  1. Thanks for your suggestions. I was unable to find how to synchronise video folders (but managed it for photo folders!) Why do they make things so obscure? So I have gone ahead and ordered a Kingston Mobilite, which only costs £16. Thanks for that lead- I would never have discovered otherwise! Ray Groome
  2. I have recently purchased an iPad Air and would like to copy one of my pte slide shows (mp4) on to it from my Windows computer. I am baffled by this 'simple' task. Please can you advise how I go about it! Ray Groome
  3. Dave, I like this Style, but would love to know how you constructed it. I have followed some of the published tutorials (e.g the ones on Cubes) but am still scratching my head on this one. I fear it is too complex to describe in detail. But if you can point me in the right direction I would be pleased! Ray Groome
  4. Thanks for the suggestion. On further examination of using PTE for video work I do not think I can avoid using some video editing software before applying PTE.
  5. I have some limited experience of editing video on Adobe Premier Elements and I was wondering if I should make more use of PTE for this work as I shall also be incorporating a lot of still images in the compilation. I have read the PTE User Notes on this topicbut I am not clear how I get the video from my Sony video camera (using mini DV tape) into a form that can be converted by PTE. Currently I capture it in Premier and it creates AVI video clips which PTE can accept. But I would prefer a simpler route, avoiding Premier if that was possible. Any suggestions, please. Ray Groome
  6. Another approach is to combine the 2 Shows by going to Project Options/ Advanced and selecting 'Run Slide Show on exit'. This will add the 2 shows together. Ray Groome
  7. I understand from one of Barry Beckham's videos that by ticking the box 'Convert tracks to MP3 for Exe' in the screen 'Project Options/ Audio' the file size will be reduced if you have shortened the the length of the sound track. I do not see this aspect covered in the excellent User Guide Online. Ray Groome
  8. Colin I can relate to most of your comments. My Photographic Society rents out several monitor calibration devices to members so that has helped to reduce some of the problems. Fortunately Adobe no longer includes Adobe Gamma in the Photoshop program (I think they dropped it about 8 years ago), but that used to trip us up sometimes. I found the only way I could check on the accuracy of the projector was to have a separate calibrated desktop monitor in the room with the projector (which was connected to a laptop that was running the projector profile). I then displayed on each device a selection of test images and adjusted the projector controls until I obtained the best correlation. I think a desktop monitor gives a more accurate standard than a separate laptop. But this is all very cumbersome and it would be very nice to have an accurate instrument to avoid such manual adjustments. Fortunately I have now managed to placate a (very good) critical member of the Society.
  9. Thanks for your comments Luc, That looks a good test image. Yes, I have set the projector in sRGB mode. Barry, I was hoping to find an instrument that would provide a simple solution, but it does not sound as though I will be lucky! If I delete the projector profile I will be left using the laptop profile, which will certainly give poor results on the projector. Unfortunately, adjusting brightness, (or gamma) and contrast does not solve all the problems. However, the Canon projector does allow me to adjust the hue and saturation of individual colours and with a lot of patience and luck I have managed to make significant improvements over the profiled settings. I note your warnings about the colour correction may not work for all images. I hope X-Rite and DataColor read our Forum! They will be disappointed at our conclusions. Ray Groome
  10. At my Photographic Society I am responsible for the operation of our Canon SX60 projector. (We use it in the digital mode using a HDMI cable) I have profiled it using a Spyder 3 instrument and was disappointed to find I had to make further significant adjustments to the projector (Brightness, Contrast and colours) based on visual observations to obtain reasonable results. I have also tried profiling it using a Colormunki Photo but that gave very bad results, which I abandoned. This is not a PTE problem as we are using other software for this application. I am seeking good accuracy as we use this projector for competition work. Any recommendations, please? Ray Groome
  11. If you are using Lightroom, you can gather the images for the slide show into a Collection, sorted under Capture date, and then rename the images during the Export process.(eg Sequence number followed by file name) Ray Groome
  12. I have experienced that effect when downloading pte projects- It was caused by omitting to 'Extract' the compressed projects.
  13. Barry Although it appears your problem is fairly common, I do not believe it is universal. I had similar problems 3 years ago, which prompted me to seek a higher specification computer (so I am sure there will be much better ones available today!) I am a frequent user of Lightroom and have not experienced the delayed responses you described since purchasing this computer. As described in the Adobe website there are dozens of things that can affect the optimum operation of the program, so I can appreciate the difficulty of solving your problem. I suggest the Luminous Landscape Forum might be a better source of knowledge for this topic. Ray Groome
  14. Peter, Thanks for that. Yes, I can now see that if I go to Project Options/Main/Show Settings and change from 'Close show after last slide' to 'Repeat show until Esc key is pressed', I can get the Esc key operate, but I did not really want the show to repeat by default. In Project Options/ Control I have 'Permit control of show using keyboard' ticked. But note that if I go to Project Options/Mouse and activate 'exit' for the Left mouse button, I can jump from Preview to the Main screen using the mouse. Not a keyboard solution, but I can live with that!
  15. Peter. I am using the latest version 7.5.9 with Windows 7. If I press the Preview button in the Main screen or in Objects and Animation screen the slide show commences from the beginning but does not jump back to the main screen on pressing Esc. The only way out for me is to press the End key and wait for the Main screen to appear- strange!
  16. A simple question! How can I escape from Preview mode and go back to the main screen? I used to do this by pressing Esc key.
  17. Wonderful!! Congratulations to you both. Ray Groome
  18. Whoops- I have just found the button at the button right hand corner. Sorry! Problem solved! Ray Groome
  19. I found it difficult to gain access to the Full Screen View of the Slide List. I eventually found it via F4, but it was far from obvious. There used to be a helpful button on the main screen that lead to it. The only reference I could find was under Settings, headed 'Toggle Full Screen' - with no reference to the Slide List. Am I missing a trick? Some clarification would be helpfull, please! Ray Groome
  20. I am afraid I do not know the answer to your question- but thanks for raising the topic as I would never have known that facility was available in Windows! Very useful. Ray Groome
  21. Peter Got it!! Thanks. I was highlighting the Transition and then selecting the Direction- which gave the problem. But when I tick the Transition and deselect the unwanted Directions it works. I fear this will confuse many users! Ray
  22. I am baffled by the new Project Options/ Transitions screen. If you tick the box next to 'Push' for example you get all the Push motions in turn, but if you try to select just one of the motions, it does not respond and it results in a sudden transition! I was hoping the new Guidance document would clarify-but it doesn't Please can you advise? Ray Groome
  23. I have Windows 7 64 bit and a Wacom Bamboo but have not been able to reproduce the effect you describe when using PTE 7.5. However I have had troubles with the computer crashing and it was not solved until I disconnected the Wacom, uninstalled the software and downloaded the latest driver. Ray Groome
  24. Barry I help to run Chester Photographic Society (and was instrumental in getting you to visit us a few years ago). We often need to encourage new members to join in the competitions and provide advice on what a judge is looking for. I thought your video would help in that process. I particularly liked the inclusion of some of your own images at the beginning, as this set the standard to aim for. This may not have been the original purpose of the video but it is a useful byproduct. Ray Groome
