It might be easier to use Photoshop and save as PNG to use in PTE? DG

Roger, Would it be fair to say that the Lightbox has never been away? It is the icon that went walkabout. DG

Ann, Have you considered the possibility of a compatibility issue between your new burner and your "old" DVD player? Also the quality of the DVDs you are using together with the above might be an issue. Just because a certain brand has always worked before doesn't mean............ I would have thought that a codec problem would result in a complete failure to play and not in the "stopping half way through" issue? Like you I have always used third party burning software to burn DVDs from PTE shows. Up to now ROXIO has served me well. Having migrated to a new W7 PC I found that the supplied free version of Power To Go did the job very well. My method: Let PTE make the ISO file. I have always thought that having successfully done this any further problems would be attributable to outside influences and not to PTE. Someone is bound to jump in quickly if my assumption is wrong! I have always used completely default settings in PTE and never worried about codecs etc. Just double clicking on the ISO has always brought up the correct module of the burning software which I had installed and now uses Power to Go in the same way as it used Roxio in the past. There are softwares available which will play ISO files on the computer if you want to be absolutely sure that you have no issues with PTE. For my own use I produce MPEG4 files to play via USB on my TV but there are always occasions when you want to give DVDs to others. I had to do this recently and the above method worked fine using Sony DVDs on a Sony DVD Player. DG

Put a TEMPLATE of the first few slides up so that someone can analyse it? DG

Can you open the mp3 in Audacity or similar and save as a different name and then try that? add to a new project with no slides. Is it a downloaded mp3? I think that "personal playlist" refers to the music. could be wrong! DG

......or use the YouTube Downloader? DG

It is possible that Igor has listened to a previous, similar request. DG

Snapcam, You must have some sort of persecution complex? Nothing that I said here was directed in any way, shape or form at you!!!!!! Just because my post followed yours it was not necesarily in answer to yours. Please read again and if you are still of the opinion that I was getting at you (when in fact I was supporting both yourself and Maureen) then I will delete all of my posts in this thread. I might do it anyway. Best wishes, DG

I suppose my point is that since this forum doesn't differentiate between "Slideshows with music" and "AV" then all this prattling on about whether a particular presentation is one or the other is totally irrelevant? If the people to whom it matters so much were to really care then I think that they should petition for a seperate "AV" section, but that would be a little "elitist" don't you think? I just enjoy them and it matters not if they have narration or not. Slideshows vs Documentaries. IMHO and all that - other opinions are available. DG
-
.....and isn't this section of the forum headed "Slideshows" and not "AV"? DG

Ken, Not an illusion - that's what I intended - look at this one. SPRING.zip Re Higgs Boson - that looks too much like SNOW - that's Lin's territory. DG

I played with this for a while - it might give someone ideas. Out of Control.zip DG

Does the RPS disqualify a "Slideshow with Music" from its AV Competitions because there is no narrative? DG

Anthony, If you have your "Set Graphical Editor" (View> Advanced Options) set to "Default" it will behave as you describe? DG

Anthony, XP; Vista; W7? DG

SOUNDS GOOD!!! DG

Anthony, If I have read your post correctly then I don't think that what you say is necessary. I have my desktop etc images set to open in NX2 but I can still set PTE's Ctrl + W to open an image in Pixbuilder or CSx or whatever. DG

This one is called "The Ozone Layer". DG Ozone Layer.zip

Mick, That is the problem!! Our hobby and our software is 2 dimensional and we are trying to simulate 3 dimensionality with the tools that Igor has supplied. If we could give an image or an object "depth" then we would not need all of the trickery that has gone into some of these demonstrations / illusions. Imagine a PIPE which has first four sides along its length - like a square drainpipe. Then imagine 4, 8, 16 etc sides and keep going until the pipe is a round pipe. We could "tear" an image into 4 strips and put one on each face of the square pipe. We could do the same with the pipes with 8, 16 etc faces but to be able to wrap the image around a round pipe we would need an infinite number of impossibly thin strips to create the illusion of an image wrapped around a pipe. With a sphere it is even worse because from North Pole to South Pole the strip required is pointed at each end and has width at the equator. Even then it could not be wrapped around the sphere from North to South. DG

I "knew" that was coming! Within the context of this thread that's great. Before it started I expected the Eagle to be going around the wireframe. Any new "Wireframe" ideas? How about a PIPE? DG PIPE.zip

Whilst "Wireframes" are not AVs in the accepted sense, there has been a little interest lately. Can I suggest that anyone with a "wireframe" that they want to share post it in this thread? I'll kick it off with "Wheels Within Wheels". Three Spheres - a blue one inside a green one inside a red one - all moving in different directions. Three Looping Slides repeated. Use the left and right arrows to move forward and back - escape to abort. It will give us something to occupy us until August 1. DG Wheels Within Wheel.zip

Maureen, Notwithstanding what I wrote in the PM, I noticed this morning that the last slide - the zoom - is showing the left hand edge right at the end - minor point. DG
