Eric, I would recommend to learn the two keyboard combinations (control+c, control+v) for copy and paste. They work almost everywhere, even if no menus are at hand. Best regards, Xaver Munich
-
Eric, Mark the text which you want to copy (e.g. in some document), type "control c" (press keys simultaneously), activate the comment box, type "control v" (or use the right mouse button). Regards, Xaver

Ray, dadou For the translation of "cale" and a short but precise description of the cale-method, see also here (post #38 in this thread). Best regards, Xaver Munich

Cèlou, I 'm sorry to say that I am not sure what you want to say. Please send me your message in French. I can ask a French colleague of mine for a translation into German. Best regards, Xaver Munich

Hello Jean-Pierre, In the meantime I had some time to look at your proposal. In principle, I do agree with your method, at least in the question for the need of (as you call it) the "virtual object" and the "nominal format", see also my remarks here. I'm not sure, if all users would like it if "fit" and "cover" would be canceled. Here I think of users who do not care that much for 100% precise placement of objects, and who do not want to count pixels when resizing images. It is impossible for me to argue on Igor's remark that the original mode causes trouble. In order to make a statement on this subject, I would need to see a precise specification of this mode: How to place a child in original mode into its parent (having its own mode), and how to deal with PZR-parameters. But I do not consider this to be my job. Best regards, Xaver Munich

Dave, This is not completely true. In 5.6 all real children objects can be placed relative to the original pixel dimensions of their direct parents; so in my eyes you can do similar things as you could do with original mode. But: The objects on the top level have the actual monitor as their parent, which means that their pixel coordinates depend on the computer on which the user is working, and they can change if the user replaces the monitor, or if he continues working on another machine. This is not a good concept. So it would be good to have a "virtual monitor" on top level with a user defined resolution, and with options how this virtual monitor should be mapped to the real monitor. Possible options can be seen in JPD's well known post #82. There may be workarounds by using a dummy object as a root object for all others (not very elegant in my opinion). Best regards, Xaver Munich

Hello all, I think that the request for original mode has been heard, it has been repeated many times. I don't think that there is a need for putting permanent pressure on the development team. I'm glad to notice that at least Peter's head remains cool. Best regards, Xaver Munich

Dear colleagues from France, we all know that a particular French group of PTE users would like it, if WnSoft would maintain the Original Mode. I think that there is no further need to organize still more forum members in order to repeat this particular request again and again. Best regards, Xaver Munich

Image optimization for screen size

Coilin, This is actually what I would like to do, to develop the shows with full-size images, having a slide show tool which automatically adapts the projects to the actual monitor resolution, and which allows to create exe-files for user defined resolutions. If you ever developed a show for several monitors/projectors with different resolutions, you would like to get rid of the repeated re-sampling business. Best regards, Xaver Munich -

Hello Umberto, I made a similar proposal here, but nobody seemed to be interested in this feature, although it works well with m.objects. Best regards, Xaver Munich -

Daniel, I fear that we, the oppressed minorities, have to live with the problem of translations which are not first class. I myself prefer the English version, as it normally provides a maximum in clarity. Best regards, Xaver Munich -

Peter, Thank you for making this point clear. Just a remark: Only recently, I was told that the winner of last year's Diaporama Supercircuit has left the PTE community because of missing audio features. Best regards, Xaver Munich -

Peter, I think that the given methods of adding music to slides should be canceled. It would be better to have several parallel audio tracks (with volume control - envelope function as in Audacity) on each of which you can place several audio clips. Best regards, Xaver -
Just an additional remark: You can make copies of your images and apply the free stripper application (http://www.steelbytes.com/?mid=30), and remove the exif data, leaving the image data unchanged. These copies will not possess any dpi values. Your projector will not care for this fact. Regards, Xaver Munich

How to make PicturesToExe more simple and intuitive?

Hello all, I like most of the suggestions made by Peter (fh1805), and it seems to make sense to tidy up the user interface, in particular the structure of buttons and menus, in a way that it is helpful for beginners. I have doubts that it is manageable for a small company to maintain two product lines as proposed by Ifa and others. I myself do not consider PTE to be that complex, and regarding complexity it should not be compared with Photoshop, which has hundreds of functions whose co-operation is not clear to a beginner. I agree with Ifa that PTE should grow with new professional features added when needed. Although not a feature of my interest, I think that sooner or later we’ll see video objects as parts of slide shows, as in m.objects and Wings Platinum. Maybe it’s possible to combine mini-player and O&A window. Best regards, Xaver Munich -
By the way, the word "beamer" seems to be used only in the Dutch and in the German language areas. Regards, Xaver

Hello, There seems to be something wrong with JPD's post no. 82. Firefox stops showing this thread with post 82 (in standard disply mode), and does not show posts 83 and the ones following. This post has been written with IE. Best regards, Xaver Munich

John, as far as I know: Using PTE, you develop and export your shows under Windows. Shows exported as exe-files only run under Windows. Shows exported as videos (MPEG-4 etc.) can be used on a Mac. Best regards, Xaver Munich

Umberto, I'm sorry to say that onboard graphics typically is not recommend for slide show programs performing hardware rendering like PTE, m.objects, or Wings Platinum. Best regards, Xaver Munich
