  1. Great News Igor. Many Thanks for all your hard work. Can't wait to try the new features. Best Wishes Maureen
  2. I have a dual graphics card and frequently construct my sequences with PTE, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Audition open at the same time. I can have PTE open on one monitor and then if I feel I need to edit an image or a piece of soundtrack I will go and do it on the other monitor. I have no problem and find it works well for me. Haven't tried the projector on one and software on the other. Hope this helps. BW Maureen
  3. Thanks Michel Have managed to link to an avatar! Best wishes Maureen
  4. Good to keep hearing your news Harry. You're in our thoughts & prayers. Keep as relaxed and stressfree as you can. Maybe playing with PTE and making a new sequence might help. Take care, and safe journey home. Best wishes Maureen
  5. I too had major problems accessing the pages but I'm delighted to be able to view everything again now Thank You all for your hard work delivering a "new baby" Forum for us all. We are always grateful for all you do to keep PTE fresh and constantly new. Life is so fast we sometimes forget that perfection takes time and want everything instantly. A friend could not find the excellent official PTE tutorials today (they are now on the news archive section of the www.wnsoft.com site). Maybe a mention on the front page would be useful - but I guess we'll soon need new tutorials for version 5.0 ? Thanks again. Best Wishes Maureen
  6. Hi Harry Just to say our thoughts and prayers are with you. Looking forward to your future masterpieces - even medical ones! Just keep them shorter than "Gone WIth the Wind" time-wise. Keep smiling! Severe ill health forced me to give up work and so I learnt AV instead. Hope all goes well with your treatment. Take care of yourself, follow the doctors advice and know that we are all cheering for you. Love Maureen
  7. I have one external drive which I use very frequently & move around quite often. Sometimes now the leads do not make a very tight connection and the computer doesn't recognise the drive. I find if I then push the leads in firmly it all works once more and the drive is recognised. Just a thought and worth a quick trial. BW Maureen
  8. Thanks for all you have done for us all Bill. We'd all miss Beechbrook very much & appreciate all you have done. So sorry to hear of your problems. Hope the other sites keep going and don't get targeted. Hope you'll rethink & also keep going, or those who target the innocent will have won ! Love Maureen
  9. I should have said he plugged his laptop mains lead into his external hard drive. As they are different voltage - the files were "cooked" ! Hope I didn't alarm anyone currently happily plugging USB leads from external drives into their computers - as I do all the time. Be aware of which MAINS lead is which ! BW MAureen
  10. Having set up equipment, I always run an intro menu sequence, which also mentions switching off mobile phones (this is usually a great cue for me to switch mine off too !) I always use a special AV show background (see clearing the decks -clean backgrounds the notes are on the website at www.digital-av.co.uk I usually click a small mini sequence "Interval" before the coffee break (asking people to avoid any leads etc.) .....had that idea from Ron Wilkinson (Thanks Ron!). Hope your show goes well Fried! BW Maureen
  11. Thanks I hadn't spotted it before ! BW Maureen
  12. Just a cautionary tale ! I use two very large harddrives but always also save the files onto DVDs for extra safety.(very often). My husband also had an external hard drive and was "advised" to do the same. A few days ago he accidentally plugged his laptop lead into his external hard drive..... ...... So he literally "fried" all his files and as he hadn't done any copying on Cds or DVds for some time .......... lost all his files. This is only about five DVDs - well worth the security ! I do now have many DVDs full of images & files (including lots of template versions of my PTE sequences !) .....but feel I'd rather have the option of having too many copies than losing them and having none. Hope this sad tale helps someone else avoid the same very simple error. BW Maureen PS Wish Igor would allow me to save the template folder to a location of my choice.
  13. Give Peter my love. You may see one of my sequences tonight too. Have added new links to your tutorial on www.digital-av.co.uk Will also add to AV World soon. BW Maureen
  14. Super tutorial Roger. Will try to pass on the link here "down South!" Great for beginners. Well done on all your hard work! Currently not "online" often as spending lots of time with my parents who are unwell (& no Internet). BW Maureen
  15. Hi Beth I use a dual monitor set up. Find it very useful when I'm creating my sequences as I can have PTE on one screen and then ammend images in Photoshop or sound in Audition on the other screen as I develop the presentation. Don't think I would be interested in PTE being able to produce presentations that could utilize twin monitor systems - would not have any use for it personally. BW Maureen
  16. Hi Igor I think this is an excellent idea - it has my vote! PTE is already "smart and user friendly" and I've loved all the new ideas & developments. Have been so busy no time to sleep or think - now off for a long holiday to Italy and I hope sunshine ! Can't wait to see Milan and then head for those beautiful Lakes. Many Thanks for all the new developments. Will be playing with them & sending comments when I return. About time you took a holiday too Igor! BW Maureen
  17. I recently wrote up some notes about keeping your background clear of icons, etc. See notes at www.digital-av.co.uk I use the AV show user for my shows, together with the one image menu described already which has the invisible buttons. More notes to come for those guys who wanted info on invisible buttons. I haven't forgotten just been too busy. Hope this helps. BW MAureen
  18. Several sequences by Peter Coles and Ron Davies, including Hedd Wyn and Sarah, are now available at www.avworld.org They have been there for some time but I had no time to fix a broken link button Click the sequences button (which I hope I've now fixed) More to come soon. AV World magazine is run by Peter Coles (editor), Ron Davies and Colin Balls. BW Maureen
  19. Results of the Dutch National SlideShow Contest: Grand prize : "Day after Day". Michel Verhoef/ Michel Auge. and also ... public prize : Day after Day available on Beechbrook.com WELL DONE Michel and Michel ! Very well deserved I hope you have been celebrating ......... maybe you now feel like flying over quickly to visit us and see it judged at Aldbourne? BW Maureen
  20. Hi Michel You won't have to wait long. AV World have bought a more hosting and Peter is putting some of his work on the site to download. (including Sarah !) It is already up there actually but there was a problem with some links so I haven't made it active yet and I've had a "few things" on my plate during the last few months. So after this weekend when all our 7 house guests have also gone home .......... and I've put up all the WWW-DAVE results on my own site .......... I think I'll firstly take the luxury of some early nights and catch up on my sleep and then sort out the new sequences to download on AV World. I still think they should be using a proper professional web designer who knows what they're doing ! So be patient ! I'm so pleased so many people are coming along to Aldbourne for the weekend - we should have some good fun and lots of sequences to watch, along with terrific lectures on Sunday. (the three best AV / DI lecturers in the business at the moment!). But you'd have to see what they do to agree with my opinion. Very original. Congratulations also on your success at Cardiff with Day after Day and Good Luck on Saturday ! BW Maureen
  21. We'll always come over and run one in all that sunshine Bill I'm starting to pack already as I'm due to give one in Australia in 2007 ! I must admit it can be great fun attending a festival and meeting up with other AV workers - they are all such a friendly bunch. We've had some very good times in UK and over the water in Ireland and Europe. Well worth making the effort to go if you can, and you could save up and go along to Al's Festival in the Autumn (or should I say Fall?) in Canada .......surely only "up the road " from California & no water to cross to make you seasick ! BW Maureen
  22. Good to meet some Forum members at Cardiff on Saturday and looking forward to meeting more Forum members again next weekend at Aldbourne. I'm delighted we've such a high proportion of PTE sequences in our WWW-DAVE Festival. It is amazing how imaginative and creative people can be. Thanks to all who sent their work along and looks like we'll have a great weekend here. Hope you also have a wonderful time in Dublin, Alan and get lots of people coming along to see all the International AVs. It's certainly a long day I can tell you and I'm amazed how many people came up after Cardiff and said although we'd had a long day they had thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Edgar Gibbs did a tremendous job organising it all - pity he didn't have more people attending on the day .........but he's optimistic .....keeps talking about "the next one" .!!!! I'm too busy & tired to talk ! Thanks also for the warm welcome in Swansea - very strange to be back at my old college lecturing in the room I'd sat in as a student "5 minutes" ago ........OK more like 20 minutes !!! Can't wait to finish all this admin and play properly with the new PTE version though. MANY MANY THANKS once again Igor ..........you're brilliant! Still I think you should now be taking a holiday and then we can see an AV of your trip or maybe lots of images of your feet up in the air ! Take care. Best wishes Maureen info about next weekend is here
  23. Hi Wedford You may live abroad? But if you live in England, and can get to our Digital AV workshop next Sunday, one of our speakers, Mel Gigg has produced a very exciting PTE AV sequence which does use some animation / movement within it. I know Igor enjoyed seeing it. Well worth seeing if you can make it. He's on first on Sunday morning. See http://www.maureenalbright.com/www-dave/index.htm on the Aldbourne page. BW Maureen
  24. I'll be doing one in Swansea next Monday! I hear we're both doing a day together in Ludlow, Shropshire on October 23rd Barry. Good to see you & Caz again. Not forgetting the full day of digital AV at Cardiff next Saturday Starts at 9.30am. Or the whole weekend at Aldbourne on April 15th, 16th, 17th. Igor has a lot to answer for ! BW Maureen
  25. Jim I started a new thread so it wouldn't get lost in "suggestions for next version." I have checked out an old talk I used to do in PTE where I had lots of images with text and I clicked to go forward (or bacK) with the mouse, as I talked through the show. At certain slides in the show, I had an invisable button and objects which opened Adobe Audition, Photoshop, a web site and folders for images to demo techniques. The show is set so each slide displays for 5000000 .........but make it as long as you can & use your mouse clicks to change slides. It's an old show which I don't use now but the files opened OK. I also had permit control of the show ticked and no music/ sound file. Hope this helps. Best wishes Maureen
