Hi Gary, You can't set the "aspect ratio" to 1920x1080 that's a pixel dimension. You set the aspect ratio to 16:9 which is the aspect ratio of either 1280x720 pixels or 1920x1080 pixels. Best regards, Lin

Maybe because the program wants to know which 16:9 size you would like to display at: 16:9 isn't a "size" it's a ratio... Lin

Hi Wal, I'll try to answer your questions below: Best regards, Lin

I don't think there is any "good" reason to post more than the size of the download, but if it's a very "large" show and you care whether everyone who wants to see it will do so, it might be a good idea to offer it in video format with a link as well as perhaps in PC or Mac executable format. With video, the viewer still ends up downloading the large show, but generally not having to "wait" until the download has finished for the show to begin. Some here seem to only want to watch shows in wide format, etc., and that's a personal choice but really not something which the show's producer needs to be concerned with, in my opinion. I put the approximate size of the show after the link myself, but rarely bother with details about the format (wide or 4:3, 3:2, etc.) because regardless of the equipment the viewer has they will be able to see it. As far as the type of camera, lens, focal length, etc., - if one feels it necessary to give that information fine, but in the final analysis most could care less about these details. Opinions different from the prevailing ones are always welcome in my opinion. We may not all agree, and we may sometimes get into rather heated discussions about these differences but that doesn't mean that differences of opinion are bad or that one's having a different opinion are not equally welcome to express them. Unless the poster is asking specifically for comments or criticism on how to improve the presentation, it's probably best to say something nice or say nothing at all. Just my opinion and $.02 Lin

Turns out that my domain name expired with me being contacted so I put a direct link to my ISP"s server which will work. The domain name will be back on line in a couple hours. Best regards, Lin Hi Ken, Apparently the server is down for unknown reasons - my ISP is working on it, hopefully it will be resolved soon.... Best regards, Lin

PanosFX Free Action and Available Template for PTE
Lin Evans replied to Lin Evans's topic in Slideshows & AV Shows
Hi Robert, Here is the link to the little template and instructions: http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?/topic/14457-panosfx-snowbulb-template-only/ Best regards, Lin -
Slightly different from my other "snowbulb" template as it doesn't deal with snow build-up but just "snowing" inside the bulb and replacement of my "goosebulb" png with your own PNG transparency or a jpg, bmp, animated gif, etc. First download the zip file and extract into a folder. Then just open the PTE file in PicturesToExe, go to the Objects and Animations screen and click on the very bottom object (Goosebulb.png). Click on the Properties tab and then on the open file icon at the top right next to "picture." Navigate to your own transparent PNG or a jpg, bmp or animated gif you wish to have inside the bulb with snow coming down. Double click your selection then use the surrounding "handles" to size and position via the mouse inside the bulb. If you are putting in a jpg or bmp, you will probably want to enlarge it to fit the full available dimensions which will be everything "except" the snow at the bottom of the bulb. That's all there is to it. Save under a new name, export as an exe or mp4, etc. The snow animation will run for 60 seconds. If you wish you can copy and paste your slide as many times as necessary for your animation and background music. s104715615.onlinehome.us/sample/panosbulbanimatedtemplate.zip Best regards, Lin

Hi Robert, LOL - Thanks!! I'm having fun playing with non-serious things. This gives me a break from discussing Coyotes with Craig on Facebook. Craig is an old college friend whom I stayed with for six weeks on my 8000 mile trip in 2010. He's a "dyed in the wool" Vermont boy who is newly "semi-retired) with finally some time on his hands. We share a passion for Malamutes (I used to raise, train and race sled teams) and we can spend hours in friendly arguments about dogs, wolves, coyotes and politics - LOL. I'm trying to get him interested in PTE and I think when he finally completely retires (military) he will join us here on the forum. Best regards, Lin

Hi Greg, Thanks! Fractals can be addictive - I'm usually pretty sleepy by the time I play with them for a few hours!! LOL Best regards, Lin

Hi Dom, Looks great with the rising sun behind! It can be problematic to loop, so I usually make the start of the cube at zero, zero degrees and stay with even increments of 360 degrees for a given time frame. That way it's usually possible to copy and paste the slide with linear motion and no transition, so the next slide begins uninterrupted from the identical position of the end of the first or previous slide. Best regards, Lin

Hey Colin, Thanks! It was that "bunny/chicken" thing that got me into dreamland - LOL Best regards, Lin

Hi Dom, Too much coffee yesterday, I guess - LOL Here's the zip: http://www.lin-evans.org/rose/therosepte.zip Best regards, Lin

Couldn't sleep tonight so..... http://www.lin-evans...ose/therose.zip (5 meg Win PC) http://www.lin-evans.../therosemac.zip (5 meg MacIntosh) Just a side note - the atom is one of Magnesium with a dozen planetary electrons which is vital to Rose health. The background is a fractal representing the fractal nature of our universe and the transparent cube represents the invisibility of nature's delivery system which furnishes the Rose with life sustaining magnesium via the frenzy of atomic energy. And if you buy all this, you're as wacky and sleep deprived as I was when I made my notes on it! LOL Lin

PanosFX Free Action and Available Template for PTE
Lin Evans posted a topic in Slideshows & AV Shows
Just a little sample using one of the great PanosFX free Photoshop or Elements actions to help create. The PanosFX action creates either of two "lightbulbs" and allows the user to place their own image inside. I took the "snow lightbulb" results and created a template which the user can, within seconds, put their own image inside and animate with snowfall or not using PTE. Essentially the template provides a "sandwitch" of layers between which your own image and the snowfall reside. Simply replace my image with either a PNG with transparency or a full scenic and size it to fill the existing space. If you want snowfall, then leave things as they are and it will automate and run for sixty seconds. Use a two second fade and copy and paste the slide as many times as you want it to run in one minute intervals. Just go to the Objects and Animations screen, Properties tab and click on my image then on the open file icon at the top right of the screen to navigate to your own PNG, bmp, gif, animated gif or jpg and replace mine with yours. Size and place visually to fill the lightbulb space as desired. Here's the sample which uses four "copies" of the original and one additional slide. Note that the velocity of snow changes with the last slide because the display time is half that of the one minute default. Of course it's possible to change that by adjusting the distance the PNG snowfall files travel in the different display time, but I didn't bother. http://www.lin-evans.org/sample/bulbanimationdemo.zip (15 meg zipped exe) Anyone interested, just post and let me know and I will upload the template... Best regards, Lin -
Hi Daniel, Thanks! It sometimes is a little difficult to get close enough but I've been photographing them since 1958 so I've learned by trial and error the best ways to get close without being spotted - LOL. Sometimes I get caught and they scamper away, but over the years I've probably photographed over a thousand coyotes doing everything from running down rabbits to snacking on voles and ground squirrels. They are very efficient hunters and will eat almost anything from rodents to young and old and sick deer - stray cats, small dogs and your chickens and turkeys if you let them. Fortunately, I've always had pit dogs which ran them off my ranch so we never lost any livestock of any kind. Here's a picture of Buster, one of my dogs who made his living in early days chasing coyotes - LOL... By the way, I've added about 20 images and put a link to the web video - the exe is too big to download...... it's on the original post at the bottom under the other two links... Best regards, Lin

DVD Slideshow created on Mac won't playback on TV

Don't you see the problem with your logic? If a "Mac" booted in Windows is a Windows machine like any other, except for the logo on the case, then a Windows machine booted into OSx is a Mac like any other, except the logo on the case also - LOL. A=A... Best regards, Lin -

So, If I format my hard disk with OSx then my PC "is" a MacIntosh? Why spend the additional money for the Mac then!! Lin -
Multiple slides selected, O&A button clicked
Lin Evans replied to aplman's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
Some good suggestions Ken, but the one about setting PZR to smooth would not work - in fact, it would cause major logic problem because this requires individual settings (glue, separate) on multiple keyframes and why would one expect to have identical keyframe positions on multiple slides? To make this work, the default would have to be smooth rather than linear, (any changes to keyframe positions require linear as a default). The entire flexibility of being able to have choices about where smooth, linear, accelerate, etc., are applied would require a major paradigm shift and re-write of large areas of code. I think this idea to implement would pretty much cripple the flexibility we have now and is probably why things are as they are from a programming perspective. The thing which "could" be improved is automatic separation of keyframes when smooth is chosen rather than having to do it individually, but then even this would cause issues with flexibility unless we had the "choice" of giving up the flexibility or not. So what happens when you click on the waveform button? Best regards, Lin

DVD Slideshow created on Mac won't playback on TV
Lin Evans replied to Photofanatic's topic in General Discussion
They are virtualization applications and I think the majority of users know these as emulators. I think to argue semantics serves no useful purpose in this case. As long as everyone understands that Bootcamp and Fusion allow an Intel-based MacIntosh to run Windows operating systems, that's sufficient for good communication. Even though the operating system is running in a virtualization mode, it doesn't necessarily mean that MacIntosh "hardware" will always work in the same way as Windows hardware works. Drivers and other factors may still cause issues with peripherals, and I believe that's what Brian is getting at. Best regards, Lin -
Thanks Charlie, Coyotes are fun to watch and photograph - it's always a challenge. Best regards, Lin
