Cursor movement [SOLVED]

Hi Igor,

When I create a style and want to add text to the comment box (if the box is empty), the cursor doesn't move when I type the first letter.

I think this problem was present in previous versions.

It's really a very minor detail.

Hi Roan,

Do you mean the Comment box field, as shown in the screenshot below? It works for me.

Does the vertical cursor line blink when you click inside an empty text field?
Can you paste some text from Windows Clipboard (Ctrl+V)?
Do you see a popup menu on the right mouse click? With commands Undo, Redoe, Copy, Paste, etc.

Yes, it's the comment box field.

The vertical cursor line is blinking correctly.

I can paste text from Windows.

I can see the context menu when I right-click.

What's strange is that it doesn't happen every time.

Only on the first letter I type.

Perhaps it's a problem with my setup or my keyboard...

Interesting problem.
1. If you have V11.0.21, could you check it there?

Now about V12.
2. Let's try to figure out if this problem occurs with any text or specific letters or words.
Try typing: Hello, world
Then try typing in French. Try typing different French words. If some work, but others don't, give me exact examples. For example:
Merci - doesn't work (won't print any symbol)
Bonjour - works
Hello, world - works
2. Check another text field (box) in the Objects and animation editor.
Add a new Text object, and in the Properties tab, try typing text in the text box. Same words.

So, with version 11, it's exactly the same problem.

For me, all the words display correctly (in French), but the cursor doesn't shift for the first letter (that letter ends up at the end of the word).

If I type "Bonjour," it writes "onjourB".

If I type "Merci," it writes "erciM".

If I type "Grand soleil," it writes "rand soleilG".

We have the same problem with the object/animation window when using text: the first letter shifts to the end.

Can you switch to the English keyboard layout and type English words, for example "Hello"?

I use the French language and a French keyboard.

With the English keyboard layout,

When I type "Hello" in the comment field for style creation, I get "elloH".

However, when entering text in the Object/Animation section, "Hello" is written correctly.

Correction.

I hadn't restarted PTE 12 after changing the keyboard;

So, with the English keyboard configuration, "Hello" is spelled correctly everywhere.

I just tested it on another PC—an old laptop.

The text displays correctly.

I think it really is a PC configuration issue.

Roan,

Could you check a couple of things on the problem PC:

1. Which exact keyboard layout is set for French? Windows offers a few variants (e.g. "French", "French (Belgium)", "French (Canada)" or "French (Switzerland)") - please check under Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region, or Control Panel > Language, and me us know the exact name.
2. Do you have any additional software installed that hooks into keyboard input? For example, keyboard remapping tools, macro utilities, clipboard managers, or specialized input software.

The problematic PC is configured in French (France).

There is no keyboard software or remapping application installed.

Standard French keyboard (AZERTY)

I tried another standard Logitech keyboard. But the problem persists.
