  1. When I am wanting to obtain exact registration of one slide over another I tend to use the slide view on the time line and drag one slide over another to check the registration. I then fiddle with the size and positioning of the slide. Is there any better and more accurate way of doing this without having to resort to Photoshop?

  2. Something odd has happened. Previously I have always had the thumb nail picture in the slide view whilst constructing my programme. For some reason which I seem unable to rectify all I now see is a ;list of the slides. The thumb nail image appears when I change to the time line view. How do I get back to my preferred way of working?

  3. Hi folks,

I just wanted to let you know that one of the many reasons I have not gone for a 'mac', over the years, was this wonderful program PTE. But as a result of an extensive burglary

I decided that I had enough with Win7 and bought a iMac. I was happy to use my win7 laptop for PTE, coping files back across usb drives. But I found a much, much better solution.

If you have a iMac may I suggest:

    1. It comes with 4GB RAM, don't do a store upgrade for extra memory. Go to crucial.com and get an extra 8GB for £50/$60. It is very easy to install and you end up with 12GB

    2. Install VMware Fusion 3. You will need your original Win7 CD.

    3. Once up and running Win7 will do its updates, mine found 89, and later updated to Win7 service pack 1, and so on...

    4. The VMware version of Win7 is held in a virtual machine, but if minimised it will still update while you or at work on the iMac.

    5. Install PTE to Win7, but you will find that when you try to run it, you will get an error message asking for Direct X.

    6. Go back to VMware and install 'VMtools'

    7. PTE will now work!

I now have the best of both worlds. Win7 comes up, as a result of it being held in virtual machine, in just seconds.

VMware allows for folders to be shared, so I can add my pictures/images/rawfile folders to be seen and edited in either win7 or on the iMac.

Be aware that while you may not need an Internet Security Suite on the iMac it is still a good idea. Many such suites are free. But if you have a virtual Win7 approach on your mac then a windows security suite is strongly recommended.

While I am clearly new to all this mac lion/win7 get together; if I can help, I will. I do not want this thread to become a Win7_V_Mac debate. I am merely offering this info for folk who have jumped ship and are looking to run PTE on a mac. All feedback is most welcome!

  5. I have purchased DVD from which I wish to copy a small section. It plays well in Windows Media Player. I believe that my IAC licences will cover me although I am not planning to show this anywhere else other than at my camera club. Can anybody walk me through the process if it can be done.

  6. Can anybody tell me why it is when loading brand new dvd disks ready for the video builder I keep getting 'Disk not empty' messages. Yet when I force the issue two or three times the Video builder begins to work. The finished disk shows no sign of there being any other material on the disk.

  7. In the days of slide projection we tried to obtain a third image by holding the transition at the half way point so that the combine effect of the two slides produced a third image. In these digital times I know we can obtain simulation by using photoshop and layers but I am not sure if it can be done by using a dissolve pattern in PTE. That is unless somebody out there has discovered how to do it.

So if it can be done entirely in PTE please tell me how to do it.

  8. PicturesToExe 4.49

    http://www.wnsoft.com/files/picturestoexe/previous-versions/pte449.zip (1.4 MB)

We decided update old version 4.xx of PicturesToExe because it contained unplesant bug. Slideshows with music/sounds can't exit by Esc key or at end of a show under Windows Vista on dual-core CPU based PCs.

Also we prepared special utility which patches EXE file of slideshows created with old versions from 4.40 to 4.48 and it updates slideshow's engine to version 4.49 and solves this bug:

    http://www.wnsoft.com/files/picturestoexe/previous-versions/pte449patch.zip (400 KB)

This utility automatically recognizes EXE files and will not modify already patched EXE files or more new 5.00 slideshow where there is no problem.

    We apologize for this problem.

    Hi Igor

I have used version 4.9 as a menu programme running in Windows XP and displaying a variety of sequences made with all versions of PTE. This was on an old lap top which I have just upgraded. As the version 7 causes this flashing I really want to download version 4.9 again. I had hoped I could just copy it across from the old lap top but for some reason I cannot find the programme although it loads successfully from a desk top icon. I have even done a search for it and that show nothing there. Most perculiar. Can you send me a version of 4.9 p[lerase.

    Mike

  9. This one really is for Igor.

I have seen mention recently of the flashing of monitor screens when using the current version of PTE set up as a menu screen to manage a series of sequences at a show. This never happened with the Version 4 series and it is disturbing as the projector also goes into hibernation mode and has to reset itself when the picture comes back. In view of this I would like to also have a copy of version 4.9 on my lap top. Is it possible to download this version.

    Thanks

    Mike Reed

  10. When I try to insert a slide and then delete a slide from the time line using the delete key on my computer PTE seems to adjust the timing of other slides in the time line. In earlier version one could tick to hold the position of slides on the time line. I cannot see how to do this in v7. I have looked in Project options and Timed points to no avail. It must be there somewhere.

  11. Hi Mike can you not drag the pano to fill the screen top to bottom then drag it to one side hit the plus key then drag it to the other side hit the minus key, then set the time for the pano?

PS I'm still on 6.0.4 & that is what I would do.

    Regards Eric

    Yachtsman1.

Many thanks. So simple and as for 1204x768 that was a typo.

  12. Hi

I have searched the forum but cannot find the answer to my problem. I wish to have a panorama. I have stitched together two images making a slide that is 2048 x 768. I have PTE set to 1204x768 but when the slide is loaded I get a black band top and bottom with the whole image showing. Many moons ago I seem to recall that one could push an image of this size across the screen thereby achieving a panorama but I cannot seem to achieve this with V7. I have tried making the panorama two separate images at 1024x768 and using the push effect to no avail.

    Help

  13. I have previously constructed a menu page and buttons using v 4,9. I have tried to do it in v7 and am struggling. I have searched the comments made previously on this subject and have put my EXE files into the same folder as the menu file but I cannot get the buttons to have anything visible on them other than the word button even though I have typed the correct title into the text panel (common tab of Objects and Animation).

    What am I doing wrong?

  14. Mike,

Use the F3 Full Screen view to select your images (Click, Ctrl+Click, Shift+Click - which-ever) and use the Add button to add them (at the end of the project). Then tap F4 twice to go into Full Screen view of the Slide List and drag and drop them to where you want. By adjusting the slider to control the thumbnail size, you can see up to 300 images at a time.

    Peter

Thanks Peter. It has also occurred to me that I can copy the slide at the end then past it where I want it then delete the one at the end. There is always a way!!!

  15. Mike,

Drag from the File List pane (where the images in the folder are displayed) and drop in the Slide List (across the bottom of the window) between the two images. You will see a black bar appear between the two images to confirm visually where the drop will happen. If you miss your target, simply drag and drop laterally along the Slide List. For more complex sorting, simply use F4 to toggle into the "digital light box" and then drag and drop to your hearts content. F4 again to toggle back to the main window.

    regards,

    Peter

    P

I make my selections from the Full screen view of file list F3 not F4 as that way I can see all the non used slides. But when I select from there the selected slide is added to the end of the sequence. I know I can left click and drag to position but if the sequence is a long one that's a bit of a bore. I was hoping there was a way to drop it in position from F3

    Mike
