  1. I just thought of this as a solutiion for some of my slideshow clients. So many of them want me to use popular, current music on their slideshows. That's illegal in the USA. It would not be illegal, however, if they played their own music CD at the same time they watched their slideshow. I know this might sound silly to some folks, but it is a solution for those clients that want me to break the law and record the copyrighted music into their slideshows. Here's the way it would work: The client has the right to play any music he wants while he watches my slideshow in his home. He times the music and tells me how long it takes to play it. I produce the slideshow without music and the client can now play his CD alongside the slideshow and it will time out together. All I have to do is complete the slideshow (with any number of photos), set the time for the transitions to take place and order the show to run for the the requested amount of time. No timeline, no math. Is this a feasable thing to do? It seems like if you can automatically sync any number of images to any number of songs added to the show, without paying attention to how long a song is, you could make a way to sync it to that same length without music being added to the show! I know you can set the time for each image to remain on screen, and syncing using the timeline is very time consuming and would require a lot of math skills. This would be a very quick way to set a show's length precisely. Could this be done easily?
  2. Yes, Ken you're right. I'm just kind of swept up in this new information. The customer does want an mpeg and that's what I'll give him. Your WINAVI suggestion solved that and I have completed that mission. I kinda changed direction in learning some new stuff here about avi files and now I'm trying to understand them a little better. Don't know why my customer wants the mpeg... I never ask, I just provide. lt
  3. Okay Lin, that's good enough for me. I just finished installilng what I think I should have installed. In the * ACE Mega CodecS Pack 6.03 - Professional Edition * that I just downloaded. While installing, it asked me which codecs I wanted to install. You guys have said it should be the * Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V2 *. But the exact wording for this codec was not a choice in the list given. In it's absence, I choose the one called * Microsoft Windows Media MPEG-4 Video Decoder DMO 9.00.00.4487 *. I also checked the one called * Microsoft mpeg-4 video decompressor *. I'm just assuming I did the right thing here. lt
  4. Okay, Ken after posting, I downloaded winavi and gave it a try on a temp avi created by P2E and it worked. Thanks for that. I finally realized that trying to find the Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V2 download on that link you provided, was not necessary and that it was included on that downloadable pack ACE MEGA CODECS PACK 6.03. I'm downloading it now. I shouldn't read things under stress. Lin, you noted that the AVI is more compressed than the mpeg... Is that correct? I have always thought that the mpeg2 was more compact. If that is the case, all I need to do is make the permanent avi and be done with it. And the quality stays up there? That's great. Can't wait to try it out at work. Thanks to both of you for the help! oops! Just noticed that I missed Al's reply... Now I'm getting confused again. Al, your saying the AVI is not as compressed as the mpg. Now, is the mpg the same as an mpeg 2 (mpeg II) or what? Linn led me to believe that the mpeg is not as compressed as the mpeg II. lt
  5. Ken, thanks for the refrences and your reply. Unfortunately, the links provided had far more information and depth in them than I could absorb and the links within the messages, with links within them and even more links within those, led to total shutdown. All the numbers cofused my dyslexic brain to such an extent that I'm embarrassed at the level of my ignorance. I just need to convert the temorary AVI from P2E or use TMPGEnc or something, to come up with a simple mpeg2 file. You say winavi is what you use. Is that a program that (like Ulead or Nero) you can simply open and point to the temporary avi or what? I'm not a tinkerer and just can't stay with the conversations on technical aspects. No disrespect intended, I just need a simple way to acomplish this task. Thanks again. lt
  6. For some reason, I've lost track of how to make a simple mpeg 2 file from my P2E show. Or was this ever possible? For so long now, I've been making shows, converting to the temp video file and using Ulead to finish the show to a DVD burn. I seem to think that at one time, it was possible to make a simple Mpeg 2 (one file with video and sound included) to use as a clickable file, like the EXE. I have a customer that wants this. I have used TMPGEnc in the past to make a video file, but it makes two files, one is the video and one is the .wav. For some reason, I thought I could make a single file for this purpose. Am I going nuts or what? Anyone? larry
  7. Mr Thompson, you should take a closer look at your settings for the window and notice whether you have a little check mark in the appropriate box to stay within a window or eliminate it. You should never post a question before you finish the investigation! Sorry to bother you guys. Dumb human error prevails! lt
  8. When I make shows with version 4.48, on the computer screen, I get a title bar showing at the top when previewing or playing a finished show on the computer. This has done this since one of the upgrades in the past was bypassed, but luckily, we found that once the show was output as a temporary AVI, to prep for recording a DVD, the title bar did not show up and all is well. Today, i needed to output a show directly to video tape for a project and to my surprise, when I output the computer's playback to the tape, the title bar also showed up on the finished tape. We used to do this directly to video tapes before DVD became popular and we stopped once the demand fell off. Now, with this need for a videotape, I cannot get rid of this title bar. I'm talking about a standard Windows title bar. I just ran some older shows, created with some earlier versions and they worked fine. What's going on with this title bar thing. Is there a way to eliminate it? LT
  9. I couldn't either. The link took me to a PCMALL for a shopping spree. lt
  10. Lin, you have entirely too much time on your hands! lt
  11. Here's some more sources of music. http://www.gregmaroney.com/royalty_free.htm http://www.freeplaymusic.com/ http://magnatune.com/ http://www.mgmusic.ltd.uk/ http://www.music2hues.com/ http://www.uniquetracks.com/ http://www.shockwave-sound.com/ http://www.akmmusic.co.uk/catalogue.htm http://www.davenportmusic.com/yourchoice_cds.html Good luck! lt
  12. Okay, I tried your 3rd test on my computer at home: Description of computer: HP Pavilion a819n, 512RAM, 2.80GHZ, 1MB L2 cache, 800MHz Front Side Bus Graphics card: Intel® 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family RESULTS: 4 runs, no leaks or messages. However... I did this after downloading Lin's "hidebehind" show. ( http://www.lin-evans.net/p2e/hidebehind.zip ) I got the following message after running his show 3 times: Title of popup box: Allocation Leakage Memory Content: Total Pointers: 1671096 Peak Pointers: 839 Peak Mem: 68360856 bytes Leave Pointers: 1 (68 bytes) So, your test runs fine, Lin's show has leakage. Is this significant? lt
  13. Ran 3rd test 5 times 1 minute each run No errors or messages Using same Toshiba laptop with ATI Mobility Radeon board, Pent 4, 512 RAM, WinXP
  14. Ran the program 5 times: 1 minute each, no error messages or dialog boxes. Toshiba laptop with ATI Mibility Radeon board lt
  15. I agree with Tony. Although these images were so beautiful and captivating, I needed a break. For me, the "lost village" on the mountain was the most enjoyable, having just seen a traveling piece on the TRAVEL CHANNEL on TV featuring that part of Peru. Your images were every bit as great. I liked the eating shots as well and wonder... that little hampster in the corner... was he part of your meal? If a show creates a story through images, subtitles and narration, it can go long. If it is a lot of great photography shots with only music as a backing, 4-8 minute shows would be my choice to watch. Multiple shows, yes, that would do it. LumenLux, I envy you and your group... What an opportunity you had. I doubt that the photos come close to the eye opening experience of what your eyes saw in those mountains. Thanks for sharing. lt Oh, I'm one of the six voters... I don't understand why so many visitors would not vote. Very strange!
  16. Ran both shows. Totally flawless and smooth as glass! I'm totally impressed. My compute display is ran by: Intel® 82915G/GV/910GL Express chipset family (what ever that means) I'm ready to dive into that beta... Thanks millions Igor! Great work. Thank your team too. lt
  17. Igor should make it a requirement that in order to post a support message either here or to his support area, the poster must include his board ID along with the post. Or, make it a part of sign up. Everyone could be required to include basic system description for the sake of research. That would make it quite easy to track certain problems to certain boards and maintain a feel for what really exists out there amoung the crowd. lt
  18. Thanks for pointing that out Ron. I didn't relate the "X" and "Xpress".
  19. I have an ATI RADEON Xpress 200 Series (0x5954), whatever that means... Not on the list but it works without fault with latest version. lt
  20. A very nice set of bird photographs. I was impressed by your camera angles and framing. The action sequences were beautiful. Top notch photography. I'm curious, were all the photos taken in a captive space or did you go into the wild for some shots? Shoot on film or digital? My only suggestion would be to record a single narrated soundtrack and then insert images as they were needed. Senior citizens would enjoy it a bit more also. That said, I commend you two on your fine slide show from a pro photographer's point of view. lt
  21. From the photos on the timeline, right click on the photo you want to preview from. You will find that choice at the bottom of this list. That's assuming you are using one of the latest versions of PTE. lt
  22. Seems to me that simply using P2Exe instead of Powerpoint would do the trick. Both can be running at the same time so switching back and forth shouldn't be a problem, should it? I have used Powerpoint many times and for me, it's a propritary pain in the a$$. lt
  23. Oops, yes, UNSELFISHLY is the word I meant to type. I apologize for that uncomplimentary slip Thank you so much for bringing that to my attention. It really took the polish off my compliment. I have a bad habit of fingers getting ahead of the brain. lt
  24. Good job everyone. A very pleasant experience to watch. My only comment is concerning the credits at the end. I would have liked to see them on screen longer. I think the contributers deserve a few more seconds of attention. Thanks, lt
  25. Granot, your TEMPCD program appears to meet my needs. Played with it for a few minutes yesterday but didn't really suceed at more than getting your program to automatically prompt me to choose a place to save my show. Ran out of time. I've been pretty busy doing portraits (my photography/video business) back and forth between studio to parks. I guess that's the best choice from list of many. My needs are simple. I do proofing of all my portraiture and wedding photography using P2EXE. Having the CD automatically drop the file (or set of files) onto the HD of the client makes the presentation that much more appealing, especially if they are simply prompted to click and go. The more seamless the act of starting the show is, the better it is accepted by my client. Couple of notes about your TempCD program. Firstly, I love it. It's very convenient. It would be nice if there was an option for me to set TempCD to just drop the show onto the clients desktop instead of them being prompted to make a decision on where to save it. One more thing Granot. Please don't be offended by this, but the wording in the help message needs to be gramatically corrected for the local language where it is to be used. The language barrier is not a problem for me but interpretation can be tricky and perhaps you could make that text message editable. Then, the language could be corrected so my local english speaking clients don't wonder about my grammatic correctness. Finally, I want to also commend you for your excellant work and helpful programs. You are an inspiration to those you help so selfishly. Keep up the good work. lt
