  1. In PTE menu choose View > Language and then take your choice. As for Avatar's - never sorted that one out!
  2. I've just had a look at this presentation and wish to add my congratulations. The photographs are stunning and the show is very well put together. Having just come back from Church, I feel far more sense of God's presence after watching this show than at any time in the service.
  3. Congratulations - this will be just what many people need to get them started. And it's good to see the offer of Royalty free music.
  4. You'll find some very good resources here: http://www.beckhamdigital.co.uk/
  5. I'm responsible for the runner-up "Bleak Midwinter" and, like Peter, am happy to make it available but can't post to Beechbrook for the same reason. I reckon that it's worth registering on www.creatingslideshows.com to see what's what and, perhaps, take part in the activity there. It's a comprehensive site so you'll take a while to get used to the layout after which it's likely to become a "must".
  6. IMHO Igor should concentrate on developing PTE in its present style. There's plenty of perfectly competent audio and image editing software available, so why divert attention to this area?
  7. May I suggest that you subscribe to AV World - you'll not regret it... www.avworld.org
  8. Just use Ctrl S to save your file regularly!
  9. There was an interesting discussion on this topic back in October. See: Creative Juices, How do you make a show? Alan Lyons Posted: Oct 21 2004, 09:26 AM
  10. I hope you get as much pleasure from this program as I have - it's the best buy EVER.
  11. I've just investigated the entries and I must say that it's amazing how much variety of interpretation, style and theme can arise from a limited set of images. Please take a look for yourself and have a treat, even if you're not registered to vote. Maybe next time?
  12. Yes please, Ron. rogerwalton@btinternet.com
  13. How about: "PTE workers don't die, they just sink to the music"
  14. Thanks Fred.
  15. I was thinking of hopw you've used Granot's utilities to use Flash in conjunction with pte. I sometimes find it difficult to decide which utility does what!
  16. How about a short step-by-step?
  17. "(And the next subject will be - How long should a forum post be and still get read?) " Well, I read (and enjoyed) it all - very informative and thought provoking. Having just spent around 60 hours to produce a show of around 3 mins, I don't think I'll try a long one!
  18. "In all, the presentation should run for just over an hour. " Perhaps I'm missing something here but, in my experience, an individual show that's longer than around 7 minutes sees me "losing the plot". Of course, an evening of shows (with short gaps between them) works fine. I wonder if others have any opinions on this? What do the experts find works?
  19. As a registered and participating user, I can heartily recommend this young and developing site.
  20. Very impressive. I wish I understood the words!
  21. Yes - I agree, the transitions ought to be set to none or (IMHO) fade in/out by default. I never tick the "fill screen" option so I guess I'm with the "leave it alone" faction.
  22. Are you ticking "Permit control of show" next to "Customise Synchronisation"?
  23. I'm looking forward to seeing your entry, Peter. Will be working on mine today.
  24. "PPI ~ refers to the physical size on an image on paper, and to nothing else. Therefore, with an image set to 100 PPI, each 100 pixels of an image will span 1 inch of paper. 1000 pixels @ 100 PixelsPerInch = 10 inches etc. DPI ~ refers to the number of DOTS of ink (Per Inch) that an inkjet printer lays down onto paper in order to reproduce the image. The two are not inter-related in any way." Yes - I appreciate this. I suspect that this is partly due to the translation (the original is in French - as I can't speak this very well, I can't check it). "The size an image appears on a monitor screen (website, email or slideshow) relates in real terms to neither PPI nor DPI, but to the physical span of a set number of pixels across the particular monitor screen in question. For example ~ your monitor screen set to 1024x768 will not necessarily display the exact same physical screen width as my monitor screen set to 1024x768 ~ therefore an identical image viewed on our two monitor screens would not necessarily be seen at exactly the same physical dimensions ~ the only constant would be the ‘percentage’ of screen-width spanned." Exactly - that's the point I was trying to make.
  25. You'll find what you need for the first part of your question on my club site, here: Bishopthorpe Camera Club Even when I'm processing a large number of images, I keep an eye on what's going on so that I can "tweak" certain parameters, namely the amount of sharpening applied and the quality used in "Save for Web". But there is enough information on the reference earlier to allow you to adjust the actions so that they run without any intervention if you wish.
