I don't think that providing the functionality would be the problem, but it would not that easy for the users to create appropriate displacement maps. Perhaps PTE could offer this feature as an effect with some nice presets such as water effects.

There are two slide show products (in Germany and Austria) which support displacement effects.

Some recommendations (without obligation
):
1. Choose an appropriate music with respect to the images (is a matter of taste).
2. Choose vocal music only if the lyrics correspond to the images.
3. Its OK to use cuts (quick transitions) if the music has a strong rhythm, but place the cuts on beat 1. -

It is up to each user how to present his posts. For people who are not native speakers the work with long texts is somewhat tedious

PTE only highlights an image in the file list when you make it a "Main Image" (whatever the reason may be).

A more difficult task: Do the page curl as in your example but without the second small image (white beach) in the background.

The point is that an empty PTE does not exist at all ! ! ! - Whenever you start PTE, you always have already opened a project, either the last saved project or the standard project "Project1" (see Title Bar). Which one you will get depends on your settings. Project1 has an empty slide list, it has not yet been saved, but it already exists. You will obtain exactly the same situation, when you use "New ..." in order to close any open project (which you then can save or just forget) and to start again with a new instance of "Project1" having an empty slide list. What should an additional command "Close" really do? Define it! Be precise! It cannot give you an empty PTE, as this does not exist; should it be an unsaved project with an empty slide list? But this is precisely what "New .." does (I've said this already above).
You cannot compare the situation with Photoshop, as Photoshop can be started without opening any media, while PTE is different. Should WnSoft change its concept? I don't see any need for that. The standard project "Project1" with its empty slide list should be empty enough.

Perhaps I should call it "Effects for objects", rather than transitions. I cannot give you the example I would like to show you, as PTE does not have the said feature. You can have these effects when working with Wings or m.objects, two classical AV programs, which do not work with the concept of slides. Objects there live on independent parallel tracks (as in video editors), and you have effects like a curling page change from one image on one track to another one on the same track. In cases where the images fill the screen, there isn't much difference to the corresponding transition in PTE. But if the images on the tracks have reduced sizes you can have several curling page changes at the same time.

We do not (yet) have timeline scaling in O&A. But you may distribute your video across several slides by defining your video as a master video track, and in the following slides you insert the same video as linked to the master.

This is true, but only in a restricted manner. I would like to see transitions (e.g. curling pages) between objects, anytime in the middle of the slide's time, while other object move along the screen. You typically have these effects with AV software that has parallel tracks instead of slides.

You may add a rectangle of an appropriate size, aspect ratio and tranparency. Insert the text object as a child of this rectangle.

In O&A you see the button "Slide Options". You can open them an change the duration.

The command "Close" does not make sense!
Yes, there are applications which offer "Close" (Photoshop, XnView, MPC-HC, Audacity, ...) but there are others which do not (VLC, IrfanView, Handbrake, SumatraPDF, ...). Applications with "Close" that I know all have one thing in common. You can start them without seeing an image, video, or project. PTE has a different concept. You cannot start PTE without having an open project. Depending on the settings, PTE either starts with the last saved project, or PTE starts with a new project, not yet saved, typically called Project1.
What should PTE do, if there were a command "Close"? It should close the project in work, and then? As PTE never shows up without an open project, I would expect that a new, not yet saved project would be the right choice. But this would be exactly, what PTE's command "New" already does.
Just asking for "Close" does not make sense. Question: Should WnSoft offer a new design for the handling of projects where "Close" could have its place? Perhaps, but not for me!

Remark from an old mathematician: The discussion has reached a state where logic is left behind. Posts will become longer and longer without adding anything substantial. Sometimes I like this kind of discussion, but not in a foreign language (too tedious). We could open a topic in the German section of this forum ...
By the way: Photopia and DaVinci Resolve seem to offer blending modes. But perhaps the designers may all be idiots ...

Ich habe die obigen Vorlagen (inzwischen gelöscht) noch ein wenig überarbeitet und ergänzt. Tunnel_4 zeigt den Effekt mit 4 Kreissektoren, Tunnel_6 mit 6 Sektoren (wie oben im Video gezeigt), und Tunnel_8 liefert 8 Kreissektoren.
Die nachfolgenden Vorlagen passen sich automatisch an die gängigen Seitenverhältnisse an (16:9, 16:10, 3:2 und 4:3). Tunnel_4 erwartet als Eingabe ein Bild mit dem Seitenverhältnis 3:2, Tunnel_6 ein quadratisches Bild und Tunnel_8 ein hochformatiges Bild mit dem Seitenverhältnis 3:4.
