  1. Why not just hold the last slide of each chapter on the screen at the end of the program, add a button that takes you back to the menu slide? Seems like one click would solve your issue.
  2. I voted for GE Force 5200 but the card is labeled "GeForce FX 5200". Not sure if the "FX" makes a difference to you or not.
  3. I had a similar problem in that a DVD presentation would play beautifully on the laptop screen but would not project anything but a black rectangle. I found that if I toggled the laptop screen off then the show projected as desired. I figured it was due to limited system resources but really have no idea why it would not project with the laptop screen set to "on".
  4. I have operated on the belief that sound file formats are similar to image file formats. That is, that WAV format and MP3 formats are similar to TIFF and JPG image formats. WAV is uncompressed and does not lose quality with successive encoding. MP3 is a compressed format and would lose quality with repetitive encoding. I thought the safest way to build a PTE program was to use the sound format desired in the end product. For me, that is MP3. I build my shows using MP3 and adjust synchronization to meet my needs. I never worried about any change in sound length due to conversion to another sound format. Brian... is my assumption that opening a PTE file many times to make adjustments will not degrade the MP3 file being used in the program? I can see how successive encoding of an MP3 file might degrade the quality but I don't see how working in PTE over several iterations would result in a sound quality loss. PTE isn't editing either the image files or the sound file... it is simply organizing them. Any thoughts? Thanks very much. Bruce McCammon
  5. Did you burn the Proshow Gold movie with Ulead as well?
  6. I'm guessing you installed PTE under your user account in XP. If you install it as an administrator it should work for any user account. Another circumstance might be that when you installed PTE you were asked if you wanted to make the program accessible to all users or just the current user. If you missed this then it could result in being accessible to only you and not to other user accounts. My guess is that if you reinstall PTE under the Administrator account you'll be just fine. Good luck.
  7. Give a look at www.beckhamdigital.co.uk
  8. I've never had any issues with X-ray scans using compact flash memory or the Epson P2000 portable hard disk. Some advice for film shooters that I thought made sense was to not only ask (insist?) on hand inspection of certain baggage but to make the job easy for the inspectors. The advice was to NOT put the film in lead bags but to remove it from the cardboard boxes and have the film canisters in clear, open view for the inspector. There's always the risk that they will still shove your bag through the x-ray but if you ask nicely and tell them that you've tried to make it easy for them to hand inspect certain content they may be more willing to take the time. Every negotiation is personality dependent, of course.
  9. One procedure that works in CS2 (with IrfanView) is to save your file as a GIF in CS2, open it in IrfanView and then save it as an ICO file. Seems to work for me.
  10. I have a Dell 6000 laptop that runs at 1680x1050 resolution and an Infocus LP600 projector that has a native 1024x768 resolution. The cool thing is that when I hook up the projector the laptop automatically resizes to 1024x768. For once Windows XP seems to be an automated helper and I don't have to resize the laptop prior to projection. I have yet to try setting the projector to a high resolution but understand that it is possible. Since my shows are sized to 1024x768 it has not been an issue for me to this point.
  11. You can navigate to your image directory by using the drive icons in the upper left of the PTE screen. Once you get to the directory with your images it is a matter of clicking on the file you want and clicking the add button. You can drag the file from the directory tree to the PTE bin if you prefer. Good luck.
  12. Make a slide that is pure black in an image editor, fade to the black slide, hold the last slide on the screen
  13. downloaded for me just fine.... < 5 sec on cable modem
  14. How about a simple request to show the total time for all slides when the time for each is set using "customize slide" and specifying a time in "use own time preference"?
  15. You are not alone. Over time, I've had several problems running programs that others are running and discussing. I am sure that it is a consequence of some local setting in my computer but even with a brand new machine, running with large memory and high speeds, some of the programs stall or don't load. Who knows why? I doubt anyone can sort out all the weird details to find the answer. I'm still trying to find a pattern of programs that fail to work based on the author of the program. Maybe their machine configuration and the PTE compilation create an exe that results in failure to run at my end. Like I say, who knows?
  16. For me, the decision to jump to a 6+ megapixel camera was based on the fact that I could use interchangeable lenses rather than the "fixed" zoom on any of the 5 mp cameras.
