  1. Newer versions are not backwards compatible because of new features. If you ignore the message and open anyway the earlier version will open the PTE but any newer features will not be applicable. Make sure that you have the current latest v7.0.4 and use that exclusively - there is little point in using v5 or v6. DG
  2. Try these: http://www.fotografie.fr/ DG
  3. Superb!! You read my mind!! No longer do we have to make multiple versions of images for basic effects. A great refinement would be to make it possible to apply it to a Keyframe rather than globally. Not as good as Nik Silver EFX Pro but great for passing effects. DG P.S. Any more that you have not told us about??????
  4. Bob, If you mean what I THINK you mean - no you can't. You have to change the Image file in O&A>Properties>Picture for each slide. Sorry. DG
  5. Thanks for the feedback. Here's the 1920x1080 BWB Frame (along with the original 1620x1080 Frame). Daves BWB Frame.zip DG
  6. Here's a Settings File that I created some time ago when I started to wean myself off dependence on the Adobe product. It puts a 2 pixel BWB line around a 1620x1080 image for use in PTE. If anyone finds it useful I can also post the 1920x1080 version. Unfortunately, in NX 2.3, it is not possible to create a single version which works for all resolutions. Each resolution requires its own settings file. I can live with this. Unzip the Settings File to a folder on your hard drive - Load into NX2.3 from that location and save the three Colorize Edit Steps as a single Settings File to your Settings File Folder. It is possible to change the Black-White-Black to any other colours as required. Daves BWB Frame.zip DG
  7. Jeff, You have done an excellent job of integrating the Video and stills in an almost seemless manner. I'll look at that again!! To be hyper-critical some of the skies have pixellation and the silhouettes have excessive (unnecessary) halos - all fixable. I'll still watch it again!! DG
  8. Bob, If you were to save a Template which included slide and object timings and then re-opened it, what you could then do is change the Image (O&A Properties) and Object to something new. You could save a Template with just one slide and copy and paste that slide as many times as needed. But you would just use each slide as a Template for your new image/object. Jill's method is probably easier but not the only way to do it. That's the beauty of PTE. DG
  9. O&A> Properties> Mute Audio for the one you want silent. DG
  10. Frans, Download and extract the Template Folder here: White Mask.zip DG
  11. What about a White PNG Rectangle with a cutout inside the mask above (but linked to) the image. The size of the cutout could be manipulated to the desired frame size? DG
  12. Ken, Resolution and Aspect Ratio are ESSENTIALS. Running time is important. File size is evident when initiating the download. Number of slides is irrelevant but nice to know. DG
  13. Resolution of Image(s) in the 48 second slide? Resolution and AR of project? Is there a music file attached to this slide? DG
  14. O&A - Size of Parent etc - Click on SIZE Use arrows to move image to left or right. Duplicate Keyframe. Use arrows to move image to left or right. Click on play. Why 1204x768? That's an odd Project Size? DG
  15. Ray, I seem to remember coming across this setting a while ago on my Sony HD TV. Glad that you have solved it!! DG
  16. KFSD: There was a HUGE thread on KEEP FULL SLIDE DURATION. Before it was half way through the abreviation KFSD was adopted by most. I apologise for not using the full phrase - I thought that it was a universally accepted abreviation amongst those who are regulars. DG
  17. Attached are a Template of my settings for a 1920x1080 Project for HD TV and the corresponding MPEG4 made from it. The MPEG is a perfect fit on my HD TV with the BWB line showing all around. DG 1920x1080 TV TEST PT.zip 1920x1080 TV TEST MP4.zip
  18. ray couple of ways of applying stroke line.in ps make sure stroke line is inside.in pte as a global png frame. as above.if pc monitor is hd then you should see same symptoms there. is pc monitor 16:10?please give a little more detail or pm me template in zip folder without images.if your pte setup is right have you altered your tv geometry at any time?dg
  19. Gary, There was similar problem when KFSD was introduced and Igor was unable to set a zero parameter - it could be that it has to be a POSITIVE value. He got around the KFSD problem another way. In any case, if you press the CROSSFADING button (properly working) surely your logical intention is to set a positive value. Why then, does making its default zero help? DG
  20. Could I make a suggestion? I think that the problem, as Gary says, is with the CROSSFADING Button and not with the Project Options>Audio Clip Properties. Furthermore I think that It could be either a bug or a fundamental logic problem. When CROSSFADING is clicked then BOTH MP3 files are selected (if there are 3 MP3 files 3 are selected) and there is no way to remove the first MP3 from the process. I suggest that Igor be advised of this and await his thoughts - mine are that the CROSSFADING button needs another look. It should not set a FADE IN on the first MP3 - even though it can be removed manually afterwards. DG
  21. Geoff, I made a 1920x1080 template for this and will PM it to you later if you want? My main concern has always been that there should absolutely NO modification of the submitted images of any kind. DEFINITELY no interpolation! All images in sRGB up to 1920x1080. Basically, I have an index at the front end with links to every Image in the Comp (default number is 60). Links to Image 01, Image 02 etc up to 60. That way it's the same for every comp. When the mouse is brought into play on any image I click on the HOME icon to go to the Index. I then click on the link to the Image he wants. When he has seen that - HOME icon - next Image number link. During the Comp the right arrow takes you through each image passing through a black blank slide - no third images. It works smoothly, quickly and efficiently (when I'm on the mouse). On your other point the avoidance of shimmering is helped enormously by selectively sharpening. Like you, uncompressed RAW only - 25Mb/12Mp files. Remove in camera sharpening - apply a mixture of HP and USM SELECTIVELY to suit the image. Rarely are two images the same so batching is out. Skies and foliage are NEVER sharpened. DG
  22. Karl, What Picture Control are you using in-camera and what level of sharpening is set within that Picture Control? VNX reads the in-camera sharpening and will pass it on to the JPEG. If it is set to high it might have an effect. If you don't want the in-camera sharpening applied to the JPEG you have to select the PC in VNX2 and zero it. IMHO sharpening should be applied selectively and not globally. DG
  23. Geoff, I do all of my sharpening selectively (very important), in my RAW converter of choice using presets which suit the intended application. Applying the same sharpening settings before and after re-sizing will produce different results so, contrary to what I have always been told that I should do, I sharpen before re-sizing using settings which produce an acceptable result after re-sizing has taken place. Mostly, my JPEGs are used in PTE firstly in PTE shows and secondly for Competitions. I don't know of anyone who is NOT using PTE for Competition in our locality so if it works in PTE on my 1920x1200 screen it will work when projected at 1920x1080 in a competition. DG
  24. You know, I think that we all owe an apology to JEB? In his excellent FAQ/Tutorial on Audio in V6.5 ( ) he covers the whole topic adequately. Is the FAQ / Tutorials section needed? I don't see many people suggesting that it be used in response to a question. (Ken does). I propose that a standard question be introduced: "Does the information in Tutorial XYZ not cover your query?" DG
