  1. Thanks, I tried exporting at 720 by 576 and it solved the problem! Ray Groome
  2. I have attempted to use Beta 7.1 using a video clip from Adobe Premier Pro CS4 (which is new to me). The clip was exported as MPEG2 with dimensions 1440 by 1080 and looks fine when viewed in Explorer, but in PTE the aspect ratio has changed to a square format, distorting the clip. I doubt if this is a bug, I guess I am doing something wrong! Any clues, please? Ray Groome
  3. Igor Congratulations- success! It worked perfectly. Thanks for all your efforts. Ray Groome
  4. Igor I tried that and it did not freeze. But if I dragged an image from the File List and dropped it onto the Slide List it froze the program
  5. Igor Thanks for all your efforts- but still no improvement!
  6. Igor No improvement, I am afraid! It still freezes.
  7. Igor I carried out all these tests and they did not cause any problems. I only get freezing when I drag and drop images within the slide list.
  8. Igor I did this but it installed as 6.5.4. No improvement, I am afraid.
  9. Igor It only freezes when I move a slide of an existing project.
  10. Igor Sorry, I am not sure of your question. The tests you requested were carried out using a pte project. I do not have any problems playing back or pausing a preview of a pte project.
  11. Igor That worked OK, using both Aero and Basic screens. When I depressed the Pause/Play button the slideshow paused and when depressed again it restarted from the beginning. I was also able to open additional pte projects.
  12. Igor Please will you check this reference as my Search Engine does not recognise it.
  13. Igor My Computer details are as follows: Processor: Intel Core i5 750 2.66 Ghz 4800MT/s 8mb Cache (Soc1156) Memory: Kingston 6Gb DDR3 1600MHzHyper X XMP Memory Kit CL9(9-9-9-27) Video Card: 1 GB AT1 Radeon HD5450 VTX DDR3 HDMI/DVI/CRT 64 bit version of Windows 7 The same problem occurs with PTE 6, but I have not tried it on earlier versions, as I have only recently installed Windows 7 Hope this helps!
  14. I have the same problem, which I reported a couple of weeks ago. I updated my driver and it did not provide the solution, so I too have resorted to using the Windows Basic display.
  15. Igor Freezing does not occur during any of the actions you describe. It only occurs when I try to move slides around in the slide list. (the first slide moves OK but it freezes if I try to move any more)
  16. My computer has been custom made by a local supplier. The Processor is Intel Core i5 750 2.66Ghz 4800MT/s 8mb Cashe (Soc1156). The video card is 1 GB AT1 Radeon HD5450 VTX DDR3 HDMI/DVI/CRT. Resizing the main window does not cause a crash. Many thanks for your interest.
  17. Igor Thanks for your suggestions but none of these tests changed the performances of my computers. My Sony Vaio F Series (model PCG-91112M) works well with PTE but my new desktop will only perform correctly if I remove the Aero Theme from my desktop. I confirm that I have installed all the latest Windows 7 updates.
  18. Igor I am using the latest version- 6.5.2, and the problem occurs whenever I move the thumbnails that are displayed at the bottom of the screen, as you describe, or when I move the images in the Full Screen View. This problem does not occur on my Sony Vaio laptop -which has the same version of PTE and Windows, so perhaps there is a fault with my new desktop computer? I have not observed any other problems with it, however. Any suggestions, please?
  19. I was unable to browse to find a png file- nothing happened when I clicked the browse button. But I have now found the cause of the problem! In solving a compatibility problem - see the thread titled 'Crashes-Windows 7 and PTE 6.5.2' I followed the advice to adjust the Compatibilty options under PTE/Properties/Compatibility . I have now reverted to the original settings and the browse function returns! So in solving one problem I created another! So the solution to the crashing problem that I have encountered is: avoid the Aero Themes in Windows 7 Desktop Backgrounds and only use a Basic plain colour Theme. Life is getting too complicated!
  20. Davegee Thanks, I have found that but when I go to Customize Copyright logo and click on the browse icon, nothing happens. Is this a fault with the latest program? The problem with the 'Adjust Image and Border' facility is that the width of the border reverts back to a default value rather than remembering the last chosen value- which is not very convenient when you have a lot of slides to work with.
  21. I am trying to catch up on this discussion.. please can you spell out how I can use the copyright facility- I too am interested in a convenient way of adding a boarder without taking all my images into Photoshop.
  22. nobeefstu Amazing! You are right. I changed from the Aero Themes on my Desktop to a Basic Theme and the problem disappeared. I would never have thought of that solution. Many thanks! I also tried adjusting the Properties/ Compatibility settings for the PTE program as you suggested and I had to disable both the 'Visual Themes' and the 'Desktop Composition' settings before the problem was resolved when using an Aero Theme. (I am operating 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium)
