Version 3 Music is perfect - such an improvement! Chalk and cheese. Jitter much less. Still annoying - especially on the camels sequence. 'Black' transitions don't have noticable jitter anymore. What I don't understand is that there have been nearly 200 downloads and only half a dozen people have commented. Come on PTE enthusiasts, give the developers some feedback! Why does the demo run smooth as Castrol on some hardware and jitters on other? Jeff

What I meant was, use the vanilla 5.6 release that the normal public download, not a pre-release version. Jeff

No improvement to flicker problem with both new versions. If it helps TheDom, the worst flickering is between the main examples when the screen goes momentarily black. I will visit a friend this morning and report on what happens with totally different hardware, Jeff

Hope this helps find a 'pattern'. I have XP Professional SP3 Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 @ 2.53 GHz 2 GB RAM Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset Family Monitor LG Flatron L1950 SQ at 1280x960. Nothing except Firefox that I know of was running (i.e. no Photoshop, no PTE). I can't be sure but I think the sound is jittering too. Say if you want me to try another screen resolution? Jeff

Hello Dom, A great example of what can be done with PTE. I scored it down because of the 'jitter' in the transitions. My PC runs my own PTEs without any problem so I think the PC is strong enough. Is it because you compressed the show for easier distribution or are the slides very big? Jeff

OK, it is a feature, not a bug. Thanks for the follow-ups. As a fairly new user, I was just confused when I changed source jpegs for the mask, found that the change had been made but that the list of objects still gave the 'old' jpeg name. I use the list of objects constantly to swop jpegs in and out of slides. Now I have to check Properties, Mask, Open explorer to find the currently referenced mask. For other types of object the displayed name is updated as it is changed. Jeff

This is great software and we would all like it to be perfect! Is this a small bug in ver 5.6? Start with a new slide. In O&A add a Mask, e.g. yyy.jpg. Add an image in the container. Now replace the Mask image with another one using Properties, Mask, e.g xxx.jpg The new Mask image is activated but the display in the list of Objects does not get updated and stays - Mask(yyy.jpg) even if you close and open the slide again. What is the situation if someone from outside the UK wants to enter the Geoffrey Round International competition, for example, or a UK resident wants to enter an Australian AV international? Jeff

You have included a music track? You are in Timeline view? You pressed the funny blue squiggle bottom right-hand corner of the screen? If yes to all three questions, then I don't know. Jeff

There may be instances when you would want to override the warning so 'prevention' is probably not a good alternative. Jeff

Let me say again, I am so happy to have changed to PTE! Great software. On Preview, there is a warning: "Duration of transition effect(s) is longer than time of slide(s)... <OK>" The only option is OK. What about CANCEL as an option, if you want to fix the problem before running the Preview? (I know it takes only a couple of seconds longer to press OK and ESC.) Jeff

Hello thedom. yes the problem is elsewhere. I want to copy a slide in the timeline (with all its objects, masks, etc) and paste it somewhere else. I can't use drag and drop because it is slide 1 that is the one to be moved. All the others in the timeline drag and drop. Regards, Jeff

Hi, Please bear with a newbie. I am using PTE 5.6 and have the User guide for 5.6. According to the User guide there is a Copy function on the Slides menu. In my PTE, under the slides tab there is Customise current slide, Objects and animation, etc but the Copy slide and Paste slide shown in the Guide are not options. Also control C and control V don't seem to work. I am using Win XP professional. Many thanks. There must be an obvious answer. Jeff
