  1. You can get these problems when using 'copies' of the original software. (naughty!) The solution is probably to re-install both Photoshop and PTE Ron West
  2. The last time that I can remember being so overwhelmed was when I visited the Kranji War Memorial in Singapore back in the 1950's. Geoff, your slide show is wonderful and makes me feel very humble! No need to change it in anyway - the message it portrays is real enough and let us all remember that "but for the grace of God, there go I" Lest we forget! Ron West
  3. There are loads of very useful ideas already posted on this subject but can I suggest that you take a look at the Barry Beckham web site. He has a very useful CD available that will show you exactly how to use Photoshop to creat an 'action' that will copywrite all your PTE slides in one easy step. www.beckhamdigital.co.uk
  4. I have found that many of the CD Tutorials available today are excellent, especially the ones made by Barry Beckham. My one observation is that most tutorials are just to 'fast paced' and do not give sufficient basic information particularly when combining PTE with Photoshop. Not being one to play the game from the touchline, I have decided to put together a series of CD tutorials of my own that will concentrate on the basic level and deal with just one subject for a full 60 minutes. If you are interested in my first efforts (Creating a Slide Show Title Sequence) then please feel free to email me at ronniebootwest@aol.com.
  5. What is the point of tellng us all to view your show and then placing a time limit on it? If you want comments on how good your work is (or otherwise) then make it available for download or stop wasting our time! Is this slide show available or not???
  6. Running a PTE show directly from a CD works for many prople. However, if the recipient of the CD has a computer with limited resources (e.g. RAM of less than 128mb) then problems may be encountered when trying to play the CD. Why not consider transferring the PTE show from the CD to a temporary folder and playing it from there. Granot has written a utility that will carry out this operation automatically. Contact him here: http://www.thailandphotoalbum.com
  7. I am not at all sure that saving a jpeg at full quality is the right thing to do. In order to keep file sizes as small as possible, a compression size of 6 or 7 will prove to be much better I think.
  8. Hi Dianna! Yes an .exe file will play direct from a CD. It is wise to heed the advice already given in this thread though. i.e. Keep the file size low at 800X600 or 1024X768 (pixels) and use a jpeg file with compression set to 6 or 7. If you add music, then only use mp3. Ron West
  9. Sending large files via email is not difficult! There is a piece of softwar4e called 'GSPLIT' that will cut up your file into small manageable pieces that can be sent via email. The recipient then uses the same software to put the pieces back together. This software package is free and can be downloaded from:- www.gdgsoft.com. It works well, I have used it often
  10. It has all been said so many times now but I would like to endorse the following two major requests:- 1. Embed app in the exe file (Run embedded app) so that we can then have some control over who can use out slide shosws. e.g. Unlock key could then be used as most other software. 2. Ability to sort slides is a great suggestion but if you add this feature an you make the 'dark Table' big enough to cop with a latge number of slides and not restrict it to 40. Also could tyhe thumbnails be displayed in a larger size. Ron
  11. The Adeptec software is absolutely fine for burning slide shows to CD. Other members have already mentioned the fact that you must BURN A DATA DISC otherwise it will all go pearshaped. All you need to do is drag the .exe file of your show to the appropriate window and then burn. (autorun.inf also if you want the show to start up automatically)
  12. Perhaps it might be an idea for those members with old presentations on your site could let you know if they would like you to keep hosting them. We must remember that you provide an invaluable service to us all and that your site should not be cluttered up with old stuff. My own early presentation 'Cwmbran' can be removed now because it has been recently updated with 'Cwmbran with flash'
  13. A good idea not to have to use the 'config' file because that is what made it not so easy to use. However, I have tried your new FlashMe4 and I reckon that it is not as smooth as version 3. There are small gaps beween the PTE show and Flash. FlashMe3 is still better!
  14. There has been quite a lot of discussion about adding Flash (swf) files to shows recently. It seems that members are keen to do it but often think that it is to difficult or much to time consuming. Well yes! it can be if you make it so; but it can also be very simple if you keep things at a basic level. I have posted a show on Beechbrook called, "CWMBRAN WITH FLASH" and have kept it very simple with some opening titles and Closing credits. Please let me know what you think. Ron West
  15. Don't give up on using flash because although it seems hard to do, believe me, it is easy when you know how. I am not very well at the moment, but when I am recovered i will try to help anyone who would like to do it. It is worth it and it gives another dimension to you slide shows
  16. FlashMe3 is able to run credits at the end of a slide show. It works the same as the opening titles. You must create a separate folder into which you put the Flashme3 utility and the text file, also the flash file you have created. Then use 'Run external application' on your very last PTE slide. Please email me if you need any more help.
  17. There have been a few small problems with this utility but I am very happy to say that Granot has now solved all the problems and I am very happy with the final results. I have created an opening flash for the introduction to my slide shows and it all works perfectly. Give it a try, I am sure you will like this utility.
  18. Ron - you are right and I am sorry. Please go to the original thread in the PTE Presentation forum for a complete story. Incidently, I still have no real answers to my problem - that is my fault though because I seem to have confused everyone with the way I asked the question. Go over to the other forum and I will explain again.
  19. You should try some of the Barry Beckham tutorials (http://www.bbdigital.co.uk) he has covered most of the things you are likely to need and he is very good. As for Paintshop Pro and Photoshop - both are good but Photoshop is well worth persevering with. It is, after all, the Industry standard.
  20. I assume that you mean Adobe Premier. That software is for video editing and is so very expensive. It is also as difficult to learn as Photoshop, with a learning curve that is as steep as hell. Keep PTE to photo imaging presentations with music; and leave the 'voice overs' to others. It takes a special kind of person with a good voice, to make audio worth listening to.
  21. Granot has done it again! The first Flashme utility was good, but this revision is so much better. I was privilaged to be able to help a little with the testing of the beta version of FlashMe2 and I am absolutely certain that you will all love this utility. If you haven't yet played around with 'flash' (swf) intro's to your slide shows, then you must give it a try because it will add a third dimension to your shows. I have used the expensive version of the Swishmax software but have recenty taken Granot's advice and downloaded the 'SWISHLITE' software from the same stable - it is good and it is cheap. Couple this with the excellent FlashMe2 utility and you will be producing professional shows in no timr at all. Thankyou Granot, what would we do without you. Ron West
  22. I agree that it would be nice to have a 'Time limited' and also a 'View number of times' option. Other programs provide this facility so why can we not see it in PTE? For example there is a program called 'ProshowGold' from Photodex that has these facilities - this will becaome strong competition for PTE in future.
  23. I posted the following thread on the other PTE Forum the other day and I seem to have confused everybody who has read it. Does anyone on this forum understand what I am trying to achieve? And still I do not seem to have got my problem across to you all - it must be me I guess. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Let me try again! 1. First open an image in Photoshop. 2. You will notice that the blue bar across the top of the image will show the name of the file and it's percentage, e.g. 25% and the image itself will be fully displayed. 3. Now click the 'Actual Pixels' tab on the top of your screen - the 25% will change to 100% but the image will now be 'zoomed in' and only part of it will be displayed on the screen. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to change the % to 100 so that ALL OF THE IMAGE IS STILL DISPLAYED ON THE SCREEN. (NOT ZOOMED IN)
