In the File Panel part of the main window, the used image files have their name appearing in bold font. This applies only if the images are "main images". If the image has been used as an object overlayed on some other main image, then the name remains in normal font. regards, Peter

Hi, You will notice that a Moderator has moved your topic to the forum section for "Video output". It helps all users of the forum if topics are posted into the proper section. Secondly, you may find the following FAQ provides some useful background information: http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10505 regards, Peter

What I see now "Easy Tiger...." is not what I saw earlier today when I tried the link. I think that the original website may have been "hijacked" and I would stay well clear of it. John (jfa), if the site remains in its present, apparently corrupt, state it might be best to have the whole topic deleted? regards, Peter

Link worked fine for me. regards, Peter

Daniel, You have made a change between steps 2 and 4 in your both your cases: you have created an exe of a particular name. This fact is stored within the .pte project file and therefore, when you try and close PTE via the red/white "X" button, PTE quite correctly asks you to save the project again. regards, Peter

Hi, I've attached a file that shows an example of doing "psuedo-motion" using images as objects. I used just three images and have repeated them one after the other several times to illustrate a point that I wanted to make in a sequence that I built last year. regards, Peter 3-image-Motion.zip
-
Benny, That's a lovely little sequence. You have a well trained eye that sees the photo opportunity. One small point that you should, perhaps, address: I thought the end was not quite synchronized. The music seemed to be cut short on the final chord. This can probably be remedied very simply. In PTE, go into the Timeline view and click on the button "Timed Points" then click on "Set End of Last Slide at End of Music". One other point: some combinations of Internet Service Providers and anti-virus software products do not allow downloads of exe files. It is always a good idea to zip the exe file using something like WinZip (or any of the other excellent file compression utilities) and then upload the zip file. Thanks for sharing this with us. regards, Peter

Igor, That's excellent publicity for PTE. regards, Peter -
Dave, Thanks for the feedback. At least we can now rule out anything associated with my having Moderator status. There has to be an aspect to this problem that we haven't yet figured out - but I don't know where else to look to find it. regards Peter

Mary, I think you must have missed this post by Igor: http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10648 regards, Peter

Question for someone with Photoshop CS4 Extended

NX2? regards, Peter -
Dave, Up at the very top of the window for this topic, over on the right are three buttons. Two are "Add Reply" and "Start a New Topic" what is the third on your system? On mine it is "Watch this topic" which means that it thinks I am not watching it at present. But I have posted a reply to it (above) and so it should think I am watching it. After sending this post to you, I'll exit the forum and come back in and check to see what it then says (after I have made this post) regards, Peter
-
Dave, I don't think your own posts count as new content. I think the forum software assumes that you know about your own posts! regards, Peter

Dave, Thanks for the offer of assistance with debugging this issue. My Settings are as in the two attached screen grabs. (I don't rule out the possibility of it being related to one or more of these settings) What happens is that I reply to an existing topic. That causes the forum to flag it as one that I am watching. When someone else posts to that topic I get an e-mail alerting me to the new post. When I then connect to the forum and click on View New Content usually I see that topic listed as having new content but just occasionally the topic doesn't appear in the list at all. At first I thought it was a problem just with the Hardware Acceleration Poll topic that Igor set up. I was suspecting that the poll topic was being handled differently to a normal topic. After the forum software was upgraded to v3.0.3 the problem seemed to vanish and new posts to that poll topic were appearing under View New Content. But this morning, as I reported above, it happened again on two other normal topics. I'm going to be out of the house for the next two or three hours so there will be a delay before I connect to the forum again. regards, Peter

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the problem hasn't gone away. This morning I powered up my PC and went into Outlook to pick up my e-mails. There were three from the forum advising me of new posts (2 in the "Flip Swap" topic and one in the "Slow Folders" topic). After dealing with the other e-mails I then went into the forum and asked it to "View New Content". Neither of the topics appeared in the list of those with new content. Am I the only user experiencing this problem? regards, Peter

Ken, I think you were refering to SearchIndex feature which background builds indexes to all the files on all your hard-drives. I've turned this off as far as I can because it was adding minutes to file open and file save times. And yes, like you I'm sure that if Stu does see this topic he will contribute his expertise (as would Brian - Conflow - if he spots it). regards, Peter

Barbara, I've just checked my v6.0 beta15 and it works OK for me. Were you assigning the effect via "Customize Slide"? If so, did you remember to tick the "Use own transition effect" box at the top left of the Effect tab? regards, Peter

Yes, I've observed this ever since I started putting a copy of every exe fle into the same folder. I've just carried out a little test as follows: - Ctrl+Alt+Del and launched the Windows Task Manager (WTM) - Configured WTM to show the Processes tab, configured it to "Show processes from all users" - Configured it to show the activity in descending order of CPU usage - Configured it to be "Always on top" - Used the Windows Start button to launch Windows Explorer and navigated to the folder containing all my PTE .exe files Windows Explorer quickly displayed all the PTE exe files but with a plain white rectangle as the "icon" and then took several seconds to add the PTE icon to each of the .exe files. Whilst Windows Explorer was doing this the top three processes in WTM were: System Idle Process, explorer.exe and taskmgr.exe. System Idle Process is the the system waiting for work. This will show a very high percentage CPU busy almost all of the time - except when the computer is doing something else. "taskmgr.exe" is used to determine which process gets the next turn to have some processing service - and in a quiet system usually hops from 1 to 2 percent and back again as it "wakes up" to see who wants service and then goes back to sleep again. In my test scenario the only task doing "useful" work was Windows Explorer. I was half expecting to see Norton Anti-Virus busy but all the time is being taken up by Windows Explorer (explorer.exe). We are looking at a Windows overhead and there doesn't seem to be anything we can do about it. I'm not sure how Windows locates the icons for files but I suspect it has to read the first few bytes of each .exe file to locate the embedded icon image. regards, Peter

Eric, You were complaining that you couldn't answer the first question. I told you where to find that answer. You've now answered it so now you can particicpate in the poll. regards, Peter
-
Eric, Check the settings on Project Options...Screen tab. That's where you'll find the Hardware Acceleration option. regards, Peter
-
Barbara, Have you turned off Hardware Acceleration on Project Options...Screen tab? When I do this I get fades instead of the Flip 3D. regards, Peter

The recent upgrade to v3.0.3 of the forum software seems to have solved this problem. I have just received three e-mails about posts into the Poll topic (ronniebootwest, xahu34 and bwat) and on logging into the forum and asking to View New Content the Poll topic appeared in the list. regards, Peter
-
The software doesn't regard your own posts as qualifying for "New Content" status. I think it assumes you know about those! And the only problem area for me is with the "Poll" topic that Igor started re Hardware Acceleration. regards, Peter

Eric, I think you've seen my show entitled "Kaleidoscope" haven't you? In that show each wheel was made up of twelve coloured segments, each of the segments being the child of the same transparent rectangle. So when the rectangle was panned, zoomed or rotated, all twelve segments moved in unison. In fact, on some of the slides I used one frame to control the rotation, another to control the panning and a third to control the zooming. regards, Peter

Pan/Zoom/Rotate/Center with your mouse
fh1805 replied to thedom's topic in Tutorials & Video Lessons
Dom, You've just taught this old dog a new trick! I didn't know that you could click on the words Pan, Zoom, Rotate and get back to defaults. There will be times when that will save a lot of work. Thanks for the Tips. regards, Peter
