  1. Sorry Igor, your latest post escaped my notice. I cannot force the error situation to occur. It happened to me a few times, but no more times recently. My only suspicion is that I had some other program open that was greedy about memory, possiblr Excel. Nowadays, I try to let nothing interfere with my PTE work. Grateful thanks Ken T.
  2. Dear Igor Preferences Window is not a good place for that function. I have needed that function more than once, and each time I had to spend too much time, and endure too much stress, looking around for it. I would not presume to tell you where it should be implemented. I trust your experienced professional judgement and product knowledge. I simply beg you - PLEASE find the right place for it! Thank you Ken Travers.
  3. The important process Clear cache of waveforms is buried in an inapproprioriate part of the PTE system. Settings/Preferences/Timeline is not where intuition leads us! Dear Igor and team, please find the right home for that function. And Restart PTE to apply changes is not enough of a hint for the next step. The PTE file has to be loaded again.
  4. Thanks Dave. I reckon you can do better than that! In my experience, combined with some guesswork, I fear other experts are less likely to respond if they see there is already an answer. May I invite others to comment?
  5. The following sequence of actions has puzzled me. I open a PTE file using PTEAV version 11. I click on Project Options. I click on the Control tab, or other tabs, to visually check the settings, but I do not change anything. I try to close the file. Project file has been changed. Do you want to save it? I don’t want to save it, because I have not changed anything, and saving will affect the file time-stamp. I rely on file timestamps to help me stay organized. Seems to me there is a flaw in PTE somewhere. Expert advice please?
  6. Thanks to those who have tried to help me. I fear I have been too economical with my words as I have been labouring under several difficulties and trying to keep my posts brief. My shows are presented using EXE files. I start from a top-level exe file, which offers my audience a choice of tours, e.g. Peru 2010, Iceland 2014, South America 2015, and so on. As the presenter, I click on the requested option. This takes us deeper into more menu slides as more detailed opportunities are offered. This can provide for short, medium or long shows. Choices are made by clicking on buttons, images, or text items. Each click activates an EXE file. Each EXE file has a corresponding PTE file. Each EXE file is in the same folder as its PTE file. The can be some overlap between shows - for example, I might choose a sequence from Peru 1997 to use in South America 2015, but with variations in captions, music, or animations. Obviously different PTE files are needed. The Folder Name and Folder Path items insertable in O&A refer (I believe) to the folder containing the main image of a slide, not the folder containing the PTE or EXE file. Hence my suggestion. I hope Igor sees this, and feels sympathetic.
  7. While debugging a new show, or refining enhancements to an old show, I appreciate the ability to show on screen the Slide Index of the current slide. The value of the Slide Index would be even greater if I could also show the name of the current PTE file. Sometimes I use a slide in several different PTE files, and the Slide Index can be different in each case. Members who love PTE for its versatility with EXE files should support this suggestion. Thank you all, and Thank You Igor.
  8. Hello Igor and All, I am very surprised and disappointed that DG's comment has not provoked further discussion. Since their introduction, I have regarded Slide Styles as a flawed feature, so I do not expect it to offer any solutions. Some time ago, I suggested that Object Styles would be better, but now I cannot recover my line of reasoning. Havs there been some later enhancement that has escaped my notice? Or should I re-examine the notion of Templates ... where I may have failed to grasp their true beauty? Thanks and Best Wishes ...Ken T.
  9. A releted question - what can we do in Show B to indicate to Show A (after returning) that a different course of action is needed? Ken T.
  10. Thanks Dave. I do appreciate your help. I fear I had not expressed my concern well, as I am labouring under difficulties at the moment. I really had two (or more) questions and should have put them up separately. So now I would like to ask a single question - what is the recommended way of showing in Show A that the button for Show B has already been activated? If I use the Clicked font colour, does it remain in that state after Returning from Show B? Ken T.
  11. Thanks to you all. No problem controllingfont etc for new slides, but I am wanting to add comments to large numbers of existing slides. Apols for not making that clear. So I remain mystified. Ken T.
  12. In Project Options-Advanced, there are three possibilities offered for ActionOnExit: Do not run / Run Application / Run Slideshow I am often finding that the "action" I need is "Return", i.e. return to the slide that called the current project, often from a button via "Call Slideshow with Return". Would Igor like to provide this? Or am I missing something?
  13. Not quite. I need to apply to all selected slides. I believe O&A only deals with one slide at a time - or am I missing something? Thanks DG. KT
  14. I cannot find in the documentation detailsof how to set the position, colour, size etc of the slide comment. Any help please? Ken T. Using version 11.0.9 on Windows 10.
  15. A very thoroughly expressed post. I hope it draws the outcome you need. I shall be interested to read more. Ken T.
