Rosemary A Posted yesterday at 01:00 AM Report Posted yesterday at 01:00 AM Is the ability to choose a font size and maintain it throughout the show going to be available in PTE AV Studio 12? At present one has to copy and paste the original slide and delete its text and replace it with the new text. I find it unwieldy especially in such a sophisticated program. Rosemary Quote
jt49 Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago I think, we already have a parameter for text size that is compatible with PTE's object model: It is just the Zoom value of a single line. Of course there is a problem. If we add additional lines and change the Line spacing, the "text size" does not show up any more. My suggestion: There should be an additional box (beside Alignment and Line spacing in the text object's Properties) showing the corresponding Zoom value for a single line. One may call it "text size". So, entering some lines of text, the value for Line spacing and the Text size would (automatically) determine the text's Zoom value. Quote
jkb Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago You don't copy & paste the Slide with Text, just the Text Object in O&A. At least with this method you are certain to keep the same Font, Shadow & colour throughout the show. I don't find it a problem. But then I mainly only use Text for a Title & end Credits. And each of these would be a different size anyway. I never look at the Zoom size & just drag the Text to the size that looks right on the image. The ability to easily use a different colour or Font for some characters in a word or line, without having to create a separate Text Objects would be much more useful. I have recently needed to create a line where the first letter of each word was a different colour & size took much longer as they all had to be separate Text Objects. And keeping the spacing correct, especially if there is animation was difficult. Jill Quote
Rosemary A Posted 3 hours ago Author Report Posted 3 hours ago Hi Jill, Thank you for getting back to me. Thank you for the tip about copying the text object in O&A. I tend to use a lot of text, usually a slide worth to explain what or where we were. I find that after a few years I forget where the picture is from or about! I feel that if the text isn't the same size throughout the show, it looks untidy. The intro and credits can be different text or size but the main body text, I feel, should be uniform just like a book or newspaper text. I long for the day when one can just select a size for the text and that is it - no copying and pasting needed. Thanks again Jill, Rosemary Quote
jkb Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Hi Rosemary, I understand what you mean about keeping all the Text the same throughout a Show. If you are using a lot of Text, I find it best to type it out in something like Word first. That way you also have a Spellchecker. If you know that you can get say 15 lines of Text on one Slide, then simply add Blank Lines to each section, so that you always have 15 Lines. Then you can just copy those 15 lines needed for a Slide & Paste it directly into PTE. That way it will always be the same size. To make sure all the Lines are aligned then set the Text Object to be Left adjusted & set the Center Point to -100. Your Pan X is then set to say -90 and you know that all of your Text will start & be aligned to the same position. Do this before you add any actual Words You then just copy & Paste from Word for each Slide needed. Maybe set up a standard set of 15 lines - doesn't matter what it actually says. Add this to Slide 1 & then using the Quick Slide Style, Apply this Sample Text to all the others you need - It is then done in one go. You then can quickly change the actual words by Copy & Paste from your Word doc Quite quick really. Hope this helps Jill Quote
Rosemary A Posted 2 hours ago Author Report Posted 2 hours ago Thanks Jill,. I shall have a play with this. It doesn't stop me from hoping for the option to set a text size though. I shall live in hope. Rosemary Quote
jt49 Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago It happens again and again. The original poster asks for a particular feature, here "Text size". It might be helpful to present lots of workarounds, but they should be posted in seperate topics! Otherwise, the original topic looses its way. Quote
