Applefan Posted November 16, 2022 Report Posted November 16, 2022 I registered PTE slideshow software a good long while ago (before there was a Mac version) and received a registration email that said, "This registration will work with all future versions of PicturesToExe (otherwise, we'll provide you with the new one - free of charge, of course). If you lose this file, please drop the letter to support@wnsoft.com and we'll send it to you again." Now I see that there is a version available to run on my MacBook Pro and wanted to download the latest version of PTE. I have tried contacting support@wnsoft.com for information about getting a new registration number but haven't been able to get a hold of anyone. Do you know how I would go about contacting someone for assistance? Thanks! Quote
davegee Posted November 16, 2022 Report Posted November 16, 2022 Which version did you purchase?? DG Quote
jkb Posted November 17, 2022 Report Posted November 17, 2022 You need to have version 10.5 to be able to run on a Mac. If your key is for an early version - up to 7 then your key will work with all previous versions. After that you will need to purchase a new key, Jill 1 Quote
Applefan Posted November 17, 2022 Author Report Posted November 17, 2022 The last version I had was 5.0. Nothing in the registration email placed a limit on how many versions the registration would cover. It literally said it would work with "all future versions of PicturestoExe". Why would I need to purchase a new key? Quote
jkb Posted November 17, 2022 Report Posted November 17, 2022 It will work up to 7, after that it was considered to be a new product. If you only have 5, then you can upgrade to 7 for free. Anything after that you will have to purchase. You will find that the improvements are well worth the cost, the program has changed a lot. Even going from 5 to 7 there are big changes. The developers need to make money to keep on improving PTE AV Studio. They cannot work for nothing. You can download the latest version & try it out for 30 days for free. The current price is still a lot cheaper than some other products & well worth it, give it a go Jill 1 Quote
Applefan Posted November 17, 2022 Author Report Posted November 17, 2022 I mean, that's fine, but why did they say it would work with all future versions if it doesn't? Why are the version numbers all sequential if it's a new product? New products start with version 1. How do I get a new registration number to download version 7? Quote
Igor Posted November 17, 2022 Report Posted November 17, 2022 Hi, Please contact us on the following page to request the latest license key for PicturesToExe 8.0 for free: https://www.wnsoft.com/en/support/ It's only for Windows. For Mac version we ask you to purchase PTE AV Studio 10.5 Pro license. Currently we sell a new product - PTE AV Studio. The old product reached end of its life cycle in 2018. I guess that you purchased PicturesToExe more than 11 years ago. If you think that we should send you a free license key for the new product and new version 10.5, write me a personal message. We'll send you a free license for the standard license 10.5, not the Pro license, sorry. Then you can upgrade to for the Pro license (75$) and use it with your Mac. 1 Quote
Applefan Posted November 18, 2022 Author Report Posted November 18, 2022 Thanks, Igor. I will contact you that way. Quote
Cybercanvas Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago I'm in the very same boat. I purchased PicturestoEXE V9 Pro with the promise the license was good for "all future version", then WNSoft just did the old bait'n switch, called it a "new program" and left me hanging. There were literally NO new versions... The program went directly from PicturesToEXE V9 Pro to PTE AV Studio and got called a "new program". Quote

So v9, V9.01, V9.02 etc. V10, V11 etc are new releases. The cost of an upgrade is very small & well worth it. But if you leave it several releases, then you will need to buy again. The developers need to make some money to keep on improving the product. Put your hand in your pocket & upgrade, you will be amazed at all the new features. Jill 2 Quote

Probably you had a hard day. I belive that there was a misunderstanding. For PicturesToExe 9.0, we did not promise free upgrades to the next major releases (10.0 and further), even if the program was called PicturesToExe). You can check out PicturesToExe 9.0 order page on the Internet Archive (May of 2017, two months after the release of V9): https://web.archive.org/web/20170503164507/http://www.wnsoft.com:80/en/picturestoexe/buy Quote: "One year of free updates provided (performance improvements and bug fixes)." We provided free updates (bug-fixes and small improvements) more than 2 years - until May of 2019. The same upgrade policy was for V8 (released in December of 2013). For V9 users we still offer the upgrade to the latest V11 for $49 (from Deluxe to the Pro) or $36 (from Essentials to the Standard). Instead of the full price ($149 or $75). I believe that it's not large fee to get a new major version with many improvements new exciting features! Anyway, you can continue to use the purchased version unlimited time. Some our nearest competitors switched to subscription based pricing model and you have to pay annually 99-250 euro! It's much more than you paid for PicturesToExe. And our other closest competitor (Proshow) went bankrupt in 2020 - they did not dare to introduce a subscription! We need your support, while users purchase upgrades we can continue to develop new versions of PTE AV Studio (PicturesToExe) and introduce new functions and effects. With hope on your understanding, Igor, Quote
