I added a single clip.  Changed the speed to 200%.  It changed the stated video duration but it did not speed up the clip.  Also, I could not publish the show to an .mp4.  The publish window just sat there and never did anything.  It did create a 1KB file with the name but that's all.  I went back in and tried to change the speed from 200% back to 100%.  Moved the slider then manually typed in the number.  Closed the window and PTEAV just locked up and I had to "End Process".

I started over with another clip.  I changed the speed to 50%.  That worked ok but then I tried to trim the end of the video and the window never showed me the end.  I could go in and trim the video first and then set the speed to 50% and that worked fine.

Just for the record, I experiment with ticking the "Interpolation" box for this video, but the video then became quite blurry.  Apparently the interpolation is only intended for extremely slow videos.

I tried again with the second clip and trimmed in first then set to 200% speed.  Duration changed, but not speed.  Went back and again attempted to reset speed to 100% and the little display window went black and then when I closed the Trim and Adjust Speed window, PTEAV once again locked up and I had to shut it down.

I tried one more time and trimmed first and adjusted speed to 200%.  Duration changed, actual video speed did not.  This one did publish.

Setting video speed definitely has some issues.  Let me know if you need further information.

I did go into V11 and set the speed on both videos I had tried to 200% speed and they did indeed speed up and I was able to save them.

FYI, I am on a PC running Win 24H2 with 64 GB memory.

Hi Mary,

Thanks for checking video editing functions. Please send me this video file which causes freezing and incorrect speed. Better with a project file (.pte). Write me a personal message with a link.

I found a couple of issues with editing of video speed and duration. We'll fix it.

I reproduced this issue. Thanks.

PTE 12: Why is Video Optimiser still a separate tool?

With the release of PTE 12, it is time to address a critical issue regarding workflow efficiency.

PTE AV Studio has evolved into a full-fledged NLE (Non-Linear Editor), yet we are still forced to use the Video Optimiser as a standalone external utility. In 2026, this fragmented approach is no longer acceptable for a professional.

The technology for stabilisation, noise reduction, and frame interpolation is already yours. Keeping it locked in a separate tool creates an unnecessary mess for the user. We should not have to jump back and forth between two programs to prepare our clips before bringing them into the V12 timeline.

The competition is moving much faster in terms of native integration. If PTE 12 wants to be taken seriously as a modern editor, these tools must be accessible with a single click directly from the File List or the O&A editor.

Is there a technical reason why you are keeping this split environment, or can we expect a full, native integration in the upcoming V12 builds?

Thanks

As an old customer, I am still waiting for a clear answer. With the V12 release, why is the Video Optimiser still a separate, external utility? In 2026, this fragmented workflow is unacceptable. You claim PTE is now a full NLE, but forcing us to jump between two programs for stabilization and noise reduction is a step backward. The competition is integrated; we are still stuck with standalone tools. As a long-time supporter, I expect more than silence. Is a native integration planned for the V12 builds, or are you ignoring your core users?

Thanks

PTE Video Optimiser was designed as a standalone app, useful as a complement/addition to PTE AV Studio, and useful for a wide audience of users.

Some features from PTE Video Optimiser already have been ported to PTE AV Studio 12. For example, video export in AV1 (WEBM) format and support for vertical video export.

Video stabilization and noise reduction cannot be performed with highest quality in real time (they require significant CPU and GPU computations). Stabilization works in 2 passes for the best quality. These features can only be implemented for video export.
An important feature of PTE AV Studio is that all our effects (except Motion Blur) work in real time and are available in a fullscreen preview, in the EXE shows, and in the video export.
Stabilization is the most complex feature due to its 2 passes, which must be precisely timed. Integrating it into PTE AV Studio will be even more hard than in PTE Video Optimiser.
Yes, I'd like to see stabilization/noise reduction functions in PTE AV Studio, but right now we're not ready to implement them. Sorry.

Igor, I understand the technical constraints regarding real-time performance and the complexity of two-pass stabilization. However, if these tools must remain external, the solution should be logical and integrated. Since PTE already allows us to define an external editor for images, why not do the same for video? A simple "Edit in Video Optimiser" command in the context menu would bridge the gap. Furthermore, from a commercial standpoint, you should offer PTE 12 and Video Optimiser as a single bundle. Honestly, from our side as users, even a slight price increase for a "two-in-one" package would be much better than dealing with fragmented workflows and waiting years for technical fixes. It would solve the problem for you and the workflow issues for us in one move. If PTE 12 wants to be a professional NLE in 2026, we need a seamless experience, even if it’s powered by two separate engines under the hood..

Thanks

Just as you define the External graphics editor, you can choose the external video editor and audio editor, both in version 12 and 11. I have it configured with Vegas for video and Audition for audio; you can choose Video Optimiser if you want.
