  1. Welcome to the world of PTE A-Vs and the user forum Padav, you will find lots of friendly help and advice here. I agree with your third point and this has been discussed in threads on this forum in the past, see: http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6806 as an example. Igor has indicated he will be adding the ability to fade in/out, crop, blend and do other editing on sound files in the upcoming versions 5.01 or 5.02 of PTE. Many of us are eagerly awaiting this welcome addition to an already great product. In the meantime the use of an external sound editor is the next best way to achieve this and as already said Audacity is a very compact, free tool for this.
  2. Ken I totally agree with you on this one, we shouldn't have to open files in other software to read a list which is only partly readable in PTE. This would be a fairly simple fix to enlarge the number of characters in the field then the slider would allow the reading of the right end of the file name/s I believe.
  3. This is how I've produced several DVDs in a row of the same show in Nero, and it works fine for me.
  4. I to like this idea a lot. Go for it Igor.
  5. I agree with Ray, I have had nothing but problems with Pinnacle 9 & 10 in many areas including CTDTs and have removed them from all my PCs never to be reloaded. Vegas Movie Studio Platinum has been much more reliable and it would be the one I would recommend.
  6. Well done Mike. You have developed Dom's template nicely, very impressive. I also would appreciate the template when ready, thanks in advance.
  7. Welcome to the world of PTE A-Vs and the user forum Phil, you will find lots of friendly help and advice here. 8. Thanks Igor.
  9. Peter, sorry for not replying sooner, my server had crashed last night and I have been locked off the NET until this morning. It's a jolt when you lose it and to realise how much we depend on it these days. Re your problem: I had the order incorrect and saw the blank screen at the start and thought, (incorrectly), that it was the startup of PTE. Yes I see your problem when I put the images in the order you requested. I went through the process of making a png file from a grayscale image in CS3, then loading into PTE and all worked fine. Don't have Elements 5 so I can't test it but as stated above it could be the answer. I have never seen this problem before and have worked with png files in Elements 3-4, PS7 through to CS3, although I have always scanned in the maximum colour depth to keep image quality at the highest, then converted to grayscale after all image manipulation was completed just before the final conversion to png.
  10. As a general rule it is better to do all your scans, (B/W original or not), for work in Photoshop as full colour scans no-matter what the end result will be. This will ensure that you get the maximum amount of data to work with in Photoshop and give a better end result. It is better to discard some information latter than not have enough at the start. EDIT 8:30AM All the test images I downloaded worked in my PTE v5 fine. Just loaded and ran with all defaults set.
  11. With more testing Dave it appears that the patten is as follows: If I set the Time interval for New Slide to 0 and preview the show I get the same problem you do. However if I set this value to a high value, (say 2000 S), and then preview the show it works as expected with this timing. Now I then set the Time interval for New Slide back to 0 this appears to work as expected. However what has happened is the previous long setting, (before setting the value to 0), is remembered by Time interval for New Slide and in affect the 0 setting is not working to give infinite timing on the slide. I also believe that this function existed in PTE v4.48 but is not working correctly now.
  12. Dave I just tried setting the Time interval for New Slides to 0 as you did and it also worked fine for me. What other settings are you using? Are you using any music?
  13. Select Project Options and then on the advanced tab left mouse button field use previous slide and on the right mouse field use next slide. In Project Options Main tab set the time interval for new slide to a high value, (say 2000 Sec), leave all the other settings here at the default settings. This should work fine. Also you should be able to setup a fully manually controlled show by using the menu bar.
  14. PS If you haven't already done so Michel you can download the PTE User Guide from here: http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7202 It is well worth it!!
  15. Welcome to the world of PTE A-Vs and the user forum Michel, you will find lots of help and advice here. If you are looking for how to automatically add the Exif.Description field go to Project Options then select the Comments tab. At the bottom of this tab there is a area to Set Text Comments for New Slides, here left click on the document icon on the right of the comments field. This will bring up a pick list of options from which you can select JPEG EXIF Description. Click on Set for Existing Slides if you wish to add it to the slides already in the show. It you wish you can then move the fields position, resize it, change colour, change font etc in the O&A screen.
  16. As always up to your high standard Paul. The moving clouds was used here to great effect, some images in other shows where I have seen this used were not as appropriate as here. Could you use the moving water effect on the foreground in the lake scenes? I have seen this somewhere as an effect on this forum, not sure who did it though. Good choice of music and lovely images, thanks Paul.
  17. WOW! I have been following your work on the many trips you have made over sometime now and I must say this is the one I have enjoyed the most. These images being scanned from old 3x5s makes it even more amazing. This show is a wonderful example of how the right music intelligently used with the images can have a large impact and of cause your "message" is so well conveyed with the finale. Many of us who have lost those close to us that we have travelled with, as I have, will be/are moved by this show. There is much more I would like to say but I must go as I want to watch your show again, thanks very much Jeff for sharing.
  18. I'll definitely second that.
  19. Thanks colin, got it now.
  20. Download link please Paul.
  21. Welcome to the world of PTE A-Vs and the user forum Bob, you will find lots of help and advice here. This thread my be better posted in the general "PicturesToExe" area where I'm sure you will get more replies. "Tutorials and Articles" here.
  22. Good news Igor. We all make mistakes, none of us are perfect, best we can do is fix them when we find them as you have done, thanks, much appreciated.
  23. Welcome to the world of PTE A-Vs and the user forum Lorie, you will find lots of help and advice here. The advice posted above by Lin is sound and covers everything you need to get your show up on YouTube.
  24. Forgot to mention this in my post above Neil, I had the same problem.
  25. Neil I'm glad I had another go at downloading and got to see your show, very creative and enjoyable. Some interesting images and inventive use of techniques in PTE. In fact this is a great demo show for PTE. Nice choice of bright music helps also, well done and thanks for sharing. I like your cat, I assume it's yours.
