  1. Thanks Harold Understand your concern. In the meantime, I guess it is a case of compromising and the maker adjusting the timing factors to prevent the problem. PTE is still the best software I have seen for AV shows, but it can't be all things to all people right away.
  2. Dana: See recent discussion re this at http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index...ct=ST&f=2&t=399 (The Project has changed)
  3. Colin There are some autorun utilities available at the beechbrook cottage site. As well there have been several fairly recent threads that talked about autorun CD's, if you did a quick search (search feature of the forum) I think you can find what you are looking for.
  4. Rudie: Could you please explain what you mean re the quote and how it is achieved within PTE Thx
  5. Harold: Not sure I agree with you this time. The transition time vs duration time conflict is the problem of the person setting up the slide show. A message about that might be nice (but only after we get the ability to change the transition type from the TIMELINE In the meantime the grey lines on the TIMELINE will tell you if you have a problem. The "show-maker" should fix any conflicts themselves, I don't want PTE arbitraily deciding what I wanted vs what I entered
  6. Haroldb Once again I second your comments The "project" nomenclature is confusing. (Aspects of this were discussed several weeks back on the forum.) But the ability to work with transtion types from the timeline is much more important a "fix".
  7. Guess I have been fortunate, I use Musicmatch JukeBox 7.10 to record all the music that I use from CD's. I have other software that will do it too, but I seem to be most comfortable with Jukebox. I fortunately have not had Alrobin's problem
  8. Barb: Assuming it is not a function of the transitions (You did check that there are spaces of white between the grey lines on the TIMELINE ?) let me try to suggest a couple of other things here to try to figure it out. (I might be grasping at straws ) 1. Take another piece of music the same length and add it to the program, but remove the original piece before saving a new pte.exe file. Any difference ?? 2. Make up a sample image, less that 200kb and substitute it, with the same settings, for the images already in the show, just add it "x" times remove the original images ("X" in number) What happens ? As I say, I am grasping at straws here.
  9. DonplusBarb: (Are we talking to Don or Barb ??) Welcome to PTE. Many of us think it is the greatest thing since sliced bread !! That is the first time I have heard of this issue. I assume the music plays fine out of PTE, in another software. What image sizes are you using ? Many of us try to keep the image sizes to about 100-200kb. Is the slowing down and speeding up occurring at the time of a transition ? If so are the transition overlapping. (See gray markings on the TIMELINE or use Alrobin's ADJUSTOR) Let us know and someone will figure it out for you.
  10. Isaccreek: The time is shown as 1500 etc as these are milliseconds. It took me a short time to get used to it, but it lets you make changes to customized shows EXACTLY where you want it. When you use PROJECT OPTIONS - SYNCHRONIZE TO MUSIC - CUSTOM SYNCHRONIZE you will see where this very nice feature comes into play. Particularly when you try to be EXACT on transitions At this point PTE does not support animation in the pics (If I understand what you mean), there was a debate about "panning and zooming" about two weeks ago in the forum.
  11. Igor: Once again, nicely done !!! Thanks Possible "nuisance bug" in 4.05 I was setting up a CUSTOM SYNCH show and set the EFFECTS on PROJECT OPTIONS to "QUICK" so for starters they would all "cut". When I was inserting my TRANSITION POINTS, they all showed at 1500ms on the TIMELINE. So I went back to EFFECTS and changed to DURATION EFFECT to 0, went back to insert TRANSTIOIN POINTS again and the grey indicators on the TIMELINE had properly disappeared. No big deal, but it threw me off for a moment. Maybe in 4.06 you could have the DURATION EFFECT default to 0 when the QUICK transition is applied as a "default" ? Thx
  12. Thx Guido I keep forgetting about that one !! (If we had separate topics, or FAQ/Tips on this forum we could find this stuff quicker )
  13. Truelight Get a copy of Alrobin's ADJUSTOR. I think it will give you what you want Look for the post with the red heart. http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index...ct=ST&f=2&t=374
  14. Cathy: Welcome to PTE It sounds to me like you have a piece of music that is longer than the time you want to leave your images up for. You have to adjust the music length outside of PTE. As has been mentioned many times recently on the forum (before you joined us ) you should use either Acoustica MP3 Audio Mixer: inexpensive, simple to use, will do most things for you, or COOL EDIT (get the studio plug in too) which costs more, but has lots of bells and whistles and can do the fade out for you at the press of a button. Both are available as downloads from the net. Just GOOGLE their names.
  15. see my reply a few spots above I meant to say: "I am not sure if ACCESS (MS's database program) will accept thumbnails." Sorry about that. ACCESS does, I am told accept thumbnails.
  16. I use a database to track my images. I use APPROACH 97 in the LOTSU SMARTSUITE. I have 25,000, plus or minus, slides that are indexed by number, but the database has 20-25 fields that are fully searchable. Now that I have many of the slides scanned, I wish I had started with a database that allows thumbnails, but they did not exist when I started. But I search for images using any keywords I want, and then I can check on the database to see if they are scanned or not. Then I know to look in the computer for the image, or my slide books. I am not sure if EXCEL (MS's database program) will accept thumbnails. I am also not sure it is as flexible in searching as APPROACH is. From a quick look I had at it did not seem to be as flexible I have a friend who uses MULTIMEDIA XPLORER which is a database using thumbnails. (http://www.moonsoftware.com) Looks like they are giving it away now !!! Hope that helps
  17. Alrobin I agree with you. I was frustrated voting last night !!!!
  18. ThumbsPlus, a software available via the web can do most of what you ask very smoothly, except the numbering automatically. You have to re-number each one individually. Irfanview, a free download, might be able to help you with the auto-renumbering, but maybe not as I expect it would re-number in the same sequence as the existing. BUT, and this time it is a GOOD "but" , Alrobin is working on a beta EXCEL program that is specifically designed to work with PTE that has a "dark table" that takes the images within a PTE show, lets you re-sequence your images without changing their names, then drops them back into your PTE show in the new sequence. See Alrobin's post of Feb 23 at 4:42pm (EST) the one with the red heart next to it.
  19. Here are two cents worth.... I wouldn't like to see a new users group as I suspect some the senior etc users might not bother looking at it and the new users are going to miss out on the great advice that this forum provides. So I would like to see: 1. Wish list for future updates. 2. sound issues (creating sound files, not working in pte etc) 3. image issues (creating images, sizing, transitions etc) 4. program workings (how do I get Editor Objects to work, How do I do such and such,) 5. Whatever else
  20. yguy: One way to do that would be to have predetermined sequences such as slide 10 to 20, another 15 to 30, slide 5 through 90 etc etc.(whatever slides you want in each sequence) Set up each sequence as a pte.exe file on its own with its own music. Make your first image a one image show with buttons (OBJECT EDITOR) on the first image, which when clicked on, would run the appropriate pte.exe file as set up through properties on the buttons. Hope that is somewhat clear
  21. Thanks Guido Another option for me to look at
  22. Thanks Ian That is a possible solution, but I sometimes need them to line up with a particular portion of an image
  23. Not being familiar with the coding and any complications/impossibilties I might be asking for too much, but it would be very nice if the extremely useful OBJECT EDITORS were not screen resolution sensitive. While the OBJECT EDITORS screen allows us to check the layout using various screen resolutions, the "problem" I have with the OBJECT EDITORS is that some of my PTE productions are put on CDs and sent to people who are not computer savvy. I want the show to look right when they view it. That is no problem if there are no OBJECT EDITORS within the show. But if I have used them, then depending what resolution the viewer's screen is set for, they might "line up" where I wanted them, or might not. Lack of line-up can cause confusion with the viewer depending on how the OBJECT EDITORS were used or just present a messy view . I know I can tell them at what resolution to set their screen, but how many people really bother to read instructions when they get a CD ? And the less computer savvy will not understand what I am talking about. It would be great if I could have "idiot proof" PTE productions that are not sensitive to screen resolution.
  24. Welcome aboard rwav !!!! One way to do what you want is to add "silence" to the front end of your music. The slides will start with the music, but the music will be silent.
  25. Rod Sorry you feel that way. Obviously a number of people strongly disagree with you. I suggest we drop the matter, as this could get nastier than it already is, and get on with helping each other and improving PTE.
