  1. Spot on!Anon only has 2 n's. OED Sibilance = hissing, sounded with a hiss (esp. of letter or set of letters, as s, sh from Latin sibilare hiss. A
  2. Dear Barry, First some praise: Your steam train shots are beautiful. I didn't hear one lip smack. Then some criticism: You need a question mark after What is audio visual The sharp breath intakes between sentences annoyed me more and more as the advert went on (and so easy to edit out) Your sibilance is almost getting to be a problem The synchronisation of text, images and monologue could be improved near the beginning. 3. I could not say it better. Thanks Lin and Howard. Jeff
  4. I have a show in which I go back and forth between slides using keyboard controls. I can set transition effect going forward but if I go to previous slide, the standard 'no transition' seems to apply. Please consider implementing the forward transition, in reverse for previous slide. Thanks, Jeff
  5. Barry, You are right. One long AV less than minutes duration or two short ones from the same author will 'attract' £10. The entrance fee funds my next holiday . Jeff
  6. Hello Barry, Yes, rather a lot of money. Geoffrey Round in Wales is £10 for one, £15 for more than one AV. Your very own Adelaide AVFest is £10 for EACH AV. MFFC is £10 for one OR two AVs (and we make it painless with Paypal). It's up to you! Have fun, Jeff
  7. Hello Everyone, All the best for 2011 with your AV efforts. There are roughly 50 days until entries close (1st March) for this salon. If you are entering from overseas, please allow 20 days for postage. (The link to the competition site is in the first post of this thread.) We are looking forward to superb PTE entries! Good luck, Jeff Morris LRPS APSSA Salon Director
  8. Great to have you back, Lin! We all missed you. Jeff
  9. To add to this query... Is it possible to Customise a selection of slides, changing, for example, the Transition Effect but not changing the individual Effect Durations? The existing durations seem to be overriden by the value in the Duration box. This is not always what one wants. Thanks, Jeff
  10. The bottom line is that I too find the search function has limitations. It is not pleasant to go begging for information on the forum after an unsuccessful search to be immediately pointed in the right direction by one of the very active and helpful moderators. The answer is there but the keys are missing. Regards, Jeff
  11. I support this suggestion. Will work for the African colonies. Jeff
  12. Ensure that the PNG is not a 'child' of the panning background object. Jeff
  13. Thanks everyone. Regards, Jeff
  14. Hi all, I don't automatically migrate to the latest version but if it will do the trick, then I will do so now. I am using 6.5.beta 14. Some time ago I turned auto save OFF. Now trying to turn it ON (auto save every 1 minutes), the 'tick' mark does not come on and there does not seem to be an auto save copy in the project folder. Your help will be appreciated, Regards, Jeff
  15. Phil and Peter, While it is true that PTE is not resource hungry, a fast video card is advisable. There are many posts here about how to test cards. Also, at some future time you may wish to view an AV made with another product and some of these hog processor and video card resources. regards, jeff
  16. Please consider entering the 3rd MFFC AV Salon. The closing date for entries is 1st March 2011 so you have plenty of time. All the rules and information are on the website or you may contact me. Payment by Paypal has been arranged. Regards, Jeff Morris LRPS APSSA Salon Director
  17. Well done, Colin. You have taken to PTE like a duck to water. Hope to see your entries at our salon next year (check the Events section). By the way, its a fabulous font you used for the title. Jeff
  18. I agree, it is impressive but it is not an audio-visual. Also the sound appeared 'thin'. Regards, Jeff
  19. May I add another suggestion on this topic? At present autosave is set 'globally' for all projects. I would like to see it set per individual project if possible. I recently made a tutorial AV where I saved the .pte in various states of completeness (with different names - save as) to show how an AV evolves. Although I usually have autosave 'on' for this I turned it off but then had to remember to toggle depending on which AV I was working at the time. Regards, jeff
  20. Hello Peter. Thanks for passing on what you learnt this past weekend. I am sure everyone on the forum who could not be there appreciates your summary. On a related point, where are the results of the judging posted? They are not on the Competition site yet. Regards, Jeff
  21. Hi Dom, You did not miss something. Thank you very much. Your example and explanation makes it clear. Have a good day! Regards, Jeff
  22. Here it is. Thank you for your time. Jefftest_Jul28-2010_10-30-11.zip
  23. Thanks for the offer, Igor. I don't think it is a bug because I get the same result with vanilla 6.0 release. I am doing something silly. Will fiddle about a bit more before posting a sample. Regards, Jeff
