  1. Watched it again, this is one of my favourites ;-)
  2. Ken, this was my 1st draft and I let my wife have a look, to see if it was suitable. After only a few moments she burst into tears, of joy and emotion, and I had to run it (for her) again and again. I thought it might need some work as rarely is any 1st draft perfect. But on this occasion, it seems it was! I was able to use a number of images that were not taken at the christening, but ones I had taken when I was giving the St Mark's website an update. Thanks for the feedback ;-)
  3. Off topic, re IPad3 and 4. I have an iPad 3 and the display is superb. The new version has a faster processor, but I do not have any problems with speed on the '3'.
  4. Lin, simply sublime... I watched it twice and I must admit that I rarely do that ;-) Bryce is my favourite, it takes my breathe away both literally and metaphorically (at 10,000 feet a half hour walk down means more than a one hour walk back up!) If I may offer some feedback on the photography, there is one image of the structures in Monument Valley that has really blue shadows, instead of black. Otherwise, everything was perfect to my eye ;-) Great show and I will be showing this Av to the folk at my camera club. Wonderful work, well done!
  5. My granddaughter Sophie's Christening. The show is in full hd format, 16:9, and is best viewed on a monitor that can handle 1920x1080 pixels. However it will still run on almost all computers. While the intended audience is my daughter and all those that attended the christening at St Mark's, Church of Ireland, Belfast, Northern Ireland - I thought some of you might like to see it. I have a windows version and a mac version. Windows: http://www.markallenphotography.co.uk/Sophie.exe Mac: http://www.markallenphotography.co.uk/Sophie.zip
  6. Wonderful work, well done!
  7. Igor, TWO STEPS: 1. Tell AVG that unless they immediately sort out the problem; you will be recommending (via this forum and the install program) that all PTE users abandon AVG and go for the much better and cheaper (i.e. FREE) MS Security Essentials. (Wait for a response) Then build on this and tell them you are going to ask all PTE members (via this forum and the install program) to tell all their friends, fellow PTE users, folk who receive pte exes and so on to abandon AVG as it reports false virus/trogan reports. 2. Once they (AVG) have sorted out the problem, as I am sure they will, tell them they have created a serious 'reliability / confidence' problem with all PTE users AND with the PTE audience worldwide using AVG. As a result all PTE users should be offered a years free account. In return; you may consider offering them (AVG) a link during the install program. I offer this, not expecting or wanting a AVG freebie. I use a mac, and have win7 )on the mac with VM ware only for PTE!
  8. Ken, from reading through this 5 page post I see that you have received a number of negative responses. (Just uninstall AVG, get ESET NOD, etc!) May I, as a regular member of this forum, thank you for bringing this to attention of the PTE community, well done! The most important aspect for me; is not AVG working on my system, (as I don't use it) but AVG working on the PC's of those kind folk who take the time to download my AV's! This has not happened to me; but I would be most upset if I sent a link to someone, who then tried to download it, only to discover that AVG detected a virus. It's all about respect, credibility and reputation. When I post an 'exe' via Mediafire, I always tell folk that I have checked for virus/malware etc, before uploading. (I think Mediafire also does a check, but am not completely sure of this.) But I always tell them to make sure to run an antivirus prog, just in case the file has been tampered with as it flies across the "Interweb". To date, as I have said, I have not had a problem. But I think it is right and proper for you to highlight this issue, not only to fellow PTE users but also to Igor. So, again well done and thank you.
  9. Hi Lin, I forgot to give specs: iMac, 12GB RAM, i7, 2560x1440
  10. Hi Lin, there is a small red line, about 1 or 2 pixels, on the left side of the av. While the av is playing I see a white pixel or two moving up and down this line. Otherwise, on my mac it works well.
  11. Hi Paul, thank you for the feedback. The last photo was taken with a Sony Nex 5. An almost 180 degree pano, taken from a moving ship!
  12. Thanks for the feedback. I will certainly have a look at your suggestion Lin, many thanks for the advice.
  13. Hi guys, this is my final version* of my Slideshow "Canada and Alaska 2011". As a result of most helpful feedback I have tweaked it: 1. Photos re organised for a better photo harmony flow. 2. New title slide 3. The music beats sync to the 3 sec fades, as best as I can manage ;-) There are two main beats to the music, a low 'dom' and a high 'pink'. Syncing the beats to the start of the slide did not work, because of the 3 second fade. 4. All photos were taken with a Nikon D300, 18-200VR lens, except for the last one, which was taken with a Sony NEX-5. I have re worked this last image and made it large enough in file size to handle the long pano scroll. (5230x1200) 5. Silence at the end. I wasn't sure about this approach, but the members of my camera club assure me that it works well and really captures attention. Please let me know what you think of this. * As always, I welcome your feedback. I hope this is my final version, but 'Never say Never' and all that! PC exe Mac zip
  14. Wonderful work, well done!
  15. Thank you all for your feedback, here on the forum and also by email. As a result I have made a number of changes and updated the links above. For me this is what this forum is all about. Getting feedback from folk from all over the world, simply brilliant! Thank you! Ken, I have gone back to my original music. You were quite right, the music on the last version did not work as well as I expected. Thank you for your feedback. Barry, downloads are now all zips. I have moved to MAC, but have win7 installed just for PTE! Mike, I reduced the zooms from 103% to 102%. But, I did not remove it completely as I like this effect. I did move the eagle from the end, to the start, and made it a intro title. Thanks for the prompt to make me look where this image should be best placed. I also removed the Pooh Bear photo (of a the bear having a poo, I thought it was a laugh!) and a couple of other images to make the pano last longer. I also brought back the whole pano at the very end. I am happy with this version, but as always, I am more than open to suggestions...
  16. Thank you all for the feedback. Ken, I must agree with you, I had "spiegel im spiegel" originally, but changed it as I accidentally left this mp3 file on the camera club computer and, as a result everyone used it for AV demos and I was sick hearing it again and again ;-) Barry, thought most unzip programs opened rar files, my mistake. I'll use zip in future, just for you ;-) Mick, thanks you for taking the time to provide detailed feedback, much appreciated. I see what you mean about the eagle, perhaps it could be used an intro slide. Back to the drawing board for me!
  17. Hi folks, I have re worked my last AV 'Canada and Alaska 2011". This version is 16:10, my intended composition works better in this ratio. (16:9 tended to cut some of my intended lines from corners, etc.) Images have been reduced in file size, so it is now a mere 14MB I was disappointed in the the last slide of the previous version, it was a panorama that was reduced to a mere letterbox. So I have moved it to the beginning and made a scrolling pano instead, with the title at the end (to cover the bright areas). As always, all feedback is most welcome. [links updated as a result of feedback, outlined below] Mac Version Win version
  18. Hi folks, I could not get Paraells 6 to work, but got VMware Fusion to work with PTE with just a few tweaks. If you have a iMac may I suggest: 1. It comes with 4GB RAM, don't do a store upgrade for extra memory. Go to crucial.com and get an extra 8GB for £50/$60. It is very easy to install and you end up with 12GB 2. Install VMware Fusion 3. You will need your original Win7 CD. 3. Once up and running Win7 will do its updates, mine found 89, and later updated to Win7 service pack 1, and so on... 4. The VMware version of Win7 is held in a virtual machine, but if minimised it will still update while you or at work on the iMac. 5. Install PTE to Win7, but you will find that when you try to run it, you will get an error message asking for Direct X. 6. Go back to VMware and install 'VMtools' 7. PTE will now work! (I can only assume the same approach will work for macpro laptop.) I now have the best of both worlds. Win7 comes up, as a result of it being held in virtual machine, in just seconds. VMware allows for folders to be shared, so I can add my pictures/images/rawfile folders to be seen and edited in either win7 or on the iMac. Be aware that while you may not need an Internet Security Suite on the iMac it is still a good idea. Many such suites are free. But if you have a virtual Win7 approach on your mac then a windows security suite is strongly recommended. While I am clearly new to all this mac lion/win7 get together; if I can help, I will. I do not want this thread to become a Win7_V_Mac debate. I am merely offering this info for folk who have jumped ship and are looking to run PTE on a mac. All feedback is most welcome!
  19. Hi folks, I just wanted to let you know that one of the many reasons I have not gone for a 'mac', over the years, was this wonderful program PTE. But as a result of an extensive burglary I decided that I had enough with Win7 and bought a iMac. I was happy to use my win7 laptop for PTE, coping files back across usb drives. But I found a much, much better solution. 3. 20. In the past I have only occasionally offered mac versions of my work. Now that i have a mac, i will be offering more!
  21. HI Mary, yes it is a wonderful part of the world and the bears are tough to get. Glad you enjoyed the show.
  22. just changed from pc to mac still working it out!
  23. Thanks Andrew, I am glad you enjoyed it.
  24. V7 b12 I worked on around 40 slides and then went to add a blank slide at the start and end. I set the slide time to 2 secs with a 1 sec fade. When i previewed it, I got an error message saying there was an error in C:Worlds\PTE... After that everything was wrecked. I could no longer open the first slide to edit the settings. When I created an exe, it failed to run. So I gave up.
  25. Mick, Spirit Island is surrounded by a frozen lake at the time I visited. So no boat trips. Mick, Maureen, it seems that the slow fades and subtle pans and zooms can still told the attention. Jan, this was not in my back yard, I'm from Belfast, Northern Ireland. I have been to Canada before, but never Alaska. I hope to return to both, God willing. BTW the whale just appeared, we were not on a whale watching tour, it was a trip up the Tracy Arm Fjord to see the Sawyer Glaciers. On the way back to Skagway this whale seemed intent on putting on a performance, with tail splashes, fin slaps and of course breaching. The guide gave detailed reasons as to why the scientists think they do these manoeuvres, but finished with, "but I think they are just having fun". It certainly looked like it to me ;-) Thank you all for your feedback.
