated images for changing technology. click here to download. Also available on You Tube here

Neat Lin !!!! I felt right at home with the snow. Glad you are keeping your hand in PTE
-
Lin: Retried it from your website and it came through this time (in splutters but it's here)

no go Tried copy-paste three times, and straight typing 3 times Guess I will have to give it a pass darn it
-
Thx Lin downloaded in about 7 seconds I copy and pasted the password, but it didn't accept it....

Hi Lin: I have tried three times to download the AV. Doesn't seem to want to cross the US/Canada border  It hangs up and just sits there after slowly downloading about half the file. Any thoughts? Thx Jim

Bill Hines is kindly hosting a "new" (14 minute) show of mine entitled Beekeeping. I say "new" as it is really one that I did 11-12 years ago as a 35mm two projector AV show. I converted it to digital in 2004 (?) as a 800x600 show. (That's all that projectors, computers and software could handle then) I have just re-worked it to 1440x1080. It is at: Here at Beechbrook It was also on YOU TUBE but I deleted it as they objected to the music being used without my having full permissions

Nice show !! Well executed. Scenes reminded me of here a few weeks ago, except we were still in late winter/early spring so we didn't have the trees in blossom !
-
Thank you for hosting Bill !! I also love the down in the dirt ones looking up too. Not always easy to do those, but the right angled viewfinder helps, maybe my next camera will have a rotating LCD viewer on the back like my point and shoot does.
-
Thanks Colin. I envy you having this "garden" so close to you. We tried growing them from seed here, but they didn't take. I found a nursery that will have them as annuals this year so I hope to plant a few in the front yard.
-
You know Ken, surprisingly I don't recall smelling the flowers ! They were nice to photograph - they close up each night and don't open until 9 or 10am, so you get to sleep in.

Bill Hines is kindly hosting "African Flowers" for me at Beechbrook Just under 6 minutes, 48mb Any and all comments welcome (preferably constructive :) )
