  1. Hi, Problem solved! It was all to do with Internet Options and default programs. Internet Explorer was not selected and therefore could not open web page specified. Now working on both x32 bit and x64 bit systems. Thanks to those currently wondering what the problem was. Tony
  2. Hi Yatchsman, I notice you use Run Application or Open File as opposed to Open Web Page. I have just tried this on my Xp laptop and still no success. Not sure what the problem is but really woulde like to solve this one. Tony
  3. Hi, Just as a further comment, I have tried to carry out the same exercise on my Windows Xp laptop and have the same problem. Pressing the button does not access the internet but there is no message re application and filename extension. Is there some setting which may be preventing this action? Tony
  4. Hi, I am trying to set up a button or text in Objects and Animations which will open up a web page. Using a Windows 7 x32bit system this seems to work OK but will not work on a x64 bit system. Can anyone help please. Tony
  5. Does anyone know if it is possible to clone several keypoints together. Perhaps it would make it clearer if I say I would like to keep a clock pendulum on screen ticking to a regular beat. Therefore, once I have set up say half-a-dozen keypoints it would be very useful to copy and paste them for the duration the ticking of the clock which could be on screen for a couple of minutes or more. I know it is possible to clone individual keypoints but can't seem to find a way to clone more than one at a time. Hope that makes sense. TC
  6. Hi Colin, Thanks for the stroll down memory lane. Some great reminders of the past and yes, I do remeber the words! Would love to know where you took all the images. Was it a museum of some description, if so it is obviously worth a visit. Many thanks TC
  7. Hi John, I am just about in the same position. My Mac arrives next week. I will be contacting Adobe to transfer my CS5 Windows license to a Mac license and I guess the fun will begin then. The guy at the shop tells me files must be stored in a certain way so as to be accessible on both Windows ans Mac platforms so I will need to get this sorted out pretty quicky. Will keep my eye on this topic and hope to learn from the experts! All the best TC
  8. Hi Davy, Well done a great reminder of how fortunate we are. All the best TC
  9. Hi Peter, Details also available and booking form at: Leeds AV Group All the best TC
  10. Hi Maureen et al, I have seen various discussions/emails re resolution/aspect ratio/image size and there is still no standard or clarity for those involved in competition work. As sequences tend to be fairly lengthy in terms of obtaining images and production then organisers should be offering some guidance on this. As modern digital SLR cameras use a 3:2 format consideration must be given to the composition of the image when taking the photograph as cropping will occur if using either the 4:3, 5:4 or the wide screen format. However, I am interested to know a little more about the 1920 x 1080 projectors, what distance does it have to be from the screen to fill it. Now I know that that depends on the size of the screen but understand that at a recent competition one of these projectors had to moved to the back of the hall before the image was any where near large enough due to the throw of the lens as even at full zoom the image was too small when closer to the screen. If this is the case then would they be suitable for say small club rooms where they would more regularly be used. As always technology marches on and I guess this discussion will rear its head again in the future. Interesting reading as always All the best TonyC
  11. Hi, Don't know if this will help but it is worth a look: http://camstudio.org/ All the best Tony
  12. Hi Brian, Thanks for the reply. 3:2 is also the 35mm camera format and we have some members who prefer to use this format and are reluctant to crop. As a result we project some sequences with a black band at the top and bottom. Hence the need to ensure they are produced at the correct size to fill the width of the screen without re-sizing upwards and therefore giving some degredation of the images. Interesting topic though. All the best Tony
  13. Hi Xaver, Thanks for the info. I will do some experimenting with the settings in PTE as suggested and then project the various options to see what is on the screen. It seems that if the images are larger than 1400 x 1050 then the projected image will be down-sized to 1400 x 1050 giving a full screen image without any of the original images being cropped in the process. Also by utilising the method you suggest a similar effect will result. As we are currently producing at 1024 x 768 it would appear from earlier posts that the image will automatically up-size with a resulting degredation of the images. To what extent will need to be looked at closely. We will also need to consider individuals who use a 3 x 2 aspect ratio to ensure the full width of the images are shown albeit with a blank strip at the top and bottom. All the best Tony
  14. Hi All, Thanks for all your info. It's a shame the "Virtual Size Of Slide" doesn't do what I thought it might. Maybe this function could be incorporated, if practical/possible, in a future update. The way forward now seem much clearer and with a little more experimentation we should be able to come up with suitable recommendations for future sequences. Tony Life was all so different before everything changed!
  15. Hi Peter/Brian, Again thank you for your responses. However, I am still not sure of the purpose of "Virtual Size Of Slide". Am I correct in assuming that if a sequence produced in PTE5.6 has imported images of 2560 x 1925 used with the Project Options>Screen "Virtual Size Of Slide" set to 1400 x 1050 these will project Full Screen with no Up-Sizing or Down-Sizing when projected using a 1400 x 1050 projector. Is this the purpose of "Virtual Size Of Slide"? Tony
  16. Hi Dave, Thanks for the response. My question really I suppose is to do with the quality of the images if projected with a higher resolution projector. For example if a 1024 X 768 sequence is projected using a 1400 x 1050 projector the images it may be resized but there will be some degredation or, does it leave a black border around the projected images?. However, if the sequence is re-created in PTE5.6 using the "Virtual Size Of Slide" at 1400 x 1050 will the quality be maintained and full screen images projected? If the "Virtual Size Of Slide" is not for this purpose, what is it's function? We project several sequences in a show and therefore need consistency in the way the sequences are created. We do not want to see some sequences with black borders all the way round and others filling the screen. Hope this all makes sense. Tony
  17. Brian, Perhaps it may be possible to extend this discussion to include digital projectors. Our club has recently purchased a Canon SX60 which has a resolution of 1400 x 1050 and my understanding of the "Virtual Size Of Slide" in PTE Project Options>Screen tab allows larger images to be placed into PTE5.6 but with a preset size for actual viewing/showing. In other words it appears that shows can be created at 1024 x 768 from the project file today using images which are say, 2560 x 1920 but are future proofed by re-creating the show from the project file at a future date by increasing the preset "Virtual Size Of Slide" thus creating the same show giving full screen presentation when using a higher resolution projector/screen. Obviously aspect ratio will have to be the same if a full screen image is to be projected (4:3). Have I got this right? Tony
  18. Hi Igor/LumenLux, Thank you for your replies. I will see if the problem can be resolved with updated drivers. All the best Tony
  19. Hi Lin, The mouse-over "hand icon" appears in 5.5 if you use it on text but does not appear when using a button. I have just run a show tonight using this facility. Tony
  20. Hi Igor, Thanks for the reply. I now think the problem may be to do with the video drivers as I get the same effect starting the sequences from within a folder. It is not a high frequency flicker just a single momentary black screen and then back to the folder sceen and then the sequence begins. It is probably only a fraction of a second but is definitely visible. The problem only occurs on my laptop and not on the desktop computer. Many thanks Tony
  21. Igor, I believe there is a bug in 5.6. When an "action on mouse click" has been created with a text or button there is no "mouse over" recognition when running as an exe file or in preview mode. ie The cursor remains the same and does not change to identify the designated action. Or as I put it in a post with Peter, "the fist with the pointed finger" does not appear when the cursor is placed over the button or text.. Hope this helps All the best Tony
  22. Hi Torin, Have you downloaded the user manual from WnSoft website? I think you will find the information you require there. Tony
  23. Hi Peter, Re the fist. In 5.5 and before if youset up an action such as launch an application when you moved the mouse cursor over it a fist with the pointing finger appeared to let you know there was an action associated with it. In 5.6 the fist does not appear therefore unless you are aware of such an action you would not be able to find it. All you have is the normal arrow cursor. I guess the antivirus is the next thing to check, I hadn't thought of that one. And yes I am running Xp not Vista. All the best Tony
  24. Hi Peter, I have produced the menu in 5.6 and that does not flicker when started. However as the sequences are from differen tauthors and different versions of PTE, I have no way of creating each sequences in 5.6. I actually tried theRun Slideshow and got the "must be created in 5.6" message. I am still bewildered though why this only occurs on the laptop computer and not the desktop. Also the disappearing fist seems to be a bit of a loss in 5.6. Perhaps this might be fixed in a later version. Thanks for your help. Tony
  25. Hi Peter, I am runnung from a menu. However, I have now discovered the same thing happens from the desktop. Essentially there is a little blip when the screen goes to black and back to the menu screen or desktop whichever I am running from. In PTE for the menu removing graphic acceleration seems to improve it slightly. This is something new it doesn't happen on the main computer only on the laptop. I have used this method before without the problem so I'm not sure what is causing the problem. By the way in 5.6 the fist seems to have dissappeared for running files from text in a menu sequence. Have you noticed this? All the best Tony
