Hi Bert,
Could you possibly be a little more specific? You can display the name of any image in your show by using the "Comment" "Insert Text Template" then choosing from the list what specifically you want. As an example "Picture Name" "Picture Name With Extension," etc. Like below. Is this what you mean?

Just a clarification. Where are you reading the time for the slides which are incorrect. From the slide list in terms of AB, from the "Slide Options" "Main Tab" "Slide Duration," or from Objects and Animation time "Full Duration" - just wondering it the transition times were being considered?

Did you watch the video I made for you after you posted the video of your show? One of the things I covered was just how easy it is to create a style and also how to save your text which was obliterated by applying a slide style and how to apply that saved text AFTER using a slide style.
There are plenty of good time saving reasons to use a style in your shows to greatly save time. Yes, you can modify a style which was created by users and save the modifications as a new style. David's reminder perhaps requires a little more clarification. There are default styles that are part of PTE and there are hundreds of styles which are not part of the program itself but have been made by various users. Any style made by a user can be modified and saved as a new style. Those styles which are created by and distributed by the developers with the program can't be edited and saved. On the other hand, some of the styles distributed by the developers have identical counterparts in styles created by users and either sold or given to the forum, so the vast majority of built-in styles can be modified by using these counterparts rather than the default built-in styles of PTE.

Give me a few minutes and I'll make you a quick tutorial video to show you exactly how to do what you are doing in the vast majority of your show. As you mentioned, it's mostly very slow zooms in and zooms out with sometimes text and sometimes no text. It's very easy to do and you can either use styles or not. You'll see how to keep the text from zooming with the image or, if you want, how to make it zoom with the image. The advantage of using a style is that you can pre-set things like smooth, slow down, etc., for the image without having to do it for each image. The disadvantage of using a style is that when you apply it "after" adding text, you will lose the text. On the other hand, you can easily go to a slide which has text, go to Objects and Animations and copy the text, apply the style which will add the desired zoom in, zoom out, etc., then simply paste the text you have copied back after the style has been applied. I'll also show you how that's done. I think using styles would make perfect sense because you simply apply the style THEN add the text rather than the other way around. I'll show you and put the tutorial video under this text in a short while...

Yes, it's a simple thing to create a style which performs a fade/zoom, but you need to say whether you want to start with a small image and zoom-in or start with a large image and zoom out. A starting keyframe is put in every image by default so all you need to do to make a "template" (which is a style in this sense) is to take a single image of the aspect ratio and orientation you want to use for your style. Set the default display time and amount of zoom (in or out). Decide if you want a border or another image or even the same image as a blurred background, etc., Set an ending keyframe, do your zoom and set the attributes such as smooth, slow down, etc., whether you want a border or not and if so the color and size. Once you have the individual slide exactly as you want to see all your slides, then go to the slide view and click on Styles and Themes, choose "Style" "Tool" "Create Style." When your style is created you can apply it to any or all images by simply selecting each or all in the slide list then applying. Do NOT add text unless you know you want text in every slide. You can add the text after the style is applied.
If you create a single slide exactly the way you want all to appear then save the project as "File" "Create Backup In Zip" and post this zipped archive with a link, I'll be glad to make a quick style(s) for you. It's a very simple thing to do once you understand how it works.

I'll try to address your questions. Changes made in Styles or Themes doesn't set the slide to the "default" settings, it sets the slide to the settings chosen by the person who created the style. Sometimes that might be the same as the default settings, sometimes not depending on what the style does and how it appears or is designed to appear.
If you use a style or theme, use it BEFORE making any changes via slide options or Objects and Animations. When someone creates a style or theme, they set the display time corresponding to the desired effect. There are options before applying a style to change the timing to make the animation faster or slower. When you change this timing you can see the effect BEFORE applying the style to a slide or slides.
There are many reasons why a change in styles and/or themes changes what has been done in Objects and Animations. The primary reason for a style is to give someone who has less programming knowledge an opportunity to avail themselves of the talents of a more experienced user. Most frequently styles create animations and that means they affect what happens in Objects and Animations. The person creating the style has no clue what you may have done in the way of making changes from the defaults so it would be impossible to create a logical style without having pre-assumptions about conditions. It's simply not logical to try and leave things such as text as they "were" in Objects and Animations because the style creator may also be making a style which uses text which can be modified by the user of that style. How would the creator of a style know, apriori, what was potentially already in Objects and Animations?
If you decide to use a style or theme, just do it BEFORE making any additions of text or other animations to a slide and you will have no problems. If you make changes and "then" decide to use a style it is going to undo any changes you have made to the slide. That's just the way it is.

Hi Paul,
It's a long story... Long ago Dave G introduced a "waving" style which was a cool thing for images and I thought it might be nice for adding a flagpole at one end to wave little PNG flags. The problem was, that the side which was more or less "stationary" (didn't wave) on the image was on the wrong side to attach to a flag pole. The simple and quick solution was to horizontally flip the flag before using the png image so rather than totally rework the animation I just flipped a large group of flags horizontally, created a quick "style," and posted a link to a zipped archive so users who wanted to play with this little style could choose their flag from the content and use it.
At the time we were discussing a new feature which has been planned for PTE to allow saving any screen image as a jpg or PNG image at full resolution. I think Igor still has plans to add this feature. Having this would make it very easy to save a horizontally flipped image without using a screen capture or taking the original image into an image editing program such as Photoshop. The only way to make this style work with a non flipped flag would be to rework Dave's original waving style and there just wasn't enough interest in it to warrant the time necessary.Here's a link to the zipped archive of horizontally flipped flags if you want to experiment..

I doubt it's planned for PTE. To do something like that requires a company to pay licensing fees and that, of course, raises the price of the product. There are thousands of royalty-free selections available from http://www,soundimage.org/ etc, for attribution. When Photodex went under, that left all the "free music" use on thousands of people's slideshow in question of legality. Without paying continuing licensing fees the legal use of the music is in limbo and may subject those who have posted it in their shows vulnerable to legislation.

Do NOT add a style AFTER adding text or making changes you want to keep in display time. Select and apply desired styles or themes FIRST, then make any necessary or desired changes such as adding text, changing slide duration or transitions times, etc..

Can you fade that text in ( other than the entire slide fade )? From what I've read in proposed new features, you can't.

The other question being, I noticed that if a slide has text added in O & A, and you add a zoom/fade to the slide in S&T,
the text is now gone. On most shows, I usually add the text first, then add zooms/fades much later in the process.
You have complete control over the text. You can fade it in, out, move it, size it, change font, change color, rotate it, bend it, etc., etc., etc. - all independent of what you do to the slide image. I will show you some samples to see the possible. Text can even have images, videos, etc., running inside. it's all a matter of learning how to deal with it in this software which is new to you. PTE is an extremely powerful environment which allows you to essentially do anything with text that can be done with other objects (images, etc.) Below are a few samples of the possible with text which you can do with a little practice. Many of these things have been contributed in the way of free styles which are available to all PTE users and make it very easy to actually use these techniques while you are still learning how to create them for yourself.
As with any features in software, users generally want more and different capabilities and the developers of this fine product are continually improving and refining the possible. Sometimes reading the requests can give one who has no previous experience the wrong impression. That has happened to you I'm afraid. The answer to your question above about fading in and out text independent of what happens to the entire slide is yes indeed you can.... Your second question answer is no, the text does not disappear when you add a zoom or fade to a slide. You can make the text a child of the image so that it does what the parent slide does, but it is an option, not a necessary condition.

That's confusing. You say you included it in "A" slide and your video was 2.5 meg
Then you say you include in 4 slides and the size is 10.1 meg
That's an additional three slides - additional display time for any show with slides increases the file size proportionally.
Take four slides and include the video only with the first slide and make an mp4. Look at the file size.
Take the same four slides and include the video with each of all four slides and make an mp4. Look at the file size.
The file size will not change with the addition of the same video three more times. There is no penalty for using the same video multiple times as long as the video does not increase the overall time of the show..

NO! Actually, it doesn't - not in PTE. Adding the same video multiple times does not increase the file size over using the video once. You might want to look at one of my latest demos where I have over 14, 480 individual video screens on rotating, zooming icosahedrons simultaneously playing videos to get an idea of the way this program works. It's NOT like Proshow - there is no additional headroom for using the same image or the same video multiple times.

There is no "loop video" feature with PTE, but it's possible to program it. In Objects and Animations where the video is added you can place it four times (five seconds times four times = 20 seconds). Set the offset for five seconds on the second iteration, ten seconds on the third iteration and fifteen seconds on the forth iteration. Set the opacity to go to zero as the first iteration ends and to zero for the second and third iteration as they end. You end up with the video revealed sequentially on four layers.
An easier way is to simply add the video clip five times end to end in the slide list and create a 20 second video then use that rather that trying to repeat the short clip.

Hi Rosemary,
Just spell a word purposely wrong and you will hear a "boink" sound as soon as you hit the space bar after the word. With PTE you won't be given choices of words to try like you would if you were using a text editor, but it will immediately tell you when you spell the word incorrectly. Add text and change the word text to taxt and you will hear the "you've made a spelling error sound" If you try making a mistake here in the forum you can then highlight the incorrectly spelled word and right click for a choice of words.

Which presentation slideshow product anywhere, or for that matter which non-linear video editor anywhere can create an animation with over fourteen thousand four hundred and eighty simultaneously displayed videos running on rotating, zooming isocahedrons? In my experience, only PTE can do this. What is the limit? I don't know, but I have created thirty six thousand two hundred (36,200) on my 32 gigabyte i7 Windows 8.1 computer with an nVidia GTX 1660 ti video card with six gigabytes of RAM with no problems. Pretty danged amazing Igor - this software rocks !!!!

Dave's suggestion would work I think... Also, look into purchasing a used laptop. Here in the USA there are multiple laptops with 64 bit Win 7, Win 8 and even Win 10 operating systems, 4 gigabytes of RAM and reasonably fast Intel processors for $100 to $160. I'm certain the prices are not all that different in the UK. How many are in your club? I would think it would be reasonable to take up a collection and get a decent 64 bit laptop for a very small amount per person?
I have bought laptops and desktops for friends and relatives in the last few months. I got a beautiful HP Desktop with 8 Gig RAM and a Win 7 Pro for $100. I gave it to a friend to replace her old XP. I bought a really nice Dell laptop with 8 gig RAM and Win 10 64 bit for $140 for a relative... Good deals are out there - look around and let your fingers do the walking...Best regards,
