  1. I got one as well. I'm glad that "delete" still works.
  2. You might browse through this linked thread. There are some embedded links in the thread that will give you a great deal of information. Good luck. http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/606842/0#5343649
  3. For my purposes the limited access period is not an issue. I'm just transferring files and not storing them forever.
  4. I use www.yousendit.com all the time. Very reliable and effective. Good luck
  5. Why don't you add the 20 seconds of music to the beginning of the soundtrack that will play during the rest of the show (slides 7-....)? You could then add one single music track to the "project options" panel for music. You can download a free sound editor, Audacity, that will allow you to make the combination of sound files. Good luck.
  6. I don't have any idea why PTE won't handle them but my question is "why do you want 25mb files to begin with?"
  7. Are you trying to open and run a PTE file on a second computer? If you "create slideshow" or "create slideshow as" on the original machine it will create a .exe file that will run on any Windows machine. If you are trying to "run" a PTE file on a second machine without PTE being installed it clearly won't work. Good luck.
  8. I don't find the inclusion of quotes nearly as obtrusive or awkward as others responding to this thread. Brian's suggestion may help ease the angst but sometimes the person responding wants to keep their comments in context of the original text. If a lengthy quote bothers me I just scroll on. Sorry, I just don't see it as being that big of a deal.
  9. IS or VR won't help at all for subject motion. Higher shutter speeds - meaning higher ISO - are key to stopping subject movement. If you are hand holding the camera (no monopod or tripod) then VR/IS will definitely help reduce blur caused by camera movement. The Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 VR lens is consistently rated at or near the top of lenses in that class. Mine is an absolute workhorse and is used extensively in almost every shoot I do. It is worth the money. Congratulations on the D300 purchase. Best regards, Bruce
  10. My grayscale conversion was done in Photoshop CS3 and worked just like yours did Lin. Bruce
  11. I'm using version 5.1 and the problem doesn't exist. Grayscale images are brought in perfectly.
  12. Hi Igor. I will try to scan the article and send you a copy. Bruce
  13. The December 2007 issue of Professional Photographer, published by Professional Photographers of America, contains an article about a variety of slideshow software ("Emotions on Display - Presentation Software", pp 48-55). PicturesToExe is the first product described in the list of 5 different software products. The description of PTE is quite good and favorable. I am always gratified to see PTE mentioned in a credible publication. This type of review may help many photographers explore the capabilities of PTE and find a place for it in their workflow. I just thought Igor and the forum might like to know about the recent exposure that PTE got to a very broad audience in the US. Happy Holidays... Bruce
  14. You could always try making a short slideshow and test the "ESC" from preview without the potential for waiting 35 minutes. At least it would give you confidence that the ESC key is working (or not). I've never had a problem with it working. Good luck.
  15. Sometimes I amaze myself! You'd really think that with all the hours I've spent with PTE that I would be able to see (and use) options that are clearly right in front of me. No, I did not realize that with a simple check in the "rasterize to PNG" box that I could achieve what I wanted. I really did think that I had to go out to Photoshop to create the PNG files and then import them... hence my reply. Thanks JEB for being so kind in your reply to teach this old dog some new tricks. Your advice and tone are much appreciated. Best regards, Bruce
  16. Thanks LIn and Igor. I understand that I can make PNG files of the text I want to display but that is sure more time consuming than just working with the Text tool in the Object/Animation screen. I'm glad to hear that the "fix" is on the list of things to do. I can surely make do until the "problem" is resolved. Thanks again.
  17. I'm using PTE version 5.1 beta 10 (although the problem exists on other betas as well). I built a simple 6 slide show and added a caption using the Text tool in the Objects and Animation editor. Each caption uses a different font. the slideshow plays perfectly on the machine that created the show... both in PTE's preview and when using START/RUN and selecting the .exe file. No surprises. When I transfer the .exe file to a laptop on a thumbdrive and play it the only captions that show up with the proper font are the ones which use fonts on the laptop. If the font does not exist on the laptop it looks like the font defaults to Arial or somesuch. Is this a known problem? What's the point of using fonts in creation of a program if they don't transfer with the .exe when it is distributed via CD or thumbdrive? It sure doesn't seem that I had this problem with previous versions of PTE. Thanks for any insights or suggestions?
  18. PTE version 5.1 beta 4 problem. When I click on File/Save the program closes immediately. No matter what I have done prior to clicking on "save" the program closes. It does save any changes made but closing is new behavior. Another problem that I can not replicate: earlier today the scroll bar below the thumbnail images of files that are in the program locked up and would not let me scroll back to the files at the beginning of the show. The "locking scroll bar" problem seems to have disappeared but it was replaced by the immediate closing when "File/Save" are clicked. I'll be developing my show in version 5.0.
  19. This is a topic that gets a lot of air time in a variety of forums and never seems to get resolved. Some folks have very strong feelings about the illegality of using commercial music for slideshows that get released for public viewing. Other people think it's just fine to use any music you have purchased. A good analogy might be if you went to a slideshow at your local camera club and found one or more of your images incorporated in the show and knowing full well that they were lifted off your internet site. There are countless examples of websites and "published" slideshows that clearly are using commercial music. Does that make it right? Personally, I don't think so. With the wide variety of royalty free music available, both for purchase and for free, I don't know why anyone would risk infringement by using copyrighted work for shows that are given (or sold) for use outside your home. Sure, you'll lose the mainstream songs that make it easier to have a succesful show but there are wonderful sources of royalty free music available. My choice is to use royalty free music that I have purchased and have yet to have a client (or friend) reject the show. My $0.02 worth and I'm sure you'll get a lot of varied opinions. Good luck.
  20. Another option to resize multiple files in Photoshop is to use the Image Processor found under File/Scripts in Photoshop or Tools/Photoshop in Bridge. I like to use Bridge to select the images you want processed, set the size and quality in the Image Processor window along with an output location and color space. Then just click "go" and wait while the process does its magic and puts the resultant files into a JPG directory in your chosen output area. Good luck.
  21. Glad you got good results, Andre. In fairness, I did not provide you the test that gave you good results... Brian Conflow is the source for the info you used. He is a great resource to this forum and offers a deep technical background and experience in his replies. Like you, I learn from him frequently. Good luck! Bruce
  22. I know that the colors on my Panasonic LCD HD TV look great when viewing programs created in PTE v5. There is a HUGE difference in the way that any commercial DVDs are prepared... much more expensive and intricate machines are used to burn the commercial DVDs. I don't know how to advise you but suspect that someone like Conflow will chime in with some ideas or observations that may make a difference for you. Good luck... and keep sharing your story so we can all benefit as you learn.
  23. What color space are your images in... Adobe RGB (1998), sRGB, ProPhoto? That may be some of your problem. For general use I think that sRGB creates the least amount of issues with color when viewed on the web or on a DVD. Keep in mind that I'm color blind so listen to other advice you'll receive before listening to me. Good luck.
  24. No. The converter I bought converts an MPEG file to WMV, AVI, MOV. It does NOT convert a PTE file directly. Sorry!
