  1. Hello Bob, First Question. The DVD never looks as sharp on the monitor as a PTE .exe slide show. However it will look much better when viewed on the TV. Second Question. Is it possible that in Video Builder you do not have NTSC selected in Project Options>TV System (I think the default is PAL)? Apart from this, another possibilty maybe the quality/type +R or -R/manufacture of your DVD blanks, etc. Limey.
  2. David, Instead of going through the whole show and modifying each slide, try the following: Project Options / Screen / Additional Options. Set % of slide to show main image to less than 100% until your comments are inside the TV safe Zone (try 95%), don't forget to also select "set for existing slides" Regards, Limey
  3. I get same results as Colin. No jumps or hesitation with the dowloaded sequence on nVidia 7300 LE video card. Regards, Limey.
  4. From Dell Canada site. NVidia GEforce 8400 is an option on Vostro 1510. Limey Vostro_1510.doc
  5. John, Having created an ISO file. Open Video Builder again. From top menu select 'File', from dropdown menu select "Burn ISO image...". In the resulting Pop-up Menu just open the file you want to burn etc. That's it. Best Regards, Limey.
  6. Hello Barb, I had a similar problem some time ago. In Video Builder "Project Options" try changing "Audio Format" to LPCM, (I think the default is MPEG Audio). This fixed my problem of choppy music, hope it helps with yours. Regards, Limey
  7. Igor Many of us are producing DVDs because we wish to distribute slide shows, with all the latest PZR functions, to an audience that may not have a PC with a suitable video card, and in some cases, not have a PC. I think that stu's suggestion should be given serious consideration. Regards, Limey.
  8. Jean & Peter, For what you are looking for, you must choose 'Synchronise Slides and Music.' With a non-synchronised show, the music plays independently of the slide timing. Regards, Limey.
  9. rogereld, The 'end' and 'home' keys are "Windows" functions, not specific tp PTE. However I agree that it would be good to have the capability in the 'navigation bar' functions. Regards, Limey.
  10. nobeefstu >>* Limey, looks like we had the same thought<< As my father used to say, "Great minds think alike". As my mother used to say, "Fools seldom differ". Cheers, Limey.
  11. Hi, The graphics card you have is an absolutely bottom-of-the-line integrated card. I found the following info. on this site: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Comparison-of...ards.130.0.html >>>VIA Chrome9 HC small and light The integrated graphic card (shared memory) VIA Chrome9 HC IGP is found on the VN896 chipset for notebooks. The integrated graphic processor (IGP) offers DirectX 9.0 3D acceleration and a video accelerator for the MPEG playback. Further adaptive De-Interlacing and Video deblocking are supported up to a resolution of 1080i. The performance of VIA Chrome 9 HC IGP is only the halve (sic) of current competitors of integrated graphic cards (Intel GMA 950, AMD XPress 1100) and even is overextended with the DirectX 9.0 functions of the Aero interface (of Windows Vista) (usage possible, but only with motion interruptions). Core Icon 0 MHz, 0 / 0 Pixel- / Vertexshader | Memory Icon 0 MHz Unsuitable for Games - These graphics cards for notebooks are not suitable for games. If they run, they may run with graphical errors and very low frame rates. For gamers these chips are not suitable! Office and internet tasks are, to the contrary, no problem for these GPUs.<<< So, not good enough to run PTE 5.1, but OK for PTE 4.xx. Regards, Limey.
  12. Hello Marian, Go to the bottom half of the 'Comments' page. 'Set Text Comment for New Slide' Select 'Insert Template' and the drop down list will give you your choices. Finish by selecting 'Set for existing slides' I think that should do it. Regards, Limey.
  13. Terry, I suggest you download the "PTE User Guide". Open your project in PTE and press F1, it will give you a link to the PDF to read or for download. Regards, Limey.
  14. Hello Bob, The feature you are looking for is found in 'Project Options' 'Comments'. Select 'Insert Template' and select 'Picture Name' from drop down list. Then select 'Set for Existing Slides'. Regards, Limey.
  15. Possible bug with VideoBuilder menu customizing. When modifying previously customized menu, (changing menu item properties etc), each action produces an error message. "Access Violation at address 004E3F57 in module "VideoBuilder.exe". Write of Address 00000004." When moving a menu item frame, dragging with mouse, the same message appears but cannot be reset. Using beta 7.
  16. Hello Waveski, The feature you are looking for was introduced in PTE Version 5.1 beta 1. We are now at beta 4. The current beta can be downloaded from the 'Pictures to Exe' section of this forum without overwriting your Version 5.0. Then follow the insructions given by Lin Evans in the post before yours in this forum section. Hope this helps, Limey.
  17. Igor, Menu music does not loop, "freezes" Menu after playing once. Regards, Limey.
  18. Igor, Everything O.K. in Beta 3. Thanks. Not a Bug, just an observation:- In VideoBuilder Menu, if "Menu Duration" only applies to "Animated" menu, should it be greyed out for non-Animated menu? I have noticed that if this box is selected (accident or default??) with non-Animated menu it will stop the music associated with the menu after 'x' seconds. (This may have been fixed in latest Beta). Observation #2. With my DVD/TV player, if the menu music is allowed to end before a menu selection is made, the menu "freezes" until refreshed by the menu button on the remote control. Playing the DVD on the computer does not show this behaviour. Since Menu music will probably always be of short duration, could it be "Looped"? Regards, Limey.
  19. Problem with VideoBuilder Menu music. Cannot add music to menu. Background Image .jpg with buttons. One Page No animation Music selected for menu is 30 second .mp3. Compilation O.K. until "Converting Menu to MPEG2" Error Message: "File not found C:\ xxxxxx/Temp/Menu0.mpg" In Temp file there are two relevant files; Menu0.wav and Menu0.m2v, no Menu0.mpg. Compilation continues until Pop-Up "author.exe needs to close". No problem on same project without music. O/S Win XP. Has anybody else had problems adding music to DVD menu? Regards, Limey.
  20. Carol, O.K. I understand your dilemma now. I'm afraid the only solution I can think of is to discard your Photoshop menu, start again and re-do your menu by adding both Text and Buttons in Object Editor. This way you can group Text and Button objects together. At different resolutions they will still change location on the background, but Text and Buttons will stay aligned. I can't think of a more elegant solution I'm afraid. Regards, Limey.
  21. Hello Carol, I'm not quite sure what you are trying to do with your Button locations. If you are trying to place them in precise positions on the Photoshopped background, you will lose the locations at any other resolution. Another tool you can use in the Object Editor window is in the top left corner "Preview In". This allows you to see how your buttons will look at the resolution of your son's monitor, without causing family strife. Limey.
  22. Hi Rooskidiver, Version 4.48 Object Editor. Select all of your Buttons, (Shift, Left Click). Then select "Group" from the upper bar. This will ensure that your buttons stay in the same relative position to each other at any screen resolution. Hope this helps. Regards, Limey.
  23. Yes, a previous 2+ hour compilation is now about 1 hour. It's a great improvement. Still cannot burn ISO image in Video Builder. This has been mentioned previously with Version 5.0. Select "Burn ISO Image" from "File Menu" In Burn ISO Image pop-up window, select "Burn ISO image" Progress bar appears showing "0%", immediately ejects the DVD from the burner, "0%" changes to "Completed". Perhaps somebody else can confirm this behaviour, I'm using Win XP. No problems burning from Compilation widow. Regards, Limey.
  24. Hello Brit Chick, Have you inadvertantly put a CD R in your burner instead of a DVD R? Regards, Limey.
