  1. Thanks for the kind words Jeff. Yep, we are kindred spirits when it comes to "getting out there". I do hope that you get back to full-speed soon. You never know when I may load Trixie and my camera into the ol' pickup and point it southwesterly. Thanks again and take care. Dave
  2. Oh yes, I see now. Those pesky little prepositions! Keen eye Bill, and thanks. Dave
  3. Hello All - I've posted a new, and rather short, slideshow. It contains a few new techniques that I've learned, both in Photoshop and PTE. Hope you enjoy. Your comments and critiqure are appreciated. Regards, Dave http://www.epetersons.com/slideshows/Late%...rks%2803%29.zip
  4. Thanks Lin for the prompt response. I wondered what that "Rasterize Text to PNG" did. Now I know. Have a nice weekend. Dave
  5. I've been experiencing a small problem that someone may be able to shed some light on. When I create a slide that uses a text object from the "Objects and Animation" window, and select a particular font that I like, all is well until it's played on other people's computers. The font for the text that I selected has been replaced with a less attractive font. I assumed that the font I selected would be imbedded in the "exe" output, but apparently not so. Has anyone else expereinced this? Am I doing something wrong? Oh yes, I running PTE 5.11. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Regards, Dave
  6. Wow Michel! It makes me want to pull on my hiking boots, throw a pack over my shoulders, grab the dog and head out. A real joy to watch. Thanks for sharing with us. Regards, Dave
  7. An interesting and enjoyable slideshow Peter. I liked the mixture of transition effects and how you carefully timed them with the melody and beat of the music. Your voice was easy to understand and added to the show. However, the voice sounded as though it was coming from a barrel—a little too much echo. Your photographs were exceptionally clear with very nice compositions. It would have been even better for me if the pictures were much larger, like in the 1680 by xxxx range. You must have really enjoyed shooting these photographs. It looked like such a fun place to be. Thanks for sharing your work Peter. Regards, Dave
  8. I've posted a slideshow created in June-2008. It's simple and short, although I sized it for 1680 X 1050 resolution and did some digital blending on a few of the photographs to increase the dynamic range. Your impressions and suggestions are always welcome. Regards, Dave http://www.epetersons.com/slideshows/Seren...0Flinthills.zip
  9. Gary - I can't find the link to your slideshow. Dave
  10. Michel - I enjoyed your slideshow very much. The scenry and subsequent photography was spectacular, and the music was soothing and fitting. The pans were nice and easy and worked well. The was one extensive pan that was possible a series of stitched pictures. If so, well done. I also liked having pictures of people in the scenes--it makes it easier to relate to what I'm watching. The only suggestion for improvement (and you didn't ask for suggestions, so pardon my presumption) would be to use a less distraction transition when zooming in on ther flowers. A gentle disolved would look nice I think. All in all though, a most enjoyable show. I'll surely watch it many times. Regards, Dave
  11. Patrick, Just a brief note to say how much I enjoyed your show. The photography was stunning and most enjoyable to watch on a 22" widescreen monitor. Thanks for sharing your fine work. Dave
  12. I have come to expect your shows to be a cut above all others. You have not disappointed me here. The music secetion was great. Dave
  13. Hello Peter - I found your slideshow entertaining and informative. It had more of a documentary feel that something "poetic and moving", if that's the right way to say it. In otherwords, I wasn't moved, but I was informed. I did however really like your opening collage. I have a few suggestions that you may wish to consider. Some of the pictures are tilted and can be easily corrected. I thought a few of the shots were held too long; I was ready for the next picture. Also, there's room to improve on the motion shots. Unless you were delibertly trying to blurr the horses, freezing them in mid jump would have been nice. I realize though, you may been up againsts the limits of your camera for those light conditions. Continuing on that topic, all of the images seemed to need some sharpening. On my monitor, they looked a bit soft. Also, just as an idea, rather than catagorize the show into "Horses", "Characters", etc., I think it would have enlarged the experience to intermix them to continue reinforcing the total context of the show. All in all though, I'm glad i watched it. Keep shooting and showing us your work. Regards, Dave
  14. Please accept a belated thank you for all of your comments. They are certainly appreciated. Dave
  15. Here is a new slideshow capturing my son's maiden flight home in his 1941 Piper Cub. He took me up for some shots of our family farms. I put considerable time in this show, working with the many elements trying to create the sensation of flight. I only had limited success and soon realized that there is only so much you can do with still photographs and eventually have to move to digital video. I do hope you'll take the time to go up with us. Enjoy the flight and feel free to offer your comments. Regards, Dave http://www.epetersons.com/slideshows/Brian...ome%2803%29.zip
  16. Paul - Very relaxing and enjoyable. Soothing music with great pictures--I enjoyed it. Dave
  17. Beautifully different. Awesome! Dave
  18. It's been rather slow on the forum lately, so I thought a new slideshow would liven things up a bit. This show is a personal documentary of a canoe/camping trip taken in the upper part of Minnesota with my dog Trixie and my son-in-law Kurt. The show won't be for everyone and it's not "professionally" done to suit a large audience. However, I think the outdoor types will enjoy it. Comments are always welcome, good or constructive. You can download it from this link: http://www.epetersons.com/slideshows/Lake%20Vermilion.zip Regards, Dave
  19. Very, very nice Phil. I think the composition of your photographs is certainly noteworthy. Dave
  20. What a great way to begin my weekend with four new slideshows to watch. First off, let me say that I really enjoyed all four shows. It does my heart good to see a man and his family out in the beautiful outdoors. It appears that you have upgraded your camera based on the improvements from the Wind River show. Man, you’ve the eye and now coupled with a good camera; you just have many very nice photographs. If I may make a suggestion regarding presentation, the varied formats distracted me. I liked the 1280 x 853 size the best, especially when showing landscapes. Also, some titles and music credits would have given them a more professional feel. Again, great job. Thanks for sharing your talents and send us some more. Regards, Dave
  21. Well Barry, you’ve done it again! Another exceptional AV. Your show coming on the heels of much interesting discussion about image quality reminds me of the saying: “A picture is worth a thousand words.” You have made your point about image quality very succinctly with this slideshow. I also liked how you overlapped the two pieces of music rather than have a gap of silence or abrupt change during the transition. And of course, the image quality was exceptional. Your work is our gold standard as far as I’m concerned. Your shows continue to inspire me to do better. I need to move from the mode of taking a trip and taking a few pictures if convenient to one of taking a trip to take great pictures. Thanks for the inspiration. Dave
  22. Hello John - I watched your video sequence and wanted you to know that I enjoyed it very much. You captured some beautiful pictures and selected some music that really gave it a Scotish flavor. Well done. One little thing that would improve it some: it seemed a bit dark on my monitor. And when it's a bit dark on a Dell Ultrasharp, that says there's some room to lighten it up a bit. (That is, unless you intended for it to appear as under exposed.) Keep in mind that the darkness is just my viewing experience, and just my suggestion. It will be interesting to hear what other say about this issue. All in all though, a most enjoyable show. You were traveling in some beautiful country. Regards, Dave
  23. Hello John – I really enjoyed your show. The images were beautiful and the music fitting. I especially enjoyed The Scottish Fiddle Orchestra. I’m saving this show for my wife; she’ll love it! If you don’t mind, I have a few suggestions. There were the ones already mentioned by others: the small picture, hiding the arrow, and the last slide frame stayed around too long. I noticed a few other little things too. The last slide seems fuzzy and the slide with the wharf has a tilt to it. Regarding the pans, I agree with Barry in that it interrupted the flow because it was too fast, and maybe too long. I noticed you were using the “smooth” mode on the animation. Looking at the accelerating landscape through a frame was reminiscent of looking out the window of an airplane on takeoff. I think a pan would work here, but it just needs to be more gradual. And while we are on pans, there was at least one occasion where you had back-to-back pans. I think it would be helpful to have some stills in between the pans. Also, there was one zoom in that didn’t seem to serve any purpose. I have to laugh at myself for giving all of this advice regarding pans and zooms. My own shows have received more critiques on the misuse of pans and zooms than anything else. One last suggestion: it would have helped break up the landscapes a bit if you could have used closer pictures of the few houses you showed, or anything things else indigenous to the area. I hope you take the suggestions in the spirit they were given, that is, to be helpful. All in all, I really enjoyed the show John. I do hope you’ll keeping making more shows and sharing them with us. Best regards, Dave
  24. Hello Patrick , Let's begin with an overall impression: very nice! My wife and I both watched it and we both enjoyed it very much. I liked your description of the light on the first day as being "violent". Well said. Nevertheless, you did a masterful job with the exposures. I especially liked how you transitioned from the bright contrasty sun on the first day to the fog the following day. You expertly shifted the mood via the music and it, let's just say, it was special. My wife thought there wasn't enough time allowed for the pictures taken with the sun. There was a lot going on in the scenes and a little more time may have helped. However, I thought you were timing the slides with the beat of the music, which was a nice upbeat type tune. A nice touch may have been some closeup shots of the bicycles. Have you ever seen so many bicycles in a modern city? Impressive. Overall, very enjoyable. I hope you take many more little trips and show us the world you see. Reagrds, Dave
  25. Barry - I'm especially slow in thanking you for your helpful comments. You are the gold standard of the slideshows that I've seen, so I value your input. Thanks for your help Barry. Have a nice day. Dave
