  1. Paul,

One of our talented French users has created a Bezier Curve software which is designed to be used with PTE to create Bezier Curves. It works quite well and I "think" derives much of its function from Excel or a similar software and creates multitudes of closely spaced keyframes which are automatically transferred to the PTE project allowing some really great effects to be realized. Create a folder under Program Files in Windows called Bezier Curve and extract the two files inside. Make a shortcut for the exe file and give it a try.

  2. Wow!!! Those are FAST encodings!  I received an email from B&H this morning and my card has shipped so I'm expecting it Monday or Tuesday. It will be fun getting it installed - I'm hoping I don't have to replace the power supply, but it will make encoding large videos fun again. My present nVidia card is just a bit long in the tooth and PTE doesn't find it capable of GPU rendering so the new one will be perfect.

Thanks for the info on the 1660 - it made my choice an easy one.

  3. Hi Aleina,

Once the MacIntosh version is launched I think the developers will look into implementing Alpha Channel support for more modern codecs such as for MOV, etc. The old Alpha Channel RGB AVI is getting a bit long in the tooth but it still works perfectly and is still supported by a number of programs such as BluffTitler. I bought one of the last ParticleIllusion products before they sold to Boris FX and I haven't yet been able to successfully install the HuffyUV codec on my Win 8.1 but it still works well on my old XP.  Hopefully, I'll eventually get it installed on my 8.1 system but ParticleIllusion still lets me make Alpha Channel  compressed AVI's.  By the way you can run the more modern versions of Alpha Channel Video on PTE as long as you can get an Alpha Matt file and use it as a video mask just as with Proshow Producer.

  4. I updated this to a 4K 60 fps version and posted on YouTube - embedded below. I don't know if YouTube will eventually offer it as a 4K 60fps video but PTE AV Studio 10 Pro does a wonderful job with 4K video as I discovered when I installed a new nVidia GTX 1660 Ti GPU with 6 Gig RAM and a 28" Samsung 4K display on my Win 8.1 system. So far I'm only seeing 1080 p on the YouTube link, but hopefully it will eventually be available in 4K for those with the bandwidth and hardware to support it.

  5. Hi Aleina,

Christmas at my own home is sadly these days just another normal day. I live alone except for my sweet Service Dog Ruby.  When my late wife Sherry was alive we had holly, fruit and usually a real tree for Christmas. Sherry made fruit cakes and we had the wonderful aroma of a wood fire in our wood burning stove. The memories are very pleasant. This Christmas Ruby pup and I are invited to a friend's ranch about 160 miles south and it will once again seem like Christmas. Here's wishing you and your family a wonderful and peaceful Christmas holiday!

  6. You can publish to virtually ANY storage device which plugs into your computer. USB Flash drives are like any other hard drive or flash drive so you can direct your video or executable or digitally signed exe output directly to the device. PTE AV Studio 10 is a full 64 bit software and can output huge videos in up to and including 4K. PTE AV Studio 10 also has full hardware rendering so if you have a modern video card with sufficient RAM the video rendering is FAST.

Yes, You can publish your videos directly to Youtube with PTE 9 but not directly with PTE AV Studio 10 Pro. It takes only seconds to upload your HTML 5 or MP4 videos to Youtube by just logging on and going to your channel there.

  7. New text effects will certainly be welcome, but it's entirely possible right now to do things like fly-in, fly-out, and even things which can NOT be done with other presentation slideshow software such as wavy text, text circling objects, bending text, falling text, 3D Text on Cube, etc. Mur and Dave G have created some great text effects and several of us have created styles to make this easy. Below are some examples:

  8. Hi Berny,

Igor, Jean-Cyprien - yes, and in the text instructions inside both of Jean Cyprien's styles I modified I explain that the image must be 3/2 aspect ratio, but sadly there is no way to put this into all the different languages which users may have as their native tongue so I will go back and modify these to make certain that 0.6665 aspect crop is enabled so this can't happen again. Great tip for the reminder Igor!!

This reminds me to ask if in a future version it would be possible to add an "edit" feature for slide styles. Having this would make it much easier to make changes without trying to copy and remember all the text information, precise style name, etc.?

  9. Hi,

It looks like there is sufficient time - if you want to zip the project and post a link, I'll take a look and see if I can determine where the problem might be.  Use the "File create backup in zip" feature and post the zip file. If you don't want to make the zip public, you can email me the link at "data2@lpbroadband.net"

  10. Hi Jienense,

What is the start time and duration of the video?  If you click on the video on the bottom right of your screen, in the Object's List then you can see what the start time and duration are set for for the video. If they are not zero and at least five seconds, the video will stop before your 5 second time has expired.

  11. Tom,

Your post got me excited about a new video card for my 8.1 system. My present card, a then mid-range  nVidia GTX 760 could not use GPU rendering when I created a PTE video so I ordered what I think is about the same card as you did. I ordered an MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Ti VENTUS XS with 6 gig which should be plenty of power to run PTE optimally. It apparently has the same feature of killing the fans until needed so should be nice and quiet when running animations in PTE shows.

I know the 1660 is perhaps a little faster than the 1650 but I hope everything else is as compatible with PTE and my ASUS motherboard.

  12. Here ya go Tom.  Sorry I couldn't find a more suitable image with a darker background to make it easier to see the smaller flakes in quick order. I purposely left a slight error on the overlay so you can see the smaller flakes going behind. Just look above her shoulder on the right side of the screen and you'll see smaller flakes going behind with the larger flakes in front. I've actually been doing it this way on many of my snow scenes for years...

Of course this is with a still image, not with a video. To do this with a video in PTE you would need chroma key extraction so you could run a green screen duplicate on top of a regular video of the same subject. I suspect this is how Davinci does this internally. Hopefully Igor will implement the newer alpha channel video modes soon and then it would be much easier. Most video companies which produce alpha channel videos also will give you an alpha mat which can be used for this purpose with PTE. It's easy enough to play the alpha matt as the video mask.

  13. Hi Tom,

Actually, it's easy to do in PTE. Just load my snowfall style(s) and if it's not already done, put one of the PNG snowfall files behind a PNG cut-out of the main character. Just go into Photoshop and create a PNG of the main subject and have the small flakes fall behind the PNG and of course above the main image. The PNG overlay  perfectly coinciding with the main image allows the layering needed. I often use three "sizes" of snowflakes. You can use the same snow PNG file and just adjust the zoom to vary the size of the snowflakes..

Give me a few minutes and I'll post an example... I generally use three sizes of snowflakes when I create a snow scene. It's not easy to make a style of flakes falling behind a subject because the overlay can't be created automatically in PTE. Neither would it be possible to make a mask to do this automatically because it would depend on the subject. The easiest way is to create the overlay and add it to the snow PNG's in the proper place. Obviously one would want to name the snow size PNG's appropriately...

  14. Hi Folks,

With Christmas coming on and in the parts of the world which have winter during Christmas, many like images and such with snow. I have created a multitude of snowglobe styles and some falling snow styles which make it quick and painless to drop in a critter or picture inside a snowglobe. This is a demo of some of my globes and below I'll post the links to the styles for download. Sorry about my voice - it's still difficult to clearly enunciate and pronounce certain sounds so bear with me on this.

Sorry - had two "example" files - one capitalized and one not with different content. I renamed and the above original link should give the correct one now...
