  1. Hi Igor,

I would definately like option 2 - display keyframes of several objects on separate tracks.

With the option to show/hide objects/tracks if possible

Also to be able to expand the timeline as we can on the main timeline to see smaller time intervals.

To be able to see the waveform of at least one sound file (user choice which one)

To be able to select a group of keyframes (for one or more objects) & move them along the timeline as a block as we can with images.

  2. Jacek,

You can only enter the Competitions if you live in the UK or Ireland or are an overseas member of a UK or Ireland Club.

Anyone can attend the Great Northern Festival weekend to watch the competitions.

The New Horizons Competition is further restricted to only those workers who have NOT received an award in a National or International competition. This is to encourage newcomers & those less experienced.

  3. I do not use colour profiles. I see no difference between the pairs of images. This, to me, is good. It means nothing is being added that I do not want adding.

    regards,

    Peter

I also do not use colour profiles. But my cameras are set to take jpgs in sRGB & I export from Photoshop in sRGB.

All my own images look exactly the same in your test.

I very rarely have any problems when giving my shows on various different club projectors. Although occasionally a club may have set up their projector to be over saturated so the colours look wrong.

But looking at some images I have from other people they do look different. Some look better with NO colour management, while others look better with it. I have no idea what the profiles if any, of these images are.

If you implement this feature, I think it is essential that the user has the option to be able to switch it on or off, by Project, but also with an option to switch on or off by image.

  4. Just to throw a spanner in the works & put forward a completely different view.

What we really need is the ability to select specific keyframes on specific objects & scale them.

Quite often I will have animation on some objects that I would need to scale, but other objects or keyframes that I do not want to be scaled.

I almost always require the 4 fixed (+) keyframes to remain at their respect points whenever I change duration and/or transition times.

The keyframes in betwwen these fixed points I may or may not need to scale.

Therefore if we could select specific keyframes (as we can slides) would hopefully cater for all situations & needs.

  5. Jill,

Fixed keyframes work well only if you have 1-4 keyframes linked (+) with beginning/end of transitions.

If you have additional fixed keyframes, you can't correctly change slide duration, because fixed keyframes will not be scaled and they will conflict with linked keyframes which changed their positions. Their order will be mixed.

Style with fixed keyframes will work incorrectly.

By Fixed KF I mean the 4 + KF

Any other KF I would expect to remain in place or be scaled if I select to scale them.

But the 4 + points must work as they have always done & move with the Transition & end of Slide points.

    Jill

  6. Igor,

    Fixed KF are essential

We need to know that we can change the duration of a slide (Pure Duration) and or the Transition time & those KF at the end of Transition of end of slide will remain at that place.

Working in the Timeline view, we fine tune times to suit the soundtrack, usually after any animation is done.

Most AV workers do not want animation occurring during the transition between slides.

Therefore any animation KF are placed between the Fixed points, we need the object to be stationary at the fixed points.

    Therefore they must remain PLEASE

  7. Hi Happy Cat,

Welcome to the Forum & the wonderful world of PTE.

Frames are used when you wish to group several Objects together so you can animate them all at once.

A Frame has zero Opacity so is not visible.

You can have several different objects each performing their own animation, but you may wish to move them all across the screen together. You would add a Frame above the individual Objects & then make them Children of that Frame. (Select all the Objects CTRL+Click, Right Click - Cut. Then select the Frame - Right Click - Paste)

You can then apply animation to the Frame & all the Children Objects will follow.

    Hope this helps.

  8. It would be really useful if when we insert new slides into the Slide List they were inserted before or after the current selected slide.

I am finding it more & more frustrating that I position the slide view at the point I want to add new slides with a slide selected. Then when I double click on a slide in the File List it is inserted at the end rather than the point I want it to be.

I know I can drag the slide from the File List which is easy for one slide or even a group of slides to be inserted at the same place.

But I often use CTRL+D to select & add the whole Folder. This normally occurs when using PTE to display single images at the Camera Club for competition or appraisal. Each person's images are in a separate Folder so it is easy to go through the list of Folders & CTRL+D to add all the images into the project.

If we could choose to add the images at a particular place this would be a great addition & speed up workflow.

  9. We go around Camera Clubs, AV Groups etc trying to encourage more people to use PTE.

Not just to make AV's or even Slides to Music, but to also show that PTE can be very useful to the single image worker who wants to give talks or simply show their single images in a better way.

The basic use of PTE in this way is extremely easy & we can demonstrate in 5 to 10 minutes how you can put a simple show together. Even to adding Titles & doing simple Pan or zoom animations.

I am not sure how much easier you could make the basics.

It is only when the user wants to move onto more complex animations that they sometimes struggle.

I agree that it is much easier to learn something new when you are shown, rather than being faced with new software & not having a clue where to start, especially for those not that computer literate. But the documentation is available for those who look.

Maybe we need a separate section on the forum for new users with some simple explanations of how to make basic shows.

This way they wouldn't have to wade through the numerous posts from more experienced users trying to find how to do the simple stuff.

  11. Getting back to the topic at the start of this thread, if it is possible to show the offending slides when a duplicate name is found, this would help.

Better still allow the duplicates to be replaced with the file from the correct folder at the point of creating the backup zip.

It is not only bad practice that can lead to this problem.

This situation can occur easily when collaborating on a sequence with someone else.

John & I made a joint sequence, each working on particular parts of a very complex animation which were then combined to form one slide. We each created a backup zip of the parts we had done. Because of this the images were coming from different folders but had the same name.

I have never managed to go through & sort out the objects from the different folders, so am unable to create a backup zip of the completed project. Ended up with a Template instead.

  12. Gary,

To stop the text from the other sides of the cube showing through, you need to UNTICK Show backside in the 3D parameters for the text on each face.

Ensuring that each image is the correct way up when that face is showing is slightly more tricky.

It depends on which way the cube is rotating and involves having to duplicate that image but rotated the correct way (3D parameters again).

You then need to switch On & Off (via Keyframes & Opacity) the correct orientation as each face comes round.

Trial & error & patience to get it right!!

  13. I think the best solution is to burn one file to a disk, in a format that everyone can play on their PC, and forget about everything else.

If you want the file to be played on a Windows PC the EXE is highest quality & easiest to make.

This can be sent to people electronically so saves having to burn & post discs.

No additional software is required to play the EXE

  14. Igor,

I have just been testing this out.

I like the fact that when you alter the volume in Project options it automatically alters the envelope line in the Timeline.

This gives a good visual aid to the overall level of the volume.

But I feel that whatever volume you set in Project Options it should remain at that level if you subsequently amend the keypoints. It is very misleading to come back to PO & see the volume at 100%

Also currently if you just add one keypoint in the Timeline to reduce the overall volume, this is NOT reflected in the PO value. Again this is misleading.

If it is at all possible to make the PO value & Envelope line move together this will be another big plus for PTE.

If it is not possible, then your suggested solution is better than what currently happens.

    Jill
