  1. Hi

I am keen to add a short video sequence to a PTE Project.

I searched the forum for this subject and could only find a comment by Lin Evans in 2007 basically saying NO. With all the updates since then is it now possble and if so how and what file extension should be saved.

  2. Hi

I have searched the forum but can only find a comment by Lin Evans back in 2007 which was in the negative. So is it now possible to import a video sequence into Pte? If so how do I do it and what file extension should I save it in before trying to import it?

  3. Hi Igor

PTE just gets better and better. One thought. When using two monitors and running a preview it would be most helpful if the Blue curser in the time line moves in sync as the preview is seen on the other monitor. I appreciate you can do this in the editing mode but when viewing at full screen things to adjust often stand out more that in the smaller viewing screen.

  4. Mike,

I'm presuming you have two images: the procenium arch and the curtain. They should both appear as independent objects in the O&A window - not as parent and child objects. In the list of objects, the procenium should come above the curtain - think Photoshop layer stacks. Then when you animate the curtain it will pass behind the arch.

    regards,

    Peter

Thanks Peter and The Dom. I will give Peter's advice a try and if that fails it is over to you Dom. I am sure I did try what you suggested Peter but just maybe I got the layers in the wrong order.

  5. This is driving me mad.

I want to make the curtain in a theatre image go up behind the procenium. Simple I know but which ever way I try it the curtain moves infront of the main image.

I wish to create the effect of the raising of the Safety Curtain before a show commences. There must be a way!

  6. Hi Mike,

You can kill a couple of birds with one stone.

Increase security, increase laptop performance, and tell xp what you want it to do,and what you don't want it to do.

    It's your computer,not Microsoft's!

    Have a look here.... http://www.jasonn.com/turning_off_unnecess...s_on_windows_xp

There's a small video demo and written instructions for services you can turn off, that you might find useful.

You can disable antivirus and other background flagwaving programes for the show duration.(Another system performance boost in itself,

especially if you are running Norton).

Good luck with the next show.

    Davy

Thanks Davy. Having listened to the video he scared the living daylights out of me so I think I will leave well alone.
  7. Hi

I use XP pro on my lap top. Is there any way to remove the annoying little windows that come up from time to time telling you that this that or the other needs attention. It happened three times during a show last night following a windows update of some sort. kept telling me to reboot the computer. Not very professional when that happens. In the end it gave up and did the restart anyway completely ruining a sequence that was three quarters of the way through.

  8. HI All

Am having trouble in getting my head around creating a template of a sequence to send to someboby else who has PTE installed so that they can amend what I have done.. So far I have gone to file> templates>create template from this show. Given it a name and hit OK. The resultant template would appear to be saved in... c/docs and settings/all users/application data/pictures to exe/templates/then the saved name of my sequence. BUT when I open this folder and save to a blank cd all I get copied is the slides without the runing/timing order or sound track. I expected it to open into a new project in exactly the layout as I have it in my timing window.

Have I done something wrong or is this all you get as a template?

  9. Hi All

I did not intend to stir up such feelings when posing this question. I have since established that the reason for requesting the certifcation is because the halls' insurers have written such a requirement into their third party liability cover. It is not therefore unreasonable for the hall to protect itself. I wonder how many other halls are similarly affected but no body has bothered to read the small print.

  10. Has anybody come across this one before?

I was to do a show in a Church hall but was told I had to have a Portable Appliance Testing certificate for my electrical equipment as otherwise I would invalidate the halls insurance.

Doe anybody know how I get one and what it might cost?

The Nanny State again or fear of ambulance chaing Solicitors!!

Thanks everybody for your helpful comments. It seems as though it better be done for no other reason than to protect myself.

  12. What concerns me is that with added sound track windows I am going to run out of monitor screen space. What's wrong with using a programme such as Adobe Audition where the options are extensive. After all it is easy enough to switch from one screen to another or keep note of timings when these are vital. By the way it is not that expensive as early editions are still available. For example v1.5 is $49 from http://www.argumentsoftware.com/P8/Digital...ition_v1_5.html

  13. Thanks, Igor, I'll try it as soon as possible.

This was in candidate topic :

Thank you and thanks to Wnsoft team for this new version which have some interesting features : MP4 video, new effects, sound in OA windows with pause button, masks ....

Of course, I am disapointed that 2 of my suggestions haven't be completely put, the one about mask and the one about original mode, both would have been very useful and made PTE powerful. For some works like the one above (Mon maƮtre : 256 Mo for graphic card) or others I did, I'll be obliged to use V5.52 and then finish them with 5.6 to add mask, effects or make a MP4 file (of course I have try to do them with V5.6 but too much difficult)

Even if the masks aren't what I hoped, we can do many things with them, I have prepare two catalogues with 58 effects for each (I am working on the third one).

The templates are available and free, you can use the files in your own slideshows, but they can't be included in a template for sale neither use the original ideas about use of zoom I had (max zoom possible) to make some effects in a template for sale.

To include an effect in your slideshow, use the Hawk method, open one of the 2 templates, copy one or several slides with effects, then without close PTE open your slideshow and paste the slides, put your own photos and adjust parameters if necessary.

The links to the templates are in the Catalogue's slideshows.

Espace10.gifOne of those for which V5.6 is too difficult to use :

PTE V5.6 is a very good product, it could have been a perfect product.... maybe later, I hope

What a fantastic selection of masks. My problem is I do not know what the Hawk method is. Can you or somebody else please explain in simple terms.

  14. Mike,

Try Page Effect Top-to-Bottom but with "Own thickness of smoothing line" ticked and the percentage set to 50% or greater - and a long transition duration (5 seconds or more).

    regards,

    Peter

    Thanks Peter

Just as I remembered it and it worked a treat.

You might care to have a look at my posting re templates of today for I am struggling with this.

  15. Hi Dave,

You're making far too many assumptions. First you assume that the person is using XP, then that they know how to create a "zipped folder" in Explore. How much easier can it be than clicking on "File" then "Create Backup in Zip?"

    Best regards,

    Lin

    Hi Lin and All

I seem to have started something here. Can I now expand the problem for I have a template saved on a cd. I can run that and open the Pte project. However I now wish to make a DVD of that project and the cd is in the dvd writer drive. If I take the cd out and replace it with a blank Dvd I get the message that the files cannot be found by Pte. How do I fool Pte into finding the images in my CD read only drive which is available? Keep it simple as I am a silver surfer.

    I live in hope

    Mike

  16. Mike,

You cannot add the entire folder contents as a mail attachment by just selecting a folder. You must open the folder and select all its file contents to be added as a mail attachment. This is the normal procedure in any Windows OS.

Your best bet is to Create Backup Zip using Pte. Send the zip file to your friend and they can decide whether to make it a template file in their Pte templates directory.

    Thanks

I have tried that way and await a response from my friend. Not sure how effective it would be with a large file, it took quite a while to load up the 5mb file as it was.

  17. Mike,

    Click on File/ Templates/"Manage Templates".

In the window - "Template Folder" - That's where your Template will be saved.

    That's the link you need.

    DaveG

    Dave

I am afraid that is not the answer. I can navigate to the folder in which there are the individual slides plus the template but when I click on that to attach it to my e-mail it becomes a PTE project file i.e. with the extension .pte

    Mike

  18. Hi All

    This is odd.

I have saved a project as a template and PTE says that it is saved as a .pt file. The complete string being shown at the bottom of the main window. I am trying to send that to a colleague but when I try to attach the template .pt file to my e-mail I cannot find it neither can windows search facility. What I do find though at the same address is the .pte file which of course my colleague cannot open. Any ideas what is going on?
