  1. Somebody made the suggestion (sorry don't remember who ) but I think it has not been posted in the suggestions section : Instead of having a still shadow, the ability to assocoiate keypoints to the shadows for a 3D effect. Of course, you can add an image ( .png file) right now but it would much more convenient. Igor, do you think you can make it ?
  2. The idea was discussed a long time ago but I think the suggestions was not posted in this section. So here it is : in the O/A window, ability to add or remove n,nnn seconds. The user select an object in the object list, click anywhere in the timeline of this object and with a right click, specify how much time he wants to add or remove. This would move all the following keypoints. He can also tell if this time is applied to this object only or to all objects of this slide. As I couldn't find the original suggestion, I don't know if Igor told if it was feasible or not. I think this option would be very useful, for me at least.
  3. I would like to be able to play a slieshow before an event with a count down timer running in the corner showing how much longer until the end of the slideshow. (Start of the event.) mm:ss This would allow people to know they need to start sitting down. I know this would not be ideal for most slideshow But think It would be usefull.
  4. After having created 5 long shows with PTE we have found it awkward to aligning text and buttons - it has to be done by eye unless you make your own special image. It would be much easier if an option was added to the project Options to display a grid over the top of the display. The grid could have user set spacings or maybe just offer one of several, say a grid at 10% intervals across the display area and another with 1/2. 1/4, 1/8 and 1/16 spacings. Of course the grid should be toggled on and off just like the TVsafe zone is done at present. At present we have found you can do this by creating your own PNG image with a grid, adding the grid image as an object then deleting the grid image when finished but thats pretty slow for a simple task. It should be fairly easy to code this as the O&A display already has similar features as it displays edge highlighted and also can optionally show the TV safe zone.
  5. I would like to see a right click menu option in the timeline which enabled you to right click on a slide and select all slides to the right of the chosen slide to enable all those slide to be moved. I know that the windows keyboard shift+end can be used but this moves you to the end of the timeline as well as selecting the slides. I suggested this once before but having done a quick search was unable to find it so thought I would try again. It is an invaluable feature when doing slideshows containing large numbers of images. Regards Geoff
  6. I like Picture to Exe over most photo slide show softwares, because P2E takes very few memories and may use midi to make the background music. My friends also like it too. But when I distribute it through email, some people are afraid use it, because feared it includes the virus, most people don’t open the file with extension “.exe” or “.com”, that is true to stop the P2E wide spreading over the world, my suggestion is: 1. To develop a software to prove (P2E).exe without virus including, or it is a P2E file. 2. To develop a small software can be used to start the (P2E).exe file only and don’t open other .exe files.
  7. There are several other requests for improvements to this aspect of PTE V5.0, and I note that Igor has already commented on some of them. From my first creation of an animation I thought it would be useful to have an indication in the Slide List of the presence of an animation. Clearly there are a range of possible solutions of varying degrees of implementation complexity. But, for example, indication using a coloured frame around the main thumbnail image would be adequate. Some comments and suggestions by others... Igor The Dom KSF Federov
  8. There is often need to make same slideshow for different language audience. With present PTE I have to make separate slideshows for each language. That actually consumes space and text has to be edited newly for each presentation. It would be real space-saver and time-saver to have the ability to create different sets of text for same slideshow and to switch between them during presentation. Something like using subtitles on DVD but being able to define position and style for text objects on each ślide. Urmas
  9. Long time since I've posted here; but working with my son this week on six a/vs for a corporate client, he suggested that a one click button that would automatically consolidate and copy all files into a single folder would be useful. I know the methodical approach of getting your pictures and music etc into a single folder before starting is the best way to go, but sometimes with tight deadlines a slide show is sometimes produced on the fly with pictures being pulled from a variety of sources. A button that would compile copies of all the files into one folder at the end of a production, would make this invaluable program, even more brilliant than it is. Cheers, Rob Walls
  10. I’ve proposed this improvement previously. (See: Link ). Alt + Drag & Drop from a File Panel thumbnail would replace an existing slide in the Slide List with an alternative slide. Any existing transition parameters in the timeline would remain unchanged. I would expect the main slide of any animation to be replaced. This simple, intuitive function would emulate changing an existing slide in a sequence that is arranged on a light box. [Note. Replies to my previous post describe how to replace slides in the Slide List, but these methods involve browsing through filenames, rather than thumbnails, to choose the alternative slide.]
  11. (PTE V4.48 & V5.04) In Horizontal View and Vertical View when moving the right margin to increase the size of the File Panel the slide list control buttons (Add Slide, Remove Slide, Clear List, etc.) also move and can partially disappear off the screen. There is no reason for these buttons to move – they should remain in fixed positions in the Slide List Panel. When compiling a slide list I like to maximise the File Panel to see as many images as possible to choose from.
  12. (PTE V4.48 & V5.04 under Windows 98 & XP) In Vertical View, drag the right margin of the Preview Panel leftwards enough to allow the left margin of the Preview Panel to be dragged rightwards over and past the Preview Panel right margin. The Preview Panel is now lost and its margins cannot be adjusted. Note. I have found at least one way to recover the Preview Panel from this condition. (Other than re-installing PTE!) Post solutions in this thread…
  13. When I went to review an old slide show I wasn't able to determine which music file was being used. In "Project Options" "Music" tab. It shows a list of music files in the box "Background music for show". Unfortunately there isn't enough horizontal space to completely view the file, even when the slider is moved to the far right. The file is "C:\Users\KGL\Videos\Tintern Abbey resized\90 The Might of Rome.mp3" and I'm only able to see up to the word ".......Rom" A second file with the same name, but with the extension ".wav" is in the same directory and I'm unable to tell which file I used in the slide show. Perhaps you could make changes such as letting the slider move further to the right, expand the window, or let "mouse hover" view the entire name. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium at 1680 x 1050 pixels. Ken
  14. Suggestion-1 : (O&A Window / Keypoint Time) I would like to see a decimal point placed in the 1000ths of a second to make the figures easier to understand. E.g.: 10.568 as opposed to 10568 Suggestion-2 : (O&A Window / Timeline) I personally would much prefer the Keypoint ‘labels’ in the O&A Timeline to show their position (time) in respect of that particular slides’ duration on screen,,, rather than the ‘labels’ reflecting their position with regards to the show as a whole. Suggestion-3 : (O&A Window / Pan-Zoom-Rotate Defaults) I would like to see multiple Keypoints ‘separated’ by default, rather than ‘joined’ (or is that just me ?) Suggestion-4 : (Copy-Paste v. Drag-&-Drop) This may be rather more difficult to achieve, but I would like to be able to Drag-&-Drop slides from one PTE window to a second PTE window (including any A&O settings). Currently a slide, or slides, can be Copy-Pasted successfully between two separate ‘projects’ within one PTE window (including A&O settings) --- however, the ability to Drag-&-Drop between two separate windows,,, or Copy-Paste between two separate windows,,, would be more user-friendly – I think !? I apologise if I am repeating suggestions already put forward. bjc
  15. There needs to be a way that the slideshows can be played on a secondary monitor or display. This would be very useful for people that are running a secondary monitor wit a projector and then have there primary monitor to do other tasks. This may also just be a windows thing but it would be great.
  16. I've just noticed that in the thumbnails view if a slide is only used within the O&A view PTE doesn't show it in bold. Is that intentional? I'd like to know whether I've already used a slide whether it's a main image or an O&A image.
  17. This may have been covered elsewhere but I will mention my experience today. I had to purchase a new computer last weekend after a major crash of my other 6 month old machine. (I fell asleep working on a project, woke with a leg cramp and kicked the puta and glass top off the table followed by a glass of water, glass of strawberries and wine, cup of black coffee all of which proceeded to give the puta a bath) But that's another story. I did purchase another laptop, this time with Vista and promptly started the project over again, thank goodness for having a backup only a few days old. I put the girlfriends project together again about 180 pics 325megs, reduced to 5.5 megs with Batch Image Resizer, and all went well with creating an exe, with music. When it came to the video burn the first attempt, 18mins only to create, failed for unknown reason. No problem, try another disc etc. After fiddling and changing discs I finally got it to work on the fourth attempt with an RW disc. Great final production as was another I did not long ago for a kids art exhibition for the school, Now I finally get to the point of the post, is there any way to, or future plan to, be able to stop the temp file being deleted on any failure to burn, this would save a lot of time waiting for it to be created it again.
  18. We can view the TV Safe Zone ... is Fit to TV Safe Zone possible or is this function not a practical solution? This will quickly fit images for DVD production shows and help avoid the tv cropping effect many users experience. Users now currently compensate for this cropping effect by using Additional Options and set to a % of the slide to show main images.
  19. Folks, I think I may have raised this before but can’t remember the reaction. I would really like to have, as an option, the ability to see the key points of more than one object displayed simultaneously on the O&A time line. I appreciate that with many objects this would become very confusing. However, I feel that, perhaps by using different colours for each object, this could be overcome. I can’t envisage a situation where one would want to show every key point for every object simultaneously, in a sequence of multiple objects but I am convinced that the ability to show the relationship between any two or perhaps three selected objects would be very useful. The ability to optionally designate specific key points (e.g. Fade or end of Zoom) for different objects, to show on the time line, could be one way of achieving this without cluttering the time line. Just a thought! John
  20. It is currently possible to initiate slide changes when an on-screen button is clicked (Goto slide function). Could this be extended to enable a slide change when the button is hovered? This would open up new possibilities when creating interactive slide shows with on-screen menus.
  21. Watcher Defined Music Files I create a lot of slideshows of outdoor trips to share with friends who were on the trip. I do my best to put appropriate music to the slides, but my friends have a wide range of music tastes. The idea here is the slideshow creator would pick transition time points (ability to define fade characteristics would be nice too) while making the show and the watcher or end user would be able to substitute their MP3 files for the ones included in the EXE. I would think this could be accomplished in several different ways, but it seems the easiest would be using a standard naming convention (1.mp3, 2.mp3, etc) and have the program look in the directory it is executed from to see if they are there. This function is specific to sharing slideshows with friends and would not be useful for slideshows created for artistic A/V purposes. If people were worried about others changing their work, an option could be added to disable the feature. However, it might be useful for those wishing to stay clear of copyright issues for professional shoots like weddings. Create the show with the customer's desired songs, then provide the show without them with instructions to include their own music files. Steve Newcomb Tucson, AZ USA
  22. - Missing sound preview - PTE is really overloaded with (unnecessary or twice) functions and options - no quick save / load button on the desk - when you load a sound file, delete them, close the dialog and start again, you were pointed to root (c:) and not to the directory where your sound tracks are located - no prompt when overwriting
  23. Sometimes I want the work I'm doing in O&A to synchronize to music. It would save a lot of time if the music played when I hit the play button in that view.
  24. How come a program in its 5th version still can not fade music at the end of a show ? With all of the powerfull and advanced features why do we still have to use a 3rd party program to do something so simple ? Here are some of my suggestions. 1. Ability to fade music in and out. Its such a pain to get your show set up like you want, then use another program to fade your music and then oops...I made a change and now I have to do it all over again. Yuk. 2. Would be great if we had the ability to see the transitions between each slide in the slide view and change them from there like most other slideshow and video programs do. 3. It would be great if we could cycle thru the slides when the "Customize Slide" window is open. To change things like transitions on a slide by slide basic you have to open the customize window, make your change, close the window then move to the next slide. How about some arrows at the top of the window letting you cycle between slides like you do in the "Objects and Animation" window. 4. Pre-made caption effects. 5. Some kind of grid or the ability to add lines to the work area in the object and animation window with snap-to abilities. Has anyone ever used a program like Print Master/Print Shop. You can add overlay lines anywhere you want with snap-to ability to help line up objects. This would be very helpfull in P2E. These are my suggestions for now. The first 3 would really help with usability and speed of creating a slideshow. Later
