  1. From your picture, I guess you also worked with/for the BUNCH.Jeff
  2. Lin, Peter and others, I think you already know I support your requests. Having been on the other side of the fence, however, developing commercial software in a past life, I know how users behave. "Wouldn't it be great to also be able to do a little EQ and normalisation, and what about just being able to do a little noise removal...". The wish list can very quickly get out of control, ending with the full-blown sound editor that Lin argued against or a lot of disappointed users. Regards, Jeff
  3. Hi Colin, Thanks for taking the trouble to condense. I enjoyed it. Most interesting architecture. How did you condense - resize each image or save with lower quality? Music mpeg? Last question, do you think you lost much with condensing? Regards, Jeff
  4. 70meg. We work with dialup in Africa! Can you streamline it? Jeff
  5. I think he wants the music to continue and the spoken comments to pause. The answer is no, as far as I am aware. Jeff
  6. Greetings, It will load if you change your hat. Try Lin's one. Jeff
  7. Hello everyone, PTE is a first rate product, arguably the best for what it does on the market. If PTE is going to make provision for sound editing, it must match Audition and Audacity, a tall order. If PTE is going to make provision for image editing (like one of its competition does), it must match Photoshop with features. Agree, make provision for insertion of video clips but leave their editing to the likes of Pinnacle Studio. It is an effort to jump between various editing programs but that way I use the best tools for each job. Jeff
  8. Hi petere, I think I had the same 'problem', when I started using PTE. If The Dom's suggestion did not help, check Project Options, Main, tick Synchronize music and slides. Might help. Regards, Jeff
  9. Lin posted the .pte file for his crittercube. That would be a good start. Jeff
  10. Well done, Igor and the team. Great stuff. I am just a tad worried about all the resting and vacations that are being encouraged here. Take a quick break and then tackle that 'to do' list! Jeff
  11. Great Lin, but you lost me with the 'implication'. Maybe it will help to know the words of the song. What about a fast shooting star somewhere? Jeff
  12. Thanks Dom, Fixed. I knew it had to be something elementary! I have never been in the toolbox. Jeff
  13. Hello Lin, Now I am awake again and you should still be asleep for some hours. Thank you for your example. I have opened it and it plays as it should. I then wanted to move the small cube at 0:0.0 from bottom left where you had it to top left so I highlight controller in the objects list and highlight the keyframe on the timeline. As soon as I click and drag, only image 6832 moves and not everything in the cube. I tried left-click, right-click, shift-click, ctrl-click and alt-click. As usual, there must be a very simple answer because you moved the cube from centre, where you assembled it, to bottom left. Edit: I fiddled some more. I can move the cube by inserting new values in the pan blocks for controller - its just the drag and drop that gives trouble. Thanks again, Jeff
  14. Hello Lin, I am working towards making one of your spinning cubes but I want it to 'appear' small from bottom left, say, and grow to full size centred and stopping on a particular face of the cube. So when the sides, top and bottom of the cube are right, I want to drag the controller frame to bottom left and shrink it at the first keyframe. At the last keyframe it will be full size and centred. Thanks for your help. Jeff
  15. Using 6.0 beta 18 I have a frame with child objects. I can resize and rotate the frame and the children resize/rotate too. I want to drag and drop the frame and contents off-centre. When I try to do this, only the first child moves even though the frame is selected. Is there a frame 'handle' that I am missing? The manual says: If you add the frame, an image or a group of images will be dependent on it. It means that a frame will be a parent and all images inside it will be its children. You can adjust a lot of options: color, opacity, drop shadow, pan/zoom, size of the frame and so on. Thanks a lot, Jeff
  16. I am sorry Ricardo, but that is how it is. Jeff
  17. Thanks, Dave and Tom, Dave - I seem to have missed something. Latest PTE has a create option for 'HD video for PC and Mac'. This seems to generate an mp4 file, with no option for exe. Are you saying 'Executable file for PC' produces HD? Tom - I have benchmarked my video card with the link provided by Lin and my card is hopelessly inadequate, as I thought. Upgrading the card is one thing, if the motherboard can support it, but I am looking for all the implications like the screen (and projector) needing to be 'HD ready', or at least take input from the upgraded card. Jeff
  18. Hi All, There are bits and pieces of the answer I want in this section of the Forum but please could someone with hardware knowledge help. Its not about the Pounds, Dollars or Euros but rather what kit needs to be replaced/upgraded in order to produce and show HD AVs to their best advantage. What is the minimuim that needs to be done and what is the ultimate? PTE can already generate HD shows as mp4 files, so no problem there. You just need to know that your jpegs may need to be cropped differently (16:9 instead of 4:3) Display screen - does a standard SVGA need replacing (probably optional if you can live with 'squashed' display). If you are going to replace, is any HD-ready screen suitable or are there specific requirements? Video card - apart from high speed, discussed at length here, is there any specific HD-related requirement? Computer power supply may need upgrading to cope with the power requirements of the video card Projector - same question as for display You need an mp4 player - Quicktime seems to do the job for free Anything else that needs upgrading in the chain from images to HD presentations? Thanks Jeff
  19. Hi Dom, Very good ideas. You say it is a work in progress so take for what it is worth - I found the 'clouds' transitions out of place. Keep it up! Jeff
  20. Hi Lin, Jury rigged or not - it works magnificently. Jeff
  21. Hello Everyone, Our second salon closes in February 2010. Here is the link to the details: http://sites.google.com/site/mffcavsalons/Home/mffcavsalon2010 You can also find a link on the RPS AV News site. We welcome entries from anywhere. Jeff Morris Salon Director
  22. Hi, This is probably known but here goes. It has to do with synch so I looked in the forum first. PTE 5.6 (project option synchronise.... TICKED) Audacity 1.2.6 Made soundtrack and called it xx v1.mp3 PTE: Added soundtrack. Got slides and music in synchro. Good Took out a few seconds of sound in Audacity and saved as xx v1.mp3 (same name) PTE: Removed music and added music in again. The strange thing is that the moving 'timeline' at the bottom of the screen and the sound waves didn't match any more. Saved soundtrack as xx v2.mp3, removed xx v1.mp3 and added xx v2.mp3 and PTE recognised that the soundtrack was new and everything is OK again. Regards, Jeff
  23. Hi Lin, Thanks for excellent demo. Makes me want to upgrade immediately but I think I will stay with 5.6 until Beta 6 stabilises. Off topic: please tell what microphone you used and audio hardware/software for your excellent voice-over. (Or do you just talk through your hat?) Regards, Jeff
  24. Here are two more tests: HP Compaq nx9030 Notebook (I did not expect this machine to handle the load, and it didn't. Worst jitter so far) XP SP3 HP Intel Pentium M processor 1.60 GHz 591 MHz 224 mb RAM Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics controller Oldish desktop. Still some jitter but smoothest so far. Still not within acceptable limits XP SP2 Pentium 4 2.80 GHz 2.79 GHz 512 MB RAM NVIDA GeForce 6200 LG Flatron 775FT at 1024x768 Jeff
  25. Just for interest, what did you change regarding the music? Sampling frequency or a totally different cut? Jeff
