  1. Hi Frans, Thanks! My mind was "wandering" LOL .... Best regards, Lin
  2. Hi Dom, Too much coffee yesterday, I guess - LOL Here's the zip: http://www.lin-evans.org/rose/therosepte.zip Best regards, Lin
  3. Couldn't sleep tonight so..... http://www.lin-evans...ose/therose.zip (5 meg Win PC) http://www.lin-evans.../therosemac.zip (5 meg MacIntosh) Just a side note - the atom is one of Magnesium with a dozen planetary electrons which is vital to Rose health. The background is a fractal representing the fractal nature of our universe and the transparent cube represents the invisibility of nature's delivery system which furnishes the Rose with life sustaining magnesium via the frenzy of atomic energy. And if you buy all this, you're as wacky and sleep deprived as I was when I made my notes on it! LOL Lin
  4. Just a little sample using one of the great PanosFX free Photoshop or Elements actions to help create. The PanosFX action creates either of two "lightbulbs" and allows the user to place their own image inside. I took the "snow lightbulb" results and created a template which the user can, within seconds, put their own image inside and animate with snowfall or not using PTE. Essentially the template provides a "sandwitch" of layers between which your own image and the snowfall reside. Simply replace my image with either a PNG with transparency or a full scenic and size it to fill the existing space. If you want snowfall, then leave things as they are and it will automate and run for sixty seconds. Use a two second fade and copy and paste the slide as many times as you want it to run in one minute intervals. Just go to the Objects and Animations screen, Properties tab and click on my image then on the open file icon at the top right of the screen to navigate to your own PNG, bmp, gif, animated gif or jpg and replace mine with yours. Size and place visually to fill the lightbulb space as desired. Here's the sample which uses four "copies" of the original and one additional slide. Note that the velocity of snow changes with the last slide because the display time is half that of the one minute default. Of course it's possible to change that by adjusting the distance the PNG snowfall files travel in the different display time, but I didn't bother. http://www.lin-evans.org/sample/bulbanimationdemo.zip (15 meg zipped exe) Anyone interested, just post and let me know and I will upload the template... Best regards, Lin
  5. Hi Daniel, Thanks! It sometimes is a little difficult to get close enough but I've been photographing them since 1958 so I've learned by trial and error the best ways to get close without being spotted - LOL. Sometimes I get caught and they scamper away, but over the years I've probably photographed over a thousand coyotes doing everything from running down rabbits to snacking on voles and ground squirrels. They are very efficient hunters and will eat almost anything from rodents to young and old and sick deer - stray cats, small dogs and your chickens and turkeys if you let them. Fortunately, I've always had pit dogs which ran them off my ranch so we never lost any livestock of any kind. Here's a picture of Buster, one of my dogs who made his living in early days chasing coyotes - LOL... By the way, I've added about 20 images and put a link to the web video - the exe is too big to download...... it's on the original post at the bottom under the other two links... Best regards, Lin
  6. Don't you see the problem with your logic? If a "Mac" booted in Windows is a Windows machine like any other, except for the logo on the case, then a Windows machine booted into OSx is a Mac like any other, except the logo on the case also - LOL. A=A... Best regards, Lin
  7. So, If I format my hard disk with OSx then my PC "is" a MacIntosh? Why spend the additional money for the Mac then!! Lin
  8. Some good suggestions Ken, but the one about setting PZR to smooth would not work - in fact, it would cause major logic problem because this requires individual settings (glue, separate) on multiple keyframes and why would one expect to have identical keyframe positions on multiple slides? To make this work, the default would have to be smooth rather than linear, (any changes to keyframe positions require linear as a default). The entire flexibility of being able to have choices about where smooth, linear, accelerate, etc., are applied would require a major paradigm shift and re-write of large areas of code. I think this idea to implement would pretty much cripple the flexibility we have now and is probably why things are as they are from a programming perspective. The thing which "could" be improved is automatic separation of keyframes when smooth is chosen rather than having to do it individually, but then even this would cause issues with flexibility unless we had the "choice" of giving up the flexibility or not. 9. So what happens when you click on the waveform button? Best regards, Lin
  10. They are virtualization applications and I think the majority of users know these as emulators. I think to argue semantics serves no useful purpose in this case. As long as everyone understands that Bootcamp and Fusion allow an Intel-based MacIntosh to run Windows operating systems, that's sufficient for good communication. Even though the operating system is running in a virtualization mode, it doesn't necessarily mean that MacIntosh "hardware" will always work in the same way as Windows hardware works. Drivers and other factors may still cause issues with peripherals, and I believe that's what Brian is getting at. Best regards, Lin
  11. Thanks Charlie, Coyotes are fun to watch and photograph - it's always a challenge. Best regards, Lin
  12. Thanks Rick - fun critters to stalk and photograph... Best regards, Lin
  13. Hey Ken, I'll bet those animals wished he had never helped the police because they shot most of them right outside their cages - bummer... Lin
  14. http://www.lin-evans.org/sample/God's_dog.zip (18 meg) Windows http://www.lin-evans.org/sample/God's_dogmac.zip (~ 18 meg) MacIntosh http://www.lin-evans.org/yotes/God's_Dog.htm (Greatly expanded web version with 20 more images) 03/11/12 Expanded show compressed to original size and smaller and linked on original links - now about 17 meg download for PC and Mac.. 20 slides added to originals.... 15. Hi Andi, On the Project Options - Main Tab - uncheck "Synchronize music and slides" On Advanced Settings check "Show Navigation Bar." Next, add your background music via the Music Tab. On the "Control Tab" check "Permit Control of Show Using Keyboard". You music will continue to play regardless of whether the slideshow is stopped or advancing. You can then "pause and resume" the show via the keyboard space bar, back up a slide with the left arrow key and go forward with the right arrow key. Or, you can use the pause and resume and slider on the Navigation Bar. If you set the Navigation to other than the default, you may then use those features as well. It's not "essential" than you have the Navigation Bar, just an option. All controls "can" be done via the keyboard. Best regards, Lin
  16. Hi Frans, I do not believe it's possible to do this. If there is a way, I'm not familiar with it. Best regards, Lin
  17. Hi Eric, Let me see if I can put it a different way. You have a slide and you have a transition. The slide time plus the transition time equal a total display time for that slide. If you want that particular total time preserved with a different slide then the transition "time" must remain and the new slide must have the same time as the one you are moving. By having the box checked, you indicate that this is your wish. It would not be logical for PTE to "change" the type of transition capriciously, but just leave your chosen transition in place and assign the replacement slide for that position in the slide list the same time as was assigned to the slide you are moving. The issue is to determine what actually consists of a "total time". For example: You begin the very first slide with a fade in. Now, does this fade-in belong with the first slide? Logic would say yes. But what about the transition from the first to the second slide? Does this transition belong to the first or second slide? What if you had no transition for the first slide from the opening of the show? What if you decided to have a "quick, no transition?" So there are logic issues which must be dealt with about which transition belongs to which slide and when. Whichever way you decide is somewhat arbitrary, but in order to "preserve" some logic then a choice has to be made by the developer. Igor chose to do it the way he did because no matter which way he programmed, someone would think it should be a different way. So he gave us a choice. Tick the box and the transition stays and is assigned to the replacement or previous slide or untick the box and the transition goes away. Best regards, Lin
  18. Hi Eric, It's not a bug. The transition is part of the "duration" so if you ask to have the original slide duration preserved, the transition stays assuming you will set a new transition and transition time at the location of the move. It's a logic issue. Best regards, Lin
  19. Hi Steve, I think you misunderstand the purpose of this exercise. If I might speak for Davy, it's not a "slide show" designed to make any sense or to be entertaining, it's an exercise in the use of various animation effects and to allow the creator to experiment and better learn the process of using various disparate elements. Best regards, Lin
  20. Hi, Assuming you start with a flat object which has not be altered in Photoshop, etc., to have some 3D transform already applied: When you type in 90 for the parameter on the 3D transform the image is at right angles to the screen, but since a 2D image has no depth, you will see nothing except the green box representing the image. If you build a three dimensional construct such as a cube, you will see the 90 degree rotation. If you use the "up or down" arrows and hold the left mouse button down you can rotate the object through the entire 360 degree or more cycle and see exactly what happens when you reach 90 or 270 degrees. Start a new project - put in a simple photo and size it so you can see all edges. Now rotate it with 3D transform and observe. If this is not what you are seeing on your project it's because of something you have done such as a parent/child relationship and you are seeing the results of complex interactions. The 3D Transform works as it should. If you create a zip file and provide a link I'll see what you have done and explain why you are seeing the results you see. Best regards, Lin
  21. Here Davy, Just for you!! LOL http://www.lin-evans.org/sample/hairyspider.zip Lin
  22. Hey Davy, My favorite is the "BAT" LOL - he almost got me! You might want to search around for some high end animated GIF's to add. I think there is a realistic spider which you could have climbing up a strand to his web above! Keep it coming, you're getting it down! Best regards, Lin
  23. Hi Eric, 7.04 is not a "beta" it is the full current "version" of PTE.... For the OP, use your image editor or one of the freeware editors such as IrfanView (http://www.irfanview.com), or the very excellent utility PhotoScape (http://photoscape.or.../main/index.php) to alter your image size.... Best regards, Lin
  24. Hi Mick, I now realize that having the lyrics available would help a great deal with understanding the slide sequences, so I have added them to my original post for clarification. Best regards, Lin
  25. Hi Patrick, LOL - I think that's (stay ignorant) is the wrong choice of words.... I don't believe I would understand nuances of a slideshow in which pictures are used to complement the words and meanings of a song in French. Even for some English speakers, some of the phrases in The Dimming of the Day are not always immediately understood because some are old and not commonly used today. The story is about a woman who is so "transfixed" by a man that her tears flow and she can't live without his presence. When her "will" is gone his attraction and dominance over her is complete. She feels his attraction in the same way the tides are attracted by the gravitational pull of the moon. During the daytime, the inference is that she has other distractions which occupy her mind, but she "needs" him most when the sun goes down (The Dimming of the Day). Seeing him on the streets in the company of others she wonders why he doesn't come to her and spend time with her. The beautiful "birds" have flown away - a metaphor for the diminished quality of her life. She longs for and anxiously awaits the day when they will leave together. That's about as good as I can explain the meaning of the song and how the pictures interact with the words. Best regards, Lin
