  1. Hi folks, The UK web hosting company, Weycrest collapsed, leaving 1,000's of users without a website. I was just one of the many who suddenly found their sites had disappeared. Getting the domains transferred to a new host was a difficult process as Weycrest could not be contacted to transfer the ISP tag. The .co.uk domains were the easiest to sort out, but the .com and .net was a torturous affair. Long story short, I had almost 40 AV's hosted by Weycrest, and almost all I have posted links to on this forum. I have selected the ones that got the most hits (18) and have placed new links here. I hope this is OK.
  2. Thanks for the feedback, I am still having problems getting my sites back online, which is why I have been using mediafire.
  3. I am now back on line, thanks to Vidahost.
  4. What a nightmare! It has taken a few days but I am now back on-line. I would regard myself as fairly up to date and web savvy ;-) But if your hosting company goes bust and therefore they cannot change the ISP tag, it is a struggle! I have had to seriously reduce the number of av's on offer. I have just included my latest stuff.
  5. Hi folks, I know this is off topic, but I thought you might be interested. I just wanted to let you know that all my links to PTE Av's on this forum are down. My hosting co has gone bust, and as I 'had' my own web space, all my links on Beechbrook are therefore also down. What happens when your hosting com goes bust? Well it is a nightmare. You cannot contact the provider to get them to change the "tag" because they are bust. So you have to go and get a new hosting company and then re-register and transfer the domain names. It is a very long and involved process. I am only half way there, but I have learned a lot about it on my way. If you are interested I will let you know how I get on. [mods, please feel free to move this topic, if need be.]
  6. Thank you all for your feedback. As a 'well meaning amateur' I have found that mono work can often bring out textures and depth. BTW, all my web sites are down, following the collapse of the UK hosting provider 'Weycrest'. I am actively seeking out new hosts.
  7. My daughter asked me to give her some examples of my black and white photography. No ratio blending, just some of my fav monos. here http://www.mediafire.com/?gzodwomnkb5
  8. Sadly, Julie has been back to ICU, following yet another stroke.
  9. There is one image/photo that struck me. A young boy in bare foot, and his poor feet appeared to be badly damaged, yet he seemed content with his lot. Davy this is a good historical record.
  10. Thanks Davy, I have seen the falling man, awful stuff really. I will play again with my version to sync.
  11. Hi Maureen, I ventured out to the Camera Club and showed your AV. Feedback has been sent by message. I happy to post it here, but only with your permission.
  12. Hi Davy, I had a look at your version and I agree that syncing the music beats to the images is very impactive.
  13. Download link Maureen, wonderful work. I found this AV peaceful, serene and relaxing.
  14. Thanks Dom, I will have another go.
  15. Davy, I will look at your suggestions. This is yet another example of my back to front or wrong way round approach. I heard the music in Kiss Ass and liked it but knew I had heard it before somewhere. Once I found it and listened to the slower version I knew I had to revisit my 9/11 project. What I am trying to get is the building of the emotional intensity using the images and music. BTW I have 8000 public domain images of 9/11, if you are interested. I am not sure if you recall but the very first one I did had (suitably) 911 images which I played very very fast to the wonderful Chemical Brothers track called 'Saturation' - another building in intensity music track. I liked it but was completely alone, Bennett told me it made him feel sick and he closed his eyes. Others told me the music was simply awful and most inappropriate. Many recommended Barber's Adagio for strings. I kept the music, because I liked it, removed many photos and then went for a portrait approach, but before I could finish it some rascal stole my laptop and the setup files, I was still using ProShow in those early days. It is here if anyone is interested. It was never finished and I always regretted not being able to complete it. And so to this new version. As I have 'only' used 200 images I have been able to place some order to the events using PTE's superb whiteboard or light box to shuffle the photos around. Bob, I am sure there must be a way of working out just how long the music should be so that the images synce to the beat. beyond me, but not beyond DavyC ;-) who I am sure will help.
  16. I am from Northern Ireland, so I know all about terrorist attacks and the emotive impact it has. I also visited NY just after 9/11 and was made most welcome, indeed everyone I met went out of their way to help us out. As a parent who has lost a child, I know that the 9/11 terrorist attack must have resulted in many parents suffering the same. And I suppose that is one reasons I have made this AV. It is still in first draft, and the first and last black pages needs text to set things in context. But At this time I don't really know what i want to say.
  17. It is supposed to be fast. Just a glimpse, 200 photos, wham bang. This was my intention, but if you think it is too quick, please let me know. I speeded up the soundtrack to make it all go quicker. BTW, did anyone recognise the music? I speeded up the version from "28 Days Later", it is also used in "Kiss Ass" which is a much speeded up version!
  18. The September 11 attacks (often referred to as September 11th or 9/11) were a series of coordinated suicide attacks by al-Qaeda upon the United States on September 11, 2001. The death toll of the attacks was 2,995, including the 19 hijackers. The overwhelming majority of casualties were civilians, including nationals of over 70 countries. This short AV includes 200 photos of this awful event, and is work in progress. All feedback is most welcome. PC exe download here
  19. Hi Davy, I have thinking about a compact myself. I like the look of Sony DSCHX5VB. But many of the new compacts come with a APS-C sensor.
  20. Maleva: Whoever is bitten by a werewolf and lives becomes a werewolf himself. Larry Talbot: Ah, don't hand me that. You're just wasting your time. Maleva: The wolf bit you, didn't he? Larry Talbot: Yeah. Yeah he did!
  21. very interesting, thank you.
  22. I recently meet the young man I had saved from killing himself with drink and drugs. (That I allude to in my poem above.) It was an accidental meeting, I met his father and he suddenly said "of course you know Marc", indicating his son beside him. We stood in silence for a while, it felt like minutes, then he came across and gave me a hug. He couldn't say anything and walked away in a hurry. But the hug said it all! His dad then said, 'that's a first! He never hugs anyone!" Some good news to a sad story.
