  1. While on that subject, what is the operation of having the additional object images become indented from the parent object? I notice in members PTE demos that some are indented and some are not. What is the effect and purpose of the indentations? Bill
  2. Really enjoyed this Forum message today on our 3 day holiday. It even forced me to go to my dictionary to review the work "polemical". Now I will get back to practising with 5.0 BETA, and greatly enjoying the challenges (more interesting than polemics)! Bill
  3. OK Al, I looked at the pte and still don't understand how it works. No problem thougn, I'm still struggling with the "map line" task! Bill
  4. Thanks Lin for your comment re: the text. The Photoshop part is no problem, the key is saving as a .PNG, not jpg. Bill
  5. Very interesting tutorial. The Photoshop movie does not appear to me that one could do that in PTE 5.0, more like Camtasia. Can you clarify how that part was done? The Layers Comp feature is great for use in creating PTE sequences, and is also available in PS CS as well as CS2. Bill
  6. Paulo - Welcome to the Forum. Don't feel at the bottom of the stack at all. I was there with 5.0 beta, and by staying with the Forum, I am at least only next to the bottom now! The Forum is your best learning environment, plus playing with the program. Bill
  7. Thanks alot Al for your past two responses. I will work on both. What a wonderful resource is the Forum particularly with 5.0. I can hardly keep up with the Forum traffic since Igor set the AV world on fire! Bill
  8. How does one place individual letters into the O/A screen? Presumably this must be done in Photoshop at present as adding text within the O/A screen is not available. I can easily put letters into any image in Photoshop. However, if I do a new file, and show it as transparent, then bring it up in O/A as an added image, it appears in O/A with the full screen size with a white background, not transparent. Help! Bill
  9. Al - that red line is great! I looked at the pte objects, but I don't see how the big red area is created to do the line running down the road. That is real animation, and I suppose I'm the only one on the Forum that doesn't understand how to do it!
  10. I have just started using my laptop for PTE5.0 testing as that is the machine I use for computer club presentations. It's a bit jirky, not as smooth as the desktop machine. Although the Dell 8200 Inspiron has a P4 2.2Ghz cpu, the Radeon 9000 has only 64Mb of RAM so it may not have all the horsepower it needs. However, there is also the issue of operator use of PTE 5 - those keypoint timings have to be correct to avoid stuttering and an occasional unintended black image! Bill
  11. I am also interested in a means of uploading various files such as PTE and jpgs without going through a "website" effort. Any methods would be apprecitated. bill I am trying to download your Potato Head demo. No amount of refreshing brings it up. Does it work in Forefox? Bill Make that Firefox!
  12. Yes, sampling clips in allofmp3 doesn't work too well by just clicking on it, until you save it to disk - then you should get the full 90 second sample. Bill
  13. I would love to see Jeff's PTE5 tutorial as I enjoyed the Timeline document and finally learned how to use the Timeline properly. Since 5.0 beta has been released, there has been a wealth of information flowing on the Forum and I wish I had all that material in a nicely organized document. I am usually several months behind the cutting edge Forum members, but I stay with the Forum and particularly since 5.0. I basically lurk in the background, but I enjoy those email Forum messages every day! Bill
  14. I have used www.allofmp3.com. Great selection, buy by the album or the track. Bill
  15. No problems, very smooth as previous with Nvidia 7800GTX Bill
  16. Beautifully done JP, smooth and slick. I am getting some small hesitations in my panning on my own tests, but not with others, so I'm not worried about my hardware. Why would I get the hesitations (probably less than .1 second) in my images, but not those of the members? Bill
  17. Also how to add text? In Option/animation screen, nothing happens when I click Add Text. Yet others are producing text. Is it being done by a Photoshop jpg image? Bill Just noticed I am now a "senior member". Wow! However, I am a totally junior member on PTE 5 beta. Bill
  18. I agree with Lin's idea about keeping the tutorial PTE files within the PTE community, ie, The Forum. In any case, I suspect that I am not the only member that is in the dark about how some of the very beautiful PTE5 beta sequences are being made, and access to the .pte files as demos would be extremely helpful. Bill
  19. Thank you Igor for that data on image size. That is exactly what I have been looking for as a guide since the original 1024 X 768 doesn't do well with pan & Zoom. Bill
  20. Ran test 3 times, no problems at all - smooth as silk. My only problem is how to actually get Objects and Animation to actually work! I really haven't worked very hard on it yet, but I'll keep at it. Bill
  21. Good comment Ken. It has always been described as a beta release, not for prime time until finalized and is advertised on the Wnsoft web page. Since testers must have a separate HD or partition to place the beta version, one has to assume that we are not "using" v5.0 at all, but merely testing it, as Igor has stated. I'm comfortable with that status until things evolve, and in the meantime there is new life on the Forum - not that it has ever been dull! Bill
  22. I'm not clear what this test is to indicate, unless there are problems that show up. I had no problems with music or without music at any time. The smoothness of the pans and zooms remain excellent, even climbing the tall tree. It shows what a fast machine, lots of RAM and a high end video card can do. After reading dozens of Forum messages on PTE 5 beta, I've now got to get to work and actually figure out how to make it run for me! Bill
  23. What two beautiful examples of PTE 5 beta we have just seen. I thought music wasn't ready to add to Pan & Zoom? Sounds nice to me. It's also amazing that what smart PTE users we have on the Forum that can get 5 beta demos on line withing 48 hours of release! And I'm still trying to understand what a set point is! Bill
  24. Fractals also ran very smoothly on my desktop machine as I had expected. I'm sure everyone is very excited about v5.0 beta when it is available. I noticed some members having slight problems with smooth pan/zoom with the demos. When I set up my new machine last year, I did a lot of research on high end graphics hardware to get best quality. It's hard to beat the Nvidia 7800GTX chip for the video card with 256Mb RAM. Also I am running Directx 9.0c, which I believe is MS latest version. For those interested in testing their graphic processors, the FutureMark benchmark tests will tell what your machine will do in graphics. A free demo can be found at http://www.futuremark.com/download/3dmark06/ which is the latest version. I have 05 which is still available. If you can't run 3dmark05 it may not mean that PTE v5.0 won't work correctly, but if 05 does work, it will also work fine for PTE. Bill
  25. Thanks Igor for the 2 samples. Runs beautifully on my laptop and desktop. You asked for hardware specs: Laptop, Dell 8200 P4 2.2 Ghz, Radeon 9000 Desktop, custom built, P4 dual core 3.0 Ghz, Leadtek GeForce 7800 GTX w/256Mb RAM. Will v5.0 b1 really be released next week? Bill
