  1. Ken, I had same problem with a project and with an old beta.

I am wondering if my PC didn't crash before the problem occured (and corrupted the PTE file ?).

If you try to replace the image concerned with an other one (using the little folder icon), what happens ?

In my case, the problem remained.

What is the name of the image used ?

In my case, the image was called "4.jpg" and I could fix the problem renaming it.

  2. It would really help more precise and quick settings of keypoints time if it would be possible to add a graduation (a ruler) on the timeline (in O/A window),

every 25% and 10% by example.

In the same spirit, I would like the position parameter of the keypoint to be displayed within the slide time (and not in the project time).

I would also like the waveform to be visible in this O/A window.

What do you think of the suggestions ?

I installed beta 5 and it works the same way as beta 4. I don't get an error message but it seems odd to me that PTE can tell me that a style needs 2 images and then later tell me that the same style needs 4 (or any other number) of images. If it said that it needed "a multiple of" 2 images that would make sense to me.

In my opinion, you raised a crucial point.

And the answer is... it depends on how the creator conceived his Style ;-)

Most of times, I think you're right, the number of main images to use will be a multiple of the minimum of images required.

But not always. For my Crystal Ball slide by example, the minimum is actually 2 images but it can be 3, 4, 5...etc.

You made me think the creator has to specify the number of slides that will be created if he doesn't want the final user to be lost after applying the Style.

In the case of the Crystal Ball :

    - 1 intro slide for the title

    - 1 slide per main image selected

    - 1 ending slide (black slide)

  4. Potwnc, I just checked the Style with V8 beta 5 and it works Ok for me, whatever the number of slides (=images) selected.

Unfortunately, I have no idea of what you could do wrong.

A Style is very easy to use. You only have to respect the minimum number of slides (=images) to apply it to. It's two in th case of the Crystal Ball Style.

Could you please try with beta 5 and post the error messages you get.

    Thanks.

it says that it needs 2 images and that I used 2 images.

When I try to apply it to 4 slides it says that it needs 4 images and that I used 4 images.

  5. Barry, a Style can be composed of 3 parts :

    1 - introduction

    2 - main part

    3 - ending

1 corresponds to the option "number of slides for beginning"

3 corresponds to the option "number of slides for the end"

The number of slides choosed for those parts by the creator of the Style is a fixed number whatever the end user makes.

On the opposite, 2 is a sequence of n slides that can be repeated (or not).

It will depend on the number of slides the end user will select for the Style.

You can play with my Crystal Ball Style to understand better how it works.

It has an intro sequence (Ball falling with title displayed) and an ending sequence (black slide).

The Main part is the Ball going through the screen from left to right and right to left. The main part is composed of two slides.

But if you wish, you can repeat this sequence 50 times if you choose 100 slides to be applied to.

For the demo above, I choosed to apply the Style to 4 slides.

Who the hell is this guy ?!? ;-)

I don't claim the idea of this suggestion.

Honestly, I really don't mind, I just wanted to point out the fact that the subject is old, still in progress and more complex that it seems

Read Igor's reply (I forgot it) that Jean Cyprien found out for us :

We had a long discussion in WnSoft on this question today. I didn't reply yet, but I was thinking on this problem for two weeks.

The problem in fact that we should carefully think how this change will affect to all combination of related parameters.

Also we have plans to add some improvements for this system (curve of path as a spline) in future versions.

Please give me more time to think and discuss this question. I'll reply soon.

  7. Barry, I completely agree and I hope you will have more success than I did with this suggestion.

I posted the idea several times in this section but Igor never answered.

As Lin said, I suspect there is a good reason to not change this default... very unfortunately.

And I would be very curious to know exactly why tongue.gif

  8. In my opinion, it depends on your audience, your subject, the length your slideshow, etc...

But I don't think you should make a slideshow only with those animations.

They have to be used carefully at the right moments.

On the other hand, personnaly, I can't watch a slideshow with still images more than 3 minutes, whatever the quality of the pictures.

    I find it quickly boring.

That's why it depends on personal tastes too smile.gif
