JRR, I was just looking at GMail which is put out by Google. It's free and allows up to 1 gigabite of storage and large file transfers. It's getting good reviews in the press. I haven't tried it yet. Bubba

Greetings, I know I read this in the forum somewhere but couldn't find it again. I couldn't find it on the Dom's site either. Anyone who can help I would appreciate it. I want to add a template from the Dom's website to a partially completed project. For some reason I can't get this to work. And vice versa, I couldn't get the photos I have lined up in a certain order on my show (in the slide list) to copy to the template slide list either (the envelope template). Thank you, Bubba

Cor, It is only possible with the 'source file templates' (.pte files) of course. Yes it's not very creative but that's my point. If some folks (like myself) are in a hurry and would like a creative slideshow, it would be nice to simply use someone else's masterpiece as the template. I still plan to work on the art of making good slideshows but an easy way out occassionally would be nice. Especially with some of the amazing shows others have posted. Regarding switching photos: I've tested it and it looks good to me. I imagine it may not work easily with some special effects that are made outside of P2E (like the great show by JPD called "Verailles)." Thanks, Bubba

thedome, Maybe it can't be done but this is what I'd like to see: -viewing someone's slideshow then if I like the show's transitions, special effects, etc., be able to simply switch out the photos and music to fit my taste. In other words, I can see what the slideshow looks like and don't need written explanations. Short demos are nice and can be reused in my own projects but being able to simply re-use a full slideshow with my own photos would be ideal for me. The only text that would probably help would be things such as how many photos are needed and any special needs for photos such as a specific size. Again, thank you for your help. I'm willing to assist if needed. Bubba

Drury, I added my own pictures then changed there names to the slide names TheDom used (ie. "REPLACE PIC01_Landscape.jpg"). You will have to change the original names of TheDom's images to save them in the same folder. Also, I see two landscape images (yellow "PIC 01" and aqua PIC 02") from TheDom. The portrait is the blue "PIC 02". However, I just noticed TheDom's posting (on page 2 of this thread) of his method of changing photos and it is even easier. So either way works. Bubba

The Dom, Your help is much appreciated. I'm glad this idea seems to show some promise. Your work and all the others (i.e. Al, Ken, Ronniebootwest, etc) is what makes P2E so much greater. I'll also try to help test as my limited skills and time permit. Bubba

I believe some kind P2E members are willing to share their hard work on their projects. I know I need to learn to do the effects myself but sometimes I get a little lazy. I also admire and enjoy the great shows others have put out. My request is this: please share your source files. With these others should be able to relatively simply change the photos in the project and probably the music and have a great slideshow. P2E beta 5 is new and not many full size shows have been made so far. But as we all learn, the results are a big leap forward in what is possible. The Dom has a place to share these (http://thefreedom.free.fr/share/) and I have experimented a little using them with my own photos. I don't know if any one else has a website to share them. I simply renamed my photos to the name the original author had named his. I checked the properties of the original photos and resized mine to match. The music can easily be changed to what I have or want. So far most of the source file shows are short demos though. I feel a little guilty using someone else's templates/source files but I know those who shared must have expected others to use them. I would like to complete a couple vacation slideshows and using the templates would make it easy until I can master the techniques in the new version of P2E. And let's face it, many folks, including myself sometimes, simply would like an easy and quick way to produce interesting sideshows without the steep learning curve. My sincere thanks to those sharing their shows and source files. Bubba

wawatson, Your link brought me to your EXE file. This played fine on my computer. I think you're referring to the flicker on you SVCD or DVD version of the show (AVI to MPEG). I noticed in my shows some of the same problems with SVCD and to lesser extent my DVD versions. I don't have a TV with an S Video connection. I wonder if the flicker disappears when played on a newer high quality DVD player using a better quality connection to the TV? Anyone know? Bubba

jongru2, Sounds like the older computer can't handle the demands a slideshow with music is putting on it. I sometimes test my slideshows on an old pc and have the same problems. Not enough RAM and processing power, etc. You'll see elsewhere on this forum some general rules that can maximize the chances the slideshow will work on most computers: -use MP3 music files not WAV files. You can convert music files with various free software. -keep you picture sizes less than 200 kb (generally 100 to 200 kb). Again, there is free software available to do this. Even then, it is unlikely the computer you describe will play most slideshows with music. Bubba

jongru2, P2E is a slideshow creation software program. As Ken said, the term movie is what most people use to describe the process where your slideshow is converted to a format so it can be watched on TV via a DVD player. The format is a "avi" file. This is the same format many movies are in so people refer to as a movie file. So with P2E you can create a slideshow that can be viewed on computers (the "exe" file) or played on TV after it is converted to an "avi" file. They look the the same on either for the most part. Generally the computer screen "exe" file will be a slightly higher visual quality compared to most TV's. It is quick and relatively easy to create the "exe" computer version of your slideshows. Converting it to an "avi" file so you can watch it on a TV takes more time and additional software. There is a lot of info on this part of the forum about this. Hope this helps, Bubba

Glassers, There is a way to do this in P2E also. There are other threads on this topic somewhere. Here is how I do it: -use a photo editing program to make your pictures smaller if needed (many of us use a free program called "IrfanView"). This way your photos won't take up the whole screen. -use a one pixel photo or just a low resolution photo of a solid color (usually black or white) as you first slide in the series involving the multiple pictures. This will be your blank background picture that fits the entire screen. -use the "Object Editor" button option (lower right) to bring up the object editor screen for your blank picture. Use the add picture icon (upper left) to add the smaller photos. Move them around as needed. -copy and paste this picture (it will have the same name as the first). Again use the "Object Editor" to add or subtract photos to your blank background. -repeat the above until you have the multiple pictures fading in or out on the same background. You can use the "Customize Slide" button option (lower right) to try different transitions. Hope this helps. Bubba

Michel, Could you please provide a little information on how you do this? I recently purchased a DVD writer but haven't installed it yet. I assume the panorama effect works only in DVD slideshow versions are does it also work in SVCD versions? Your expertise is always appreciated. Bubba

Greetings. I am thinking of buying a DVD burner. My SVCD's look pretty good on a TV. Sometimes the menus don't work but I think this is due to my DVD player. Of course DVD-R's are more expensive than CD-R's which is one draw back. My question is this: What has been your experience with burning P2E slideshows to DVD as compared to SCVD? Is the quality better? Is compatibility with DVD players better? Do the menus work consistently? etc. Thanks in advance. Bubba

Bruman, I assume you have the software to create Flash or Swish files. You can get the older versions of Swish fairly cheap if don't have any software. The newest version called SwishMax costs about $100. I'm new to this program and learning how to use it in P2E also. Do a search on 'Flash' and you'll get some information. Boxig has a good utility called "FlashVideoExe" that I've used in computer versions of P2E shows. You have to 'Export' (under file>export) the flash/swish file (I use Swish software) as a 'swf' file. Then put this file in the same group as your P2E exe slideshow along with the Autorun file and Boxig's FlashVideoExe program file then burn them onto a CD. I've had mixed success trying to get Flash intros to work on SVCD's that will play on my DVD player. I need help in this area. I'll be watching for others replys to your question so I can learn more too. I'm sure others can explain it better.

I got to the WNSOFT site but noticed it only has the 4.12 version available which was released in September. Weird.

It worked! Thank you NoBeefStu for your idea and Techman1 for your input. Here's what I did to get rid of the pause between the Flash into and the main PTE show: 1. Create PTE show with one black photo (I named it BlackStart). Use Project Options to set "close show after last slide". Use the Customize Slide button to set the time to slightly more than the length of your Flash intro file. Also set Run External Application to start Boxig's FlashVideoExe. 2. Add this black slide PTE show to the same folder as the Autorun, FlashVideoExe, Flash intro file and the main PTE show. Also remember to change the autorun line to the name of your one slide PTE start show (ie BlackStart).
